A realization long over due! :)SC slams rich and powerful for wasting nation’s time

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Tuesday slammed the “rich and powerful” for misusing Article 136 to agitate over frivolous matters before it and imposed Rs 25 lakh as cost on each of the three companies as a compensation for the loss of judicial time of the country. It said the case is the proof of the abuse of the discretionary jurisdiction of the Apex Court under Article 136, which allows anybody to directly appeal against any judgment, decree, determination, sentence or order in any cause or matter passed or made by any court or tribunal in the territory of India. The Apex Court noted how the litigants wasted 18 years of enormous amount of judicial time, first before the Bombay High Court and the Delhi High Court and then before it, most of which was avoidable.

Is it due to the omission on the part of those who were cheated by this commission? :decision:

[h=3]How a ‘commission’ fooled colleges, doctors, governments and the media[/h] The Bio-Chemic Education Grant Commission (BEGC) offers accreditation to medical colleges and gives licences to doctors to practice medicine in the field of “bio-chemic”. This would seem to be like a regular government body similar to the Medical Council of India, but it isn’t. BEGC, which claims to be a statutory authority, has been deceiving colleges and doctors across India since being established around seven years ago. Based in West Bengal’s Nadia district, BEGC claims it was established under the Indian Bio-Chemic Act 2009, an act that doesn’t exist. But its notifications have appeared on the Gazette of India, the official rule book of the Indian government. How? The authorities are clueless.

Summer can render a swimming pool into a money spinner! :thumb:

[h=3]Swimming pools are now money-spinners[/h] Hyderabad: Lack of strict rules and guidelines to monitor private swimming pools has turned this sector into a money minting business. Most of the pools operate in small spaces, while what is specified is a mininimum of one acre Officials say the government should frame a clear policy, in the absence of which it is difficult for them to monitor private pools. The managements should also ensure that all safety measures are adhered to. The rules should be displayed, but this is not often done by private pools. Dr Prem Sagar, director for sports at GHMC, said swimming pools have become a spinner. Standard pool sizes should be 50x25 metres or 25x25 metres with a depth of around 7 feet, and must be

Children are too precious to be ignored!

[h=3]Stickers of children stepping onto road should make you slow down[/h] Road safety awareness often means graphic advertising, but a new campaign is a taking a visual, creative approach to making drivers aware on the streets. The Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) have released a series of stickers on Friday that can be placed on roadside garbage bins, featuring children stepping towards the road and speed limit signs. SEE ALSO: You never knew farm supply adverts could be this beautiful They've been dubbed life saving stickers by the foundation, aiming to provide a bold reminder to drivers on suburban streets. "We believe these stickers have the potential to have a real impact on our roads," Russell White, ARSF CEO, said in a statement via email. Image: Australian Road Safety Foundation It is hoped drivers have an emotional reaction to the stickers, and think of the reality of a child running out onto the road. "We have seen some very effective road safety campaigns in recent years that highlight the danger that speeding poses to children crossing streets," White said. "The 'Life Saving' sticker campaign builds on this education process, by providing a real-time reminder to motorists to reduce their speed." According to statistics by Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics, the majority of fatal crashes occur on a weekday during the day. It's when children are most likely crossing roads, according to the ARSF. Aside from being a cool little addition to a usually dreary garbage bin, it's a small gesture that could save lives on the road.
