Quotable Quotes Part II

[h=1]தவத்தில் வெல்லலாம்[/h]
கல் நழுவிக் கீழே விழுவது எளிது;

தவம், தியானம் செய்வது வழக்கம்;

பண்ணின தவம் என்றுமே வீணாகாது;

நீரில் விழுந்து விடுவார் நிச்சயமாக;

War

The war is just which is necessary. :high5:
Niccolo Machiavelli

I have loved war too well. :love:
Louis XIV of France.

God is always on the side of the heaviest battalions. :peace:

In a war there is no substitute for Victory. :first:

fortunate people get admitted in good school
guruvayurappan

There is ONLY one school ...that is run by experience.
Experience keeps a hard school but :whip:
some people will learn nowhere else.
Some others may refuse to learn even in that school. :hand:
They are the people who go through life
unruffled, unrefined and unafraid! :llama:

War

Everyone may begin a war at his pleasure but cannot so finish it.
A prince, therefore, before engaging in any enterprise,
should well measure his strength and govern himself accordingly.
Niccolo Machiavelli.

The whole art of war consists in getting at what is on the other side of the hill,
or, in other words, in learning what we do not know from what we do.
Duke of Wellington

We hear about 'fire-proof' fibers, 'shatter-proof' glass,
'bullet-proof' vests, 'heat-proof' handles, and 'fool-proof' methods!!!
What is this type of onslaught called??? :confused:

To know that we know what we know, and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge.

Nicolaus Copernicus

(1473-1543)

Those who know that the consensus of many centuries has sanctioned the conception that the earth remains at rest in the middle of the heavens as its center, would, I reflected, regard it as an insane pronouncement if I made the opposite assertion that the earth moves.

Nicolaus Copernicus
(1473-1543)

To know the mighty works of God, to comprehend His wisdom and majesty and power; to appreciate, in degree, the wonderful workings of His laws, surely all this must be a pleasing and acceptable mode of worship to the Most High, to whom ignorance cannot be more grateful than knowledge.

Nicolaus Copernicus
(1473-1543)

Therefore, when I considered this carefully, the contempt which I had to fear because of the novelty and apparent absurdity of my view, nearly induced me to abandon utterly the work I had begun.

Nicolaus Copernicus
(1473-1543)

For I am not so enamored of my own opinions that I disregard what others may think of them. I am aware that a philosopher's ideas are not subject to the judgment of ordinary persons, because it is his endeavor to seek the truth in all things, to the extent permitted to human reason by God. Yet I hold that completely erroneous views should be shunned. Those who know that the consensus of many centuries has sanctioned the conception that the earth remains at rest in the middle of the heaven as its center would, I reflected, regard it as an insane pronouncement if I made the opposite assertion that the earth moves

Nicolaus Copernicus

Nicolaus Copernicus

But accepting that he /she does not know something is the greatest hurdle in gathering knowledge. People will rather sit with a complacent smile and pretend to understand everything( and remain ignorant for life) than ask for clarification.

All new theories receive an unwelcome-welcome first! :bored:

People resist changes even in concepts and theories. :hand:
