Welcome to all the new comers.

I often hear that our community does not get involved, we do not help each other and we are selfish. I do not buy a word of it.

Please contribute with your voices.

Welcome.

An Ideal site

Hi!,
I came to know of this interesting site from 'The Times of T.Nagar' dated 20.9.09. Plaudits to Mr.Praveen to have come up with the idea of a site about brahminism. Though this site is meant to explore brahminism, it can extend to help brahmins in so many ways by contributing to their welfare since they have been isolated by the Government by making "MERIT" take a back-seat in all walks of life.

Keep up the gud work!!:)

With best wishes,
Raju

Introduction

Hi Everyone,

Its great to be member of Tamilbrahmins.com.

I am an Iyer born and brought up in Bangalore, I can only speak Tamil, but on the other hand I am able to speak, read and some what write Kannada.
My parents hail from Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu, my Father moved from erstwhile Madras to Bangalore in 1930s and have since settled down there, i was convent educated and hence the only written communication is all in English, I am engineer by profession having graduated in Mechanical and later on in Marine and Aeronautical engg, have been in the Indian Navy for 25 years and took a pre mature release in 2005 as a Captain and am now working for Rolls-Royce in the Civil aerospace business & presently posted in New Delhi.

I am quite religious & do believe in all our customs and traditions, the basic upbringing has been thus & hence would like to continue the same. I do my sandhyavandanam regularly for the last 25 years, thanks to Bharathi Vidya Bhavan who have a book in English & Sanskrit which has helped me to be regular as it preaches step by step.

I would like to get more into our rituals & customs as i am progressing in age, am now 52 years and as the saying goes 'u tend to be spiritual & philosophical with age as u are getting closer to the almighty', probably I am no different and hence I have registered with Tamilbrahmins.com to get some enlightenment from our seniors and also seeking guidance & advice as time progresses.

Thanks & regards to one and all

Capt(IN) R Santhanam
