"There are always two issues, one of course is the recent one, visa fee hike and the other is the old issue of totalisation charges for the IT professionals. Jaitley was responding to a question on the kind of response he received from the US Trade Representative, Mike Froman, when he strongly raised the issue during a meeting early this week.

[h=3]Vijay Mallya case: Court reserves order on ED plea seeking non-bailable warrant[/h] A special PMLA court in Mumbai on Saturday reserved its order on Enforcement Directorate's plea for non-bailable warrant against businessman Vijay Mallya for April 18. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Mallya after he refused to return to India to appear before the ED on three different occasions on investigations related to a money laundering case against him. This after Mallya failed to appear before the probe agency on April 9, despite being summoned three times by the ED. The agency had issued fresh summons to Mallya after he sought two extensions from the earlier dates of March 18 and April 2 citing official reasons.

To build pressure on the state government to act on its demand, VHP on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh justifying the need to shun British legacies - a sign of slavery and follow the trend of renaming towns and cities. The Hindu organisation has also handed over a list of other Himachal towns, including famous hill destination of Dalhousie, to be named as Subhash Nagar after Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Onion output had dropped to 189.2 lakh tonnes in 2014-15 crop year (July-June) due to poor rains. The previous record was 194 lakh tonnes in 2013-14.

The drug bust began with the arrest of Nigerian national Sipren Chinassa by the Thane Police Crime Branch on April 10.

    Dipa Karmakar will become the first Indian woman to compete in an Olympic gymnastics competition after she secured her place for this summer's Rio Games in a test event at the weekend. Despite the sport receiving little funding in India, Commonwealth and Asian Games medallist Karmakar gathered a total score of 52.698 points in the final artistic gymnastics qualifying event in Rio to claim her place at the Games. The government stand on the matter was conveyed to the bench of Chief Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit in response to a public interest litigation by an NGO, All India Human Rights and Social Justice Forum, seeking directions to the government to make efforts for getting the diamond back to India. The court, while giving the government six more weeks, said that if it accepted the government position and dismissed the PIL, all future avenues for staking any legitimate claim over the diamond will be shut.
