Nitish kumar is not a first term Chief Minister of Bihar.

He is a seasoned politician and acting as Chief Minister of Bihar since 2005 and knows the pulse of the Bihar womenfolk than the author of the above article.

What is important is the display of empathy and honoring commitment made to the electorates and initiation of welfare measures without dilly dallying the issue on the pretext of debate, discussion, etc etc.

He has now got four full months’ time to plan and to implement ‘Prohibition’ in a more better way taking into consideration the anticipated loss to the Government.

There may be lot of avenues to earn more revenue to run the Government with 'Prohibition' in force.

Let us allow such politicians to do more such blunders protecting the interest of womenfolk of Bihar.

Definitely heavens will not going to fall becos of such blunders.

Some statistics regarding liquor

Andhra has the highest number of alcohol consumers. Bihar is in top five.

An average indian male drinks 32 litres per capita versus 18 litres of UK, US.

So states like bihar might have a problem.

What is harmful is not consumption per se but due to heavy episode drinking-ie going on drinking binges and consume so much that one falls apart in one long session.

An average indian villager consumes 11.4 litres per year. Bihar villagers consume twice the national average.

When there was prohibition in tamil nadu, people would go to pondichery for weekend and get over drunk and fall on the roadsides. they had to have the full weeks

quota in two days. But locals drank in moderation as they could have it whenever they wanted it.Openness is sometimes preferable to bans.

Indian society is leaky Ideas like prohibition or social spending in welfare schemes lead only to middle men collecting a cut for providing services.

Prohibition era gangster in US Al Capone said' I am like any other man. All I do is supply a demand'. India will also breed Al Capones if prohibition is tried.

The one service TN govt is operating in full swing: Tasmac liquor outlets.

Several shops did brisk business

Come hell or high water, but the state-run liquor shops were open in many parts of the city and the brisk business has not gone unnoticed.

Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) shops selling liquor have been functioning without a stop for the past one week, even in areas that saw varied levels of flooding. In some places, women volunteers were reportedly harassed by inebriated customers.

TASMAC shops in Nungambakkam, Choolaimedu, Anna Nagar and Arumbakkam have been functioning from 11AM to 10PM for the last week, except for the few hours when they were shut due to water-logging or blocked roads. Several Twitter users too posted about the shops being open and harassment on account of customers.

Yesterday, there was an agitation in Saidapet demanding power supply to their houses. Agitators questioned how power was given to TASMAC shop alone in their area.

Perhaps it is to guide the "citizens"
