And ........

Top portion + jeerA and miLagu powder will be Rasam;
Bottom portion + cooked veg will be SambAr. :peace:

Non brahmins will prepare an combo item called sambarrasa After preparing it they. Will. Remote the upper portion as rasam and keep the bottom as sambar.It. seems RR idea must. be the same but that is to be mixed with jeer a and pepper powder for rasam. And some cooked vegi for sambar. Why we. brahmins aRe not using our traditional name kuzambu for sambar. I think kuziambu is the exclusive name to be used only by brahmins.WHY Should we leave it and use Sambar.

I am surprised to read this for the 2nd time in forum....I have never heard of top portion of sambar being used as rasam by those who are not Tamil Brahmins.

The recipe for rasam is totally different from sambar.

Kuzhambu is quite a common word used even in Non TB homes.

BTW why isnt the Sanskrit word for Sambar used in India?

The Sanskrit word for Sambar is kvathita
