Introduction

Hello every one ... my name is Sridhar and I am a Tamil Brahmin (Iyer) born in Tanjore Dist brought up in Bangalore, moved around the country for almost 20 years here and there and now have come back to Bangalore in 2007. Married with 2 lovely children (both sons - Gaurav & Vaibhav) - majority being men in the family, have given the liberty of occupying our small family's throne to my lovely wife Ganga and we all abide by her directions in the family.

Have been in Corporate world for over 19 years and now since last 11 years, am supporting deserving Charitable organizations in India by making them self sustainable. I have the satisfaction of feeding thousands of poor children in India atleast one meal a day. My vision is to see if I can achieve my vision statement "no child in India should be left hungry".

Being a brahmin, I wanted to listen to devotional songs every morning and during this search I came across tamilbrahmins.com. That's how I am in and today is my first day here. Hope to have a wonderful time with all of you in the days/months/years to come.

Rgds,
Sridhar

Dear Sir,

Your blog took me down in my memory lane as far back as 1964 to 1969 when I was a student at the Government college of Technology (GCT), then at PSG College of Technology,Peelamedu. After going through your blog,
my memory of happy days of my stay in GCT hostel, stroll through DB Road (100 feet Road ) in the RS Puram area in the evenings with my friends for a cup of coffee in India Coffee House with a song of our choice from the juke box kept in the shop and going to the Kennedy Theater to watch the movie "Love in Tokyo" came fresh in my mind. It was a delightful experience for me to go to the Woodlands Hotel near Govt.Arts College from PSG Tech. hostel for dinner on Saturdays where unlimited small poories used to be served before the start of the main menu.I really enjoyed my stay at Coimbatore those days.

Namasthe I am Bhaskaran Santhanam Iyer and i am proud to be a part of this Forum. I live in Bangalore and iam aged 39.

Dear Sri Sadasivam Sridharan,

I am happy that you had gone through my Blog(s) on "My Coimbatore". I am sure that you might have traveled with me in Coimbatore of those days which is gone for ever. The intention of writing about Coimbatore of bygone era is to bring back the sweet memories of the past to the reader. Woodlands Hotel is gone, so also India Coffee House. We used to sneak through to your GCT Hostel grounds to watch English movies screened on weekends. (Ha Ha). Please read the Blog(s) from the earliest period, if you have already done it.

Warm Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore

Dear Mr.Brahmanyan,
I agree that the charm effused by the city those days is missing. This was my impression (may not the case for others)when I happened to visit Coimbatore last year.I however cherish my association with the city with my மலரும் நினைவுகள்.

Kind Regards
S.Sridharan

Dear Sir,
Can't you understand. The Present government do not want people to think. If they start thinking, they will understand the true meaning of each freebie. It is the beginning of end of this government. They are simply following Marxist way of controlling people in a "democratic manner". They want next generation to think in their way of thinking.

Dear Sri Gopalakrishnan,

Welcome to Tamil Brahmins Forum. This is a wonderful platform for discussions on subjects relating to the community. Hope you have got the Sloka on Aswatha Tree. I think you mean the sloka "urdhva-mulam adhah-sakham asvattham prahur avyayam chandamsi yasya parnani yas tam veda sa veda-vit " - Bhagavad Gita Ch.15-1.
