Introduce yourself here

ganapathy, and the other new comers,

welcome to the forum.

ganapathy, there are other members here who are in the same life cycle as you are. this will become evident to you as you participate more in the forum.

perhaps, they will have some pointers for a more fulfilled retirement for you.

volunteering for tuitions to youngster, i think, is a noble act for spreading knowledge, doing community good and above all helping the next generation.

the pension groups are the worst places for intelligent people like you, i think. most of them, as far as i know, tend to be reactionary in political and social views and best to shun them

welcome again. :)

Welcome to your own community!

Dear Mr. Raman:
Welcome to your own community; NOW, you are among your own friends!
With all the experience you have, the members are the beneficiary of your wisdom. Therefore, please contribute by expressing your thoughts, your life experiences, or your views on various subjects on this Forum. Forget the pension group!!
Welcome aboard!

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to have been able to know the existence of this site and would be keenly interested in viewing several of the topics on the brahmin culture, various aspects of our various festivals and rites. Should I find myself competent to express my views on any of the subjects I shall do so.

I am a retired employee from one of the UN organizations.

I am not occupied and am fairly free. I love reading and listening to devotional songs.

I would be grateful if any of you could offer me some guidance and advice on meditation and pranayama.

I am doing some pranayamas in the morning hours. I also walk about an hour every day.

Although I am not an introvert I do not have many friends - socially or otherwise.

While in service I used to be proud that I was a popular guy among my colleagues and superiors. I do not have any of those contacts except an occasional formal meeting of pensioners to discuss monetary and financial gains. Strangely, in these meetings no one wants to know of others or interested in sharing feelings and concerns - the only common interest seems to be pension rules and regulations and how they affect financially the pensioners and their families. I do also attach importance and concern to these matters - but shouldn't we also devote some time on such occasions to talk on other matters of interest!!

Nobody told me about the Tamil Brahmins website - I read it on a Sunday newspaper supplement. I am glad that I noticed the item.

Before I close, I wish each and every one of you and your families a Happy Diwali.

Looking forward to hearing from you and with best regards,

Yours sincerely,

G. Raman

Introduction - M.R.Krishnan

I hail from Manjapra, a small village in Palghat. I spent my childhood in Calcutta and have now settled down in Mumbai for almost 30 years.

I got introduced to this website through the Iyers123 forum. I have found the Devotional songs and the Carnatic Music sections very interesting. I have downloaded lot of songs from both these sections.

My interests are in Yajur Veda and Religious songs ( Carnatic or Bhajan).
I have got the entire Yajur Veda downloaded from the Internet . I participate in Surya Namaskaram every Sunday along with other devotees at the local SIES, Nerul Anjaneya temple ( New Bombay). I am now looking for English translations of the Vedas / Slokas. There are lots of such translations already available in several websites ( the best ones being those provided by P.R.Ramachander )

Hi! I am a new member, just joined. I would like to hear from people about vedas, our culture and traditions.
Welcome swamysiva,
I would like you to ask any specific question about the subjects you want to know since generalised answers are simply enormous as ours is centuries old and cannot be fitted into a small page.I would try and answer the same with doubts cleared from elders and scholars.
with best regards,
