All the accused in the Sankararaman murder case including Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati have been acquitted. The court acquitted all the accused saying the complainant failed to support the prosecution.
Sankararaman's wife and daughter did not recognise the accused and failed to support the prosecution. A total of 20 witnesses were examined to prove the murder but most failed to support prosecution.

the verdict on sankararaman murder case will be delivered today.

Live! Shankaraman murder: Kanchi Shankaracharya, all 22 accused acquitted - Rediff.com India News

11:04 Live! Shankaraman murder: Shankaracharya, all 22 accused acquitted: Just in: All 23 accused including Kanchi Mutt seers Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra -- the prime accused in the high profile 2004 Sankararaman murder case -- have been acquitted.

A Puducherry court delivered its verdict today after a trial which ran for over nine years. A Sankararaman, manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple at Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, was allegedly murdered on September 3, 2004, in the temple premises.

Then, who did it? The family is entitled to an answer.

But there will be any number of people who will doubt this verdict and throw mud at Shankaracharya. In any case, despite his aquittal his status has come down a few notches.

They may not!!
Why not? They may not get one, because of the powerful forces involved, but they are entitled to one, i.e. if we live in a truly democratic and free society. But we kid ourselves don't we, if we believe in such nonsense. The powerful always get away, even with murder, literally....

Why few notches..?? The moment he ranaway from the Mutt.. his credibility took the nose-dive...''

His activities in the real estate dealings were not in the correct perspective for a Sanyasi..

We do not live in a truly democratic and free society . This is again a sad reality we need to live with .

I am not surprised by this verdict . The Investigative agencies are making the same mistakes time and again . If A and B are known enemies and if B is killed then they automatically come to the conclusion that only A could have done it .It is OK for normal people to think like that but not professional Investigative agencies .
If A and B are enemies then if B is killed then while they can have the suspicion on A but at the same time they must keep their minds open to other possibilities on finding whether B has any hidden enemies like C ( who are not known to the public ) , or a third Party like D who has no enemity with B but has a grudge against A and want to settle scores with him by killing B and letting A suffer the consequences for the same .

Professional Investigative agencies must be open to all these possibilities and rely purely on forensic evidence to nail the culprits in a Scientific manner without giving room for any bias .But most of the time due to pressure from the ruling establishment or pressure from Media or due to their own over enthusiasm in proving to the world they can solve this crime easily they jump in to hasty conclusions before hand and start investigating in only one particular direction and collect evidence in that direction only without exploring the other ways to first collect evidence from all possible angles and then go about nailing the culprits .
But Whether they will be really allowed to explore all angles freely and scientifically by the successive ruling establishment in all cases I do not know .

I feel that the Law of Karma will take its own mysterious course. Is there not a possibility that the family of Sankararaman is "enabled" to go in appeal? Only requirement is that such a course should be worthwhile.

Since I still hold on to the view that Chandrasekhara Saraswathy had managed somehow to create a new mutt at Kancheepuram and also make ready all the attendant paraphernalia like a guruparampara of 67 pontiffs adorning that (imaginary?) Peetham for a total of nearly 2500 years or more and possibly a Shankara Vijayam too to buttress his own views, I feel that the Law of Karma has already started working to dismantle the whole facade.

Shringeri mutt may be smiling!!

The respected Kanchi mutt head is going to Tirupati after hearing the verdict. Perhaps to tell Tiruvenkatamudaiyan the truth and to seek his pardon for renaming him Venkatasubramani once. LOL.

I envy the freedom an atheist/half atheist has in this forum. He can always get away with all this. But if I say anything like this, some one would have gone to the SM and sought my ouster from the forum and........yes, that would have been conceded, post haste, too. LOL.

This is what Dinamalar news says:

The deity in Tirumala temple was at one believed to be subramanya. There are some literary evidences for this I am told.
