A Fact That Is Not Known To The Outside World About JAPAN
In central Tokyo’s bustling neighbourhoods, it’s common to find signs outside establishments, from barber shops to taverns, stating: “Foreigners Welcome”. That these are necessary only highlights how there are places in Japan — guest houses, massage parlours, restaurants — where foreigners are unwelcome.
Justifications for barring entry to foreigners range from worries about communicating with non-Japanese speakers (although many foreigners do speak Japanese), to the notion that foreigners don’t know how to behave in Japanese settings (such as taking off their shoes and speaking softly). Some claim that the real aim of these restrictions is to keep large groups of loud-mouthed Chinese tourists from “spoiling” the atmosphere. Other foreigners are merely collateral damage.
Results of survey
A new survey carried out by Japan’s Justice Ministry reveals that nearly a third of foreign residents in Japan say they have experienced derogatory remarks because of their racial background, while about 40% have suffered housing discrimination. Of the 18,500 foreigners surveyed, 4,252 responded, the majority identified as Chinese and Korean. Over 40% had lived in Japan for more than a decade.

The Azaan call early morning: is it secularism?
Hindu Temples are not allowed to sing DEvotional music over a loud mike. Why this discrimination?
Siddiqui’s post comes a week after singer Sonu Nigam took to Twitter to express his displeasure on being woken up by the morning prayer call. In a series of tweets, the singer wrote: “God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India. I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity to wake up people who don't follow the religion.

The SC order of closing down all the tasmac shops and bars which lie within 500meters of the main road is circumvented by trickery.
The issue pertains to a circular issued by the Commissioner of Municipal Administration dated April 21, directing the officers concerned to pass resolutions to hand over roads belonging to various departments including the State Highways to the respective Corporations/Municipalities. The circular was justified on the ground that it would facilitate easy maintenance of such roads.

A man in Japan living over a public Toilet.
In our country It is common even today in some localities, the public toilets are occupied by gypsies and the slum dwellers nearby storing their personal belongings, using it as a bath room and in some case as a living room. But the case presented below is a little different.
A 54-year-old man in Japan has been arrested for living above a public toilet, where he had stored about 300 bottles of his urine. He had been living there for the past three years and also had a gas stove, heater and clothes in his makeshift home above the restroom.
According to a report in Daily Mail, the Usuki police arrested the man, Takashi Yamanouchi, after an electrician, who had come to install a light above the restroom, spotted a man’s shadow and informed the workers at the toilet.
Yamanouchi, who had been homeless for the past 10 years, was charged for trespassing, authorities said.
Police said that the bottles of urine were both in two litre and 500 ml and were neatly arranged. However, police are unsure why he was collecting his urine. ( Planning any agitation?)
In order to arrest homeless Yamanouchi, the authorities had crawl through a 50-square-centimetre service hatch.
Yamanouchi found out this place above the restroom when he saw someone else climbing through the hole and he shared his space with him for a brief period, police said. ( Sharing in distress?)

Adithyanath reduces holidays for government servants and schools
The governments, both State and centre, whether they are known for efficient work or not ( why this doubt?), they are known for the number of official holidays in a year. Then the government servants have their own casual leave of 15 days per year which can be clubbed with regular holidays to get a continuous ten days of leave at a stretch. In addition, they have earned leave at the rate 11 days per year, which can be accumulated up to five years in one's life time, medical leave with salary of five years during the service, about ten to fifteen days in a year when they resort to strikes and agitations, stay in strike which most government employees silently resort to, permissions every month on personal grounds amounting to a few days every year, bus and transport strikes that help them stay away with impunity from office, one third of every day spent in canteens, chitchatting with insiders and outsiders and so on. The net result is they don't get time to work. So no use blaming them. If an officer is strict, he will be so at his own peril. To add insult to injury, either the government does not exist or the existing government does not act. Because of a conscious few, the government machinery grinds on and such of those people get more work and their colleagues who shirk and who have a political backing get promotions.
This attitude helps to do less work with more men and throws opportunity for appointment of more people to do that "less work" and thus helps to solve unemployment problem!
Now Shri Adithyanath , CM of UP is trying to correct this tendency and as one of his measures has reduced the number of declared holidays considerably. The cancellation of holiday for Eid Milad Un Nabi, however may create an impression that he is a Hindutva man dishonouring Muslim sentiments. He could declare it as a special holiday for muslims only.
His move even though laudable is likely to meet with stiff opposition from all the government servants, since it affects their fundamental right to delay, shirk and not to work. This will be utilised by the opposition to criticise him to garner the support of the government servants and their families.
You may remember that Jayalalithaa during her tenure dismissed nearly a lakh of government servants to improve administration, but she miserably failed in the immediately following elections and so reinstated all of them in service subsequently when she rode back to power and also implemented the central scales of pay to her employees with DA rise to go with the centre whenever centre increased the DA of its servants. Since the cooperation of the government servants are absolutely essential for the state schemes to be implemented, she had to yield to their demands. I think that Adithyanath may also face a similar situation in future and that may affect the prospects of the party in UP in the ensuing elections. That is the problem with democracy. In spite of being very strict, he must use carrots for promoting efficiency in service for which there is no provision at present in government service.

UP: Adityanath govt cancels 15 public holidays in schools, colleges
An official release later clarified that government employees were free to avail restricted holidays on these days.

Social Media
When I go through the comments and reactions of some in facebook , Thuglak Fan club and certain other groups, I really felt for a moment whether I should continue to write in such a media where some riffraffs are using the most obscene language against people and personalities. While the main write-up is subject to approval based on the topic presented, there is no censor on the comments and replies where people write all rubbish and filth attacking in the vilest terms people and leaders whom they hate.
While we have every right to agree or disagree, the way in which criticisms are made makes me shudder with shame and contempt and I have a mind to quit the social media. This media have become the tool of those ugly elements to spew venom on people in the crudest and ugliest way possible. The misinformation and hate that is spread through media offsets the advantages it gives and helps to poison an entire community against another and this may ultimately spoil the slender harmony that is existing at present. I find more emotions and hatred in what they write than reasoning. It is unfortunate that today Tamil Nadu is governed by raw emotion in the name of rationality by rabid elements. Tamil Nadu needs to be saved from these evil hands before it is too late.

The story of another Jansi Rani

Lost in the pages of history is the tale of an incredible warrior and woman named Jhalkari Bai.

Hailing from a humble background, she rose the ranks to become an advisor to the legendary Rani Laxmibai. In fact, so courageous was she that during the battle of fort of Jhansi, she disguised herself as Rani Laxmibai and took command of the army, thus giving the real queen a chance to escape in the meantime.

A prominent fighter during the Rebellion of 1857, one woman driven by sheer fortitude and courage was able to strike fear in the hearts of the British army and leave behind a rich legacy for millions to emulate.

This is her story.

Born on November 22, 1830, Jhalkari, was born to Sadoba Singh and Jamuna Devi in Bhojla village near Jhansi. The only child to her parents, her father had to raise her as a single parent when her mother passed away unexpectedly when Jhalkari was still very young.

Since the family was poor and part of the Kori caste (a Dalit community that was oppressed), she didn’t have the opportunity to go to school and get a formal education. However, right since her childhood she was taught to wield a weapon skillfully and given horseback-riding lessons.

Tales of her bravery continue to be told in various households in Jhansi. It is said that once when dacoits tried to raid the house of a businessman living in the village, it was Jhalkari who single-handedly drove them away. She is also said to have killed a tiger with her axe when the animal tried attacking her once in the jungle.

There is also a popular tale about how she once took on a leopard (again in the jungle) with just a stick.

Jhalkari may have never met Rani Laxmibai had it not been for her betrothal to Puran Singh, a soldier in the queen’s army. Said to be a soldier of great caliber, his skills were quickly recognised by the generals in the court. And it was also around this time that the fateful meeting between Jhalkaribai and the warrior queen would take place.

During Gauri Puja, Jhalkari went to the fort along with a number of women from the village. It was there that the legendary ‘Jhansi ki Rani’ spotted her. And she was taken aback by the uncanny resemblance she shared with Jhalkari, and inquired about her immediately. When the queen was briefed on Jhalkari’s brave acts, she was quickly inducted into the women’s wing of the army. Here she was trained to shoot and ignite cannons as the army was preparing for a British invasion.

“Why is it that it is very difficult to make a distinction between a poor farmer and a rich farmer... When you say farmer, people think that you are going after the poor farmer... So what is it about political discourse that does not allow these distinctions to be made? Why can’t we say, rich regardless of where they get their income, should be taxed,” Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian said.
Tax the RICH farmers who amass wealth but hide under the disguise of a poor farmer. There are many rich farmers who use the small lease holders and farmers under them to take loans and then fight to get them written off. It is time that those farmers are taxed,

Rich farmers should be taxed, asserts chief economic adviser
Arvind Subramanian also stressed that there is a need to make a clear distinction between poor and rich farmer.

he target of installing 30,000 bio-toilets for 2016-17, set by railway minister Suresh Prabhu in the budget speech in February 2016, has been surpassed by 13.33%, with 34,000 bio-toilets installed. Ten of the 16 zones, including Southern Railway, have exceeded their target; North-Eastern Railway (NER) and South Western Railway (SWR) retro-fitted 231% and 206% of the targets. Southern Railway added 42% more bio-toilets over the target, or an additional 924 units.
Bio-toilets ensure that fecal matter from trains does not fall onto the tracks. It is bio-digested in a tank using indigenous technology and a non-corrosive liquid is discharged.
This is long over due. By way of a joke, I used to say that the richest track in the country is the railway track. We all know how our railway platforms stink. the entire railway line is a receptale of fecal matter and the workers on the tracks are the most affected. Until now Railways were contributing their own proble4m of insanitation and thanks to the biotoilets, it is becominh a thing of the past. It looks as though the day is notfar off for our railways present a pleasant picture.

Target surpassed: 33% more bio-toilets on trains - Times of India
Chennai: The railways may be slowly limping back on the passenger and revenue fronts after two rough years, but installation of bio-toilets on trains has exceeded targets,…

Two-third of the railway track handled passenger traffic, which accounted for one-third of the revenues. Whereas the freight, which accounted for two-third revenues, was given the least priority. “So, when the Dedicated Freight Corridoors (DFC) come up, major trunk routes will operate on them, so that other track are freed for passenger traffic,” the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said.
The railways would provide confirmed tickets on demand on all trains by 2020, he said on Friday. This would be possible once the existing network capacity is freed up for passengers by opening up dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) by 2019 and increasing the capacity on the existing routes.

If implemented, that will be a boon for the travelling public. However the priority is SAFETY for the passengers.
