Kalka Devi Temple located in Lakhna town of Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, is unique in a way that an idol of Goddess Kalka i.e Durga and a Maazar of Saiyyed Baba, who was the devotee of the Goddess, co-exist in the same campus. Not just that, a Dalit priest takes care of it!
India has been a really secular country until our politicians started wearing the garb of secularism.

Artificial ripening of fruits
It is necessary to create a wide awakening among the public about the harmful effects of artificial ripening of fruits. A fresh and shiny fruit may not be really frsh but may get that appearance because of chemicals and other processes used which are inimical to human health.
In March, food safety officials seized a total of 4,000kg of artificially ripened fruits from the wholesale market in Koyambedu, including mangoes, sapotta and papaya. They also seized 75kg of calcium carbide stones. Food safety officials said during the inspection, many of the vendors claimed that they were in the dark about the harmful effects of calcium carbide, known to damage the kidney and liver and cause ulcers and gastric problems.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has told schools affiliated to it that educational institutions are not commercial establishments and sale of books, uniforms and stationery by them is a violation of norms.

This is a welcome move. This rule should be extended by all state governments to both the government and private schools. Of course this is not a problem reported by the state schools, but seems to be the most contentious problem with private schools, which already charges students exorbitantly but also compel them to purchase the uniforms including shoes and ties, books, note books and stationery Only through them at nearly twice the market price. This exploitation of students by private schools should stop and those failing to comply with this requirement should be debarred from running those schools.

An advisory has been issued following complaints from parents and stakeholders that schools are indulging in commercial activities by way of selling books and uniforms within the school premises or through selected vendors

Sathyaraj expresses regret. News
It seems ho spoke offensively against kanadigas some nine yeas back at the time of the cauvery conflict between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. I don't know why this issue was given fresh lease of life after nine years and a shut down was announced in Karnataka protesting against the release of Baghubali. Anyway, Sathyaraj was magnanimous enough not to make an issue of it and apologised in the larger interest of the film world and the film maker.

Genabhai Dharghabai Patel
A disabled divyang farmer from a village of Banaskantha district,Gujarat, Genabhai is better known as “anar dada.” Why? ervice Charges in Restaurants
"A component of service is inherent in provision of food and beverages ordered by the customer, and thus pricing of those products is expected to cover both goods and service components. Charging for anything other than charges on menu card without express consent of the customer amounts to unfair trade practice as defined under the act," the guidelines issued by the Centre stated.
SERVICE CHARGE ITSELF IS A NONSENSE AND TO IMPOSE SERVICE CHARGES IN HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS IS A GREATER IDIOTIC NONSENSE. I have been saying this ever since this service charge concept was introduced. It is a silly and stupid method of cheating and looting the public.
In hotels, the price of a commodity is fixed based on all costs including the labour and service provided by the staff. So this additional service charge is the most stupid thing one can think of. It is good the central government has done away with it. In fact, instead of keeping it as an option, it should altogether be abolished and the licence of any establishment insisting on it should be cancelled

t is a well known fact that many schools do not have teachers and other schools that have teachers have them on their rolls only who are occasionally found in their schools, and most of them not to be found within the school premises. Many school teachers take to teaching as a part time business, concentrating their time more on other household economic activities. When such is the state of affairs in many of the public schools run by governments and Panchayats, it is heartening to note that one school teacher has come forward to spend HER money for the improvement of the school in which she is working. A rare gesture indeed. Let us congratulate the lady and laud her stand. Not all may be able to follow this example. At least they can render a sincere and conscious service justifying their employment.
This teacher has made a lot of difference in a short time, but doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon as she seeks to fill the gap between quality of education between government and private institutions.

Police have registered a case against people, who run an orphanage in Hyderabad, for allegedly making teenage girls clean a manhole around the hostel.
According to a report in NDTV, the incident, where a girl was inside a manhole to clean it, took place on Saturday and was caught on a camera by a passerby. A few other girls assisted the one inside the manhole.
Police have registered the case under section 75 of Justice Juvenile Act and are questioning the people who run the orphanage.
The orphanage, located in Hyderabad's Uppal area, is home to as many as 200 children. News
Every other day we come across cases of workers dying while cleaning manholes. First of all cleaning manholes manually is itself an insult to human dignity and to ask girls to do this risky job BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE TO QUESTION THE ORPHANAGE AND TO SUPPORT THESE ORPHANS IS NOT ONLY INHUMAN but against law. Severe action should be initiated against the orphanage.

Teachers found absent from schools, suspended on DM's order
On anonymity, an official of BSA office said, "In few villages we found that teachers had hired a private tutor on monthly salary of Rs 500-1500 to teach students, while the teacher himself/herself preferred to stay home and withdraw salary."
The action was taken after two months of observation by team constituted by K Vijayendra Pandian DM of Kasganj, who secretly visited schools in villages and submitted the report about defaulters.
Unfortunately, this is the condition prevailing in many of the public schools in the country. Such surprise checks as done in UP will go a long way in improving the situation. Any amount of infrastructural improvements and facilities will go to waste until this vital problem is corrected which is the backbone of education.
