Will this be the last gasp for Trump?

[h=1]11 days before US polls, FBI reopens probe into Clinton's emails[/h]October 28, 2016 23:09

The FBI is reopening the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, the bureau's director said in a letter to lawmakers on Friday, a surprise twist in a turbulent campaign just 11 days before election day.

In a note to congressional committee chairs, FBI director James Comey said that the FBI had discovered additional emails relevant to the investigation into Clinton's and that agents were examining the emails to determine whether they contain classified information.

There was no additional information about what the emails contain or how long the investigation could take.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation," said Comey.

"I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation."

Clinton, Trump separated by 1 point in latest poll

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are separated by a single point in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll one week after that survey showed Clinton holding a 12-point lead.

The poll, released Sunday, has Clinton with 46 per cent voter support and Trump with 45 per cent.

The candidates were within 2 per cent of each other on September 22, but Clinton built a double-digit lead after her challenger's erratic debate performances and mounting sexual harassment accusations. Sunday's poll says Trump also took a hit by having House Speaker Paul Ryan refuse to keep campaigning for him.

But Clinton's lead has diminished after FBI Director James Comey announced Friday the bureau is investigating new emails that could be related to Clinton's use of a private email server.

US election: Donald Trump takes one-point lead over Hillary Clinton in ABC News poll

It is Mr Trump's first lead in the American ABC News poll since May, though it is a poll that has been particularly volatile.Latest national polling shows US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are neck-and-neck, with Mr Trump leading by just one point — well within the margin of error.

An average of national polls puts Mrs Clinton ahead by just on four points.
Mr Trump's most recent campaign stop was Pennsylvania, a critical state that he needs to win in order to secure a path to the White House.
Mrs Clinton is ahead in Pennsylvania and is preparing to make three campaign stops in Florida.

A top aide to Mrs Clinton has urged the FBI to disclose what it knows about any ties between Mr Trump and Russia, accusing the law enforcement agency of unfairly publicising its inquiry into Mrs Clinton's email practices while staying quiet about Mr Trump. The latest poll comes as the Clinton campaign tries to contain the damage from FBI director James Comey's announcement of new emails that might pertain to Mrs Clinton's use of a private server while secretary of state.

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook questioned why the FBI's director had not released any information about its investigation into Russia's role in the US election or ties to Mr Trump and his senior aides.
"If you're in the business of releasing information about investigations on presidential candidates, release everything you have on Donald Trump. Release the information on his connections to the Russians," Mr Mook said on CNN.
"They don't say a thing when it comes to Donald Trump and investigations against him, yet when it comes to Hillary Clinton, for some reason, they are more than happy to talk.
according to sources familiar with the matter.
In an effort to shift the focus away from the latest trove of emails and back to Mr Trump's vulnerabilities, the Clinton campaign released a provocative new ad raising the specter of a possible nuclear war if Mr Trump is elected president.
Mrs Clinton emphasised the message that Mr Trump has a bad temper and an overly cavalier attitude toward nuclear weapons at rallies in the battleground state of Ohio yesterday.
Mr Trump, however, urged people who voted early for his Democratic rival to cancel their ballots and switch to him.
"This is a message for any Democratic voters who have already cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton and who are having a bad case of buyer's remorse, in other words you want to change your vote," Mr Trump told a Wisconsin rally.
"So if you live here or in Michigan or Pennsylvania or Minnesota, you can change your vote to Donald Trump," he said.
Several states, including those cited by Mr Trump, have a process to allow voters who cast early ballots to change their votes, either by submitting new ballots or showing up at their polling place on election day.

I think similar to Modi, the media has created a negative image of Trump in US...Otherwise how do we explain the sudden turn in fortunes for Trump just before elections....If Trump wins despite Media's revulsion it will be a turning point in US history

As of now it is neck to neck. The last hour twist could possibly change his fortune.

Prasadji,

But what is the pulse in US now?
Why? Is Prasdji a doctor with his finger tips on the veins of America?
We are all just reacting to media reports. This is going to be a nail biting race for all concerned.
Donald claims election is rigged and if he wins, then what?
He is already recommending people to vote twice if they have already voted for Hillary to go change it.
One woman did try to vote twice and got caught.

.

When someone who has stayed in USA & has experienced several elections share their pulse of the election it carries more weightage, significance & closer to reality than someone from some obscure part of India, I guess!! For example the sexcapades of US politicians is not a big issue in US elections and its citizens care 2 hoots for that is something which which only a native of US knows & can comment!!

That is not quite true. In Wisconsin, where he suggested this, it is possible legally change an early voting ballot up to 3 times.

Trump may be dumb, but he is not dumb.

For your kind info I am living in US for the last 35+ yrs and am a voting citizen and more concerned about these elections than anyone from India. Indians are interested in Trump because of his wealth and his behavior like a typical Indian politician alias thug. So if you are not a US citizen you are entitled to your views as an outsider observing, that's all. Here were are even reconsidering our travel plans because of the elections on Nov 8th.

Since launching Full Frontal nearly nine months ago, Samantha Bee has hosted 28 installments of her game-changing late-night show. One way or another, Donald Trump has appeared in every single episode. With less than a week to go until Election Day, she is desperately hoping that’s about to change.

Like most Hillary Clinton supporters, Bee is a lot less confident about the outcome of the election now than she was just five days earlier, before FBI Director James Comey decided to throw one more October surprise into the mix. Thinking about the unspeakable scenario that, according to Nate Silver, currently has more than a one-in-four chance of happening on Election Day makes Bee feel like she could burst into tears. “I have a lot of agita,” she tells me. “I think that we all do. I feel like we’re all going to have great, national PTSD once this is all done.”
Looking at the long week between now and what, with any luck, will be a definitive result on Nov. 8, Bee says she’s more concerned with what happens after the election. “I’m not sure what the next day looks like,” she says, an air of true concern in her voice. “I’m not sure what November 9th looks like.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...-wait-to-stop-talking-about-donald-trump.html

The ABC News/Washington Post national tracking poll shows Republican nominee Donald Trump closing the gap on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Over just 8 days, the poll went from a 50-38 strong Clinton lead to an insignificant 46-45 Trump lead as the presidential election approaches.
That poll is the most extreme example, but over the last week, Republicans are returning to their prior levels of support for Trump after a lackluster month.
Much of that movement in the polls, including the spread in the ABC/Washington Post poll, occurred before FBI director James Comey’s announcement that the bureau is looking into more emails that could be related to Clinton’s private email use while she was secretary of state. The FBI investigation doesn’t seem to have affected views of Clinton, but there’s evidence that it could have taken a toll on enthusiasm to vote for her.

The early voting returns show two unsurprising things. One is that black voters are turning out in smaller numbers in some areas than they did in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. The other is that the relatively lighter turnout is in marked contrast to the near record turnout among black voters for candidate Obama in 2008 and President Obama in 2012.

Much shouldn’t be made of this for the simple fact that Clinton is not Obama. Clinton doesn’t need to match his total among black votes to win the White House. Clinton could never duplicate the euphoria that Obama generated among blacks. His candidacy was not seen as a candidacy, but a crusade — a history-making crusade. Blacks did not just see this as a chance to put a black president in office, but a chance to snatch a piece of history along the way.

Obama was seen not as a distant, remote, traditional presidential candidate, but almost as a family member — someone to embrace and take personal pride in their accomplishments. Many blacks in the past were apathetic, lethargic and indifferent to the political process because they thought their vote made no difference, or because of their antipathy to the Democrats, whom they accused of plantationism for taking the black vote for granted and giving little in return.

Hi TB's for Trump/Hillary,
I attended a Clinton rally in Tempe, AZ yesterday. We all waited for nearly 2 hrs for her. She spoke very well and she had a favorable charisma and appeal as far as I could see. She did mingle with the crowds and let people take selfies etc. I think she will make a decent president based on what I saw personally. She will represent America favorably to the world. Economy will progress as it is doing right now and no better. But at least America will have a good image abroad. She did attack Trump, but not in a any scathing manner, but just a hypothetical presidency of Trump in the oval office.
I was reminded of the Sound of Music
"..She's always late for everything,.....a flibbertygibbit, a willow the wisp, (but definitely not a clown!),..(and definitely not)..an asset to the Abbey!"
