Gurukulavasam @ kalakshetra

My father was always insisting on gurukula type of education. He admitted me at kalashetra chennai for learning bharatanatyam and also do my schooling at besant arundale sr.sec school.

Therefore in typical gurukula setup i have been fortunate to study for the past 8 years. My humble request to all tamil brahmin parents is to encourage such type of gurukulavasam like in the ancient days and learn our ancient classical arts.:ohwell:

i am extremely happy to find this site. Now i have an oppurtunity to meet people of my community. Let's strive hard to bring back the lost glory of our community

welcome all new folks.

rbrg, what lost glory are you striving hard to bring back? can you please elaborate? thank you.

great and welcome sir, I appreciate your frankness. By the by is there any reason or incidence as to why you do not do any sandhayavandhanam etc which you have mentioned. Let mem kindly know please if you can.
Reg fee for mahalaya tharpanam you had stated of package price. Who had offered that kind of pack fees. Where is it. What I know is ,as far as a tamil brahmin [who has lost his father] is concerned one has to do tharpanam to do all known and unknown pithrus. This calls for a purohit , if available, and follow his conducting the tahrpanam ;otherwise alone by going thro a prescribed written text available nowadays.
I am in bangalore.
Thank you. I await to your kind response.

Bring back the lost glory

Dear Kunjuppu, Brahmins were revered by great Kings and members of other community for their knowledge, sincerity in following dharma, maturity and their emotional balance. They were the role models. I feel that many brahmins now are lost in this material world forgetting the ultimate truth and their responsibility to be the role models.
