Mr. AMji,
The group of Tamils you met from eastern India is amazing. My wife's family too comes from the stock that came back to TN by land route from Burma. My forefathers left TN and we return back as tourist today. I met a Tamil family from Mauritius who maintain their culture.

During and after the devastating WW2 a large number of Tamils and Indians from Burma fled to India- to Manipur, and Tamil Nadu. They established Burmese refugee colonies that still exist today and maintain an identity as Burmese returnees.

hi
there is place called BURMA BAZAAR in chennai...original returness of burma....

Dear All

Dr Renuka has confirmed that sending Prasaadam through post is not a problem in Malaysia. I need to wait
for folk from other parts of the world to confirm - anyway, Shivaratri is some time off yet.

Prasad Ji, Smt VR - I hope this gets a mention in the Harvard Study Report - I met a small group of Tamil
speaking people from North-Eastern India - close to [ infact right on it ] the Indo-Burma border ! Not sure
whether it is Tripura or Mizoram .

It looks, not all Tamil people took the sea route to southern India and came here as repatriates / refugees.
in the 1950s & '60s . Some of them apparently took the land route just decided to stay in the mountainous areas
before the borders lines were drawn with with any clarity. Their place is Moorah / Mooreh - neglected by both
Indian and Myanmarese Govts.
- now facing headaches from Islamic insurgents from Bangla Desh.

They have built two Temples - one Veera Rama and the other a Kaliammam, the Eastern Entrance of The Kaliamman
Temple is inside what is Burmese territory! A flourishing cross-border trade keeps sustaining them.

They are fluent in Tamil [ though a few words of Assamese/Mizo/Bengali do slip-in at times, in between sentences ]
and some of them sang songs of Siva Vakkiyar and Thirumoolar !

Smt VR, I think I should've posted this in your " Did You Know?" - surely, I didn't know about this community
until today. Mam, I think that partially answers your question of why I suddenly vanish. There is so much to
know, and so little one can imbibe.

They have 'invited' me to visit their place and Insha Ganesha my visit there will be soon. If someone can
'google' some details - on accessibility, rail/road routes/ trekking / mule tracks etc, that will be a great help.
I have been up to Gawhati [ Sri Kamakhya Devi Temple ] and bathed in the Brahmaputra before - that was about
10 years ago - things must've changed a lot, now.

Dear Prasad Ji, Smt VR, tbs Ji, Bu...( no, Smt Subbulakshmi), Dr Renuka, Paddu Sir,

Here's something else that was a revelation to me - there are other Universities too that are on the
prowl here !

I met a few Research Scholars from Australia - Dept of Speech Pathology & Audiology, School of Medicine
Adelaide University AND Research Centre for Linguistic Typology, La Trobe University, Melbourne.

They were specifically looking into linguistic similarities between the languages of the aborigines of Australia
and Tamil as we know it today. It looks, scientific mapping of DNA of human remains 40,000 years old suggests
a lineage from a common ancestry in peninsular India.

It is common knowledge that Tamilians did travel across the seas - in search of better futures / as indentured
labor etc (or whatever) to South Africa, East Africa, Mauritius, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia Burma and even as far as the West Indies and Papua New Guinea, but that was all meant to have been in the last 2000 to 2500 years.

Many relics and artifacts bearing Tamil inscriptions have been found in the aboriginal habitats, in Australia and were thought to have been brought in by traders, sailors, shipwrecks etc.

But this 40,000 years old mitochondrial DNA finding could one day question the validity of the "Out of Africa"
theory of the origin of the human race and its migration.

One of the Oz chaps jokingly quoted an Australian Author who is supposed to have said that Indians believe
in re-birth, because one can't see all of India in one birth - so vast and so diverse it is.

I'm learning - the biggest lesson learnt so far is that I have a long long long long way to go.

that is interesting that you met Research Scholars from Australia, I believe the same news was around some time ago regarding tamil language.. a couple of years back I happened to see a documentary on the Aborgines and I was quite fascinated that their language sounds so much like ancient tamil or close to tamil spoken today.. I wondered why they did not research it earlier.. I was equally intrigued when I heard Korean kids call their parents father " Appa " :-) I am so glad that you were exposed to such variety of people and learned so much during this trip.. :-)

Thank you Renu dear, I like it but can only take so much of that Gangnam style, it is too repetitious.. :-) but love the tenacity of that guy.. he has developed his own style and succeeded .. :-)

Dear All

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Today I have sent to my address, enough quantities of ' Gangai Theertham Sombus ' - small
ones, all packed and sealed in front of my eyes - the jalam is from the Sangamam, by Patel Roadways.

[ I couldn't possibly carry such quantities in my baggage - when I myself would be lucky to get
a foot-hold in one of those un-reserved, IInd class compartments, travellin 2 days & 2 nights]

Also, Vibhuthi and Kungumam - all mixed from various sthalams - I will have to repack these when I get back
to Madras and get them into "sets" that I can give all the lovely folk on the TB Forum.

I propose to call for a 'get-together' [ probably in Amarabharathi Hall - belongs to Sri Ramakrishnan -
Jayendrar's younger brother - We've known their family since Jayendrar's pre-sanyasin days I'll get the hall for free
and arrange for a good lunch - our 'Aasthana' Caterer - Rajaram Iyer ].

This is how things looks at the moment. But that is still some time away. Need to concentrate on
the things that need immediate focus.

Will give updates, later, got to go now.

Three cheers to A.M JI!

for the successful completion
of the long drawn ordeal!!!:cheer2:

Dear All

Got back to base - after 63 days. Not enough words in my vocabulary to describe
the experience. No, Smt VR, I wouldn't call it an 'ordeal' - different, yes and maybe a brief
glimpse of multiple worlds existing simultaneously on Earth.

Suffice to say, I'll be going again in 2025 - this time with my grandson and tell him in
T.P.Kailasam's words :

These scenes and words you see and hear
I've seen and heard before.
As king or priest, poltroon or peer
Somewhere............. Somewhen of yore !

Thanks to every one for all the good wishes. Feels kind of strange
to get back to a different world altogether !

Ha Ha Ha..this feeling is called the Spiritually High Syndrome.

I have seen many people get this..my brother used to get this feeling very often each time he would visit Puttaparthi.

He would come back to Msia and act like a Sadhu for some few weeks..only listen to Suprabhatam in morning, bhajans etc..no hearing other songs.

He will scold me when I use swear words too!
He will say 'dont say all that"

I will tell him..."you wait and watch after some 2-3 weeks your spiritually high feeling will come to ground level"

And sure enough after some 2-3 weeks he will be back to his normal self.

I have even seen some of my husbands relatives who after coming back from temples of India somehow feel they have become avatar purushas or the embodiement of shakti(females tend to get that feeling easily!LOL)..after 2 -3 week everyone will be back to normal.

So don't worry AM ji..give yourself some 2-3 weeks and you will back to normal again.

Wine and Religion are not that different..both makes us high!LOL

Does A M Sir have any plan to arrange for a meeting in Sing. Chennai? :)

P.S: Earlier the better! The spiritual level will be high! :thumb:

Dear A.M Ji,
It took you 9 weeks (63 days) to get spiritually high.

Already one week is over.

So make hay while the sun shines and

the spirituality is giving you an aura. :thumb:

Waiting to hear more interesting anecdotes from you. :ear:
I promise I will not interfere nor distract from the main story. :peace:

Dear Renu,

Does it take 2 to 3 weeks to

come back to normal form the :rapture:

Deae VR ji,

I have noted that it takes around 2-3 weeks in most cases.

I somehow do not get this syndrome no matter where I go..even in Puttaparthi I will be just the same as how I am.

But my parents and brothers somehow become extremely holy for a while after a visit to a Puttaparthi.

I guess I don't get the syndrome cos I know myself too well.

In Puttaparthi my brother/dad etc wont miss any prayer..they will attend Nagarsankirtan in morning, Suprabhatam, join all bhajans etc..for me somehow I only go for Darshan when Baba used to come for it before.
Otherwise I seldom join any prayers.

Other times I will be roaming around the shops..walking around some places ,chit chat with some devotees from other countries, buying some books etc.

My mum will tell me "you have not come for a holiday..you are supposed to be praying"

I feel pilgrimage should be fun cos I know myself too well..I really can't adhere too much to rigid rules.
So I like to be free and enjoy what I am doing and that's why I don't get that syndrome!LOL

Dear Renu,

No wonder they get spiritually so high during the kshetraadanam.

They keep pumping in prayers, meditations, pravachanams, etc.

So the body becomes a holy ballon until it can take no more.

All balloons, however tightly knotted, lose air slowly and steadily and become

deflated soon. The same thing happens to these holy balloons also.

It is best to be oneself always. No inflating or deflating.

Images people build with so much efforts are imaginary and will not last long!

Dear A M Sir,
One honest doubt! When is the get-together and who are 'All' in the list of invitees? :grouphug:

P.S: The quoted post of yours is dated 5th March 2013!

Welcome back Anand Manohar,

I wish I was there to get some prasadam from all the holy shrines you visited.. anyway, I wish you the best and your journey will remain with you a long time.. hopefully I will be able to see some of the members when I come to Madras.. I know Raji is in Madras..

TAke care..

Bushu/Subhalakshmi :-)

Dear Smt RR

Please, you need have no doubt actually. Soon as I got back, the Brahmotsavam [ Marundeeswarar Temple ]
started and finishes with Panguni Paruvam. Moreover I sort-of took it easy because Dr Renu indicated
that she'd be in Chennai in August for her Higher Sanskrit Course / Exam.

Ravi [ Sheikh ] too must be having his vacation and should be in Chennai around that time. Now it looks
like Smt Subbulakshmi also will here. So, that's three very important and involved people I thought it was
worth waiting for.

That really is the cause of the delay. Hope you will bear with me. However, if you wish, I could come any day
and hand over the Maha Prasadam to you and Mama.

The Prasadam doesn't belong to me - The Almighty is only using me as a conduit / courier to ensure it
reaches assigned people.

Your feedback on this, most welcome.
