Delivering 91 at the age of 92??? :faint:

[h=3]Kerala election results: 92-year-old V S Achuthanandan delivers 91[/h] The CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) staged a fascinating comeback in Kerala, winning 91 of 140 Assembly seats, as the incumbency- and scam-hit UDF led by the Congress managed to win only 47 seats. While Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan is the CM candidate, what is keenly watched is how the party would accommodate Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, who had led the LDF campaign. Achuthanandan had also taken on NDA alliance partner SNDP Yogam leader Vellappally Natesan, which helped CPM in a big way in this election by neutralising Natesan’s BDJS and retaining support of the crucial Ezhava community.

[h=3]Raghuram Rajan under fire: Nothing new for an RBI Governor[/h] Sometime in 2008, during the UPA government's term, UK Prime Minister Gordan Brown discussed with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh the role of YV Reddy, the governor of the Reserve Bank of India. It may sound flattering of course, but at the end of his term in early September 2008, Reddy moved out with many complimenting him much later for not giving in to pressure to open up the financial sector in India. The parallel then and now in some ways is the perception of the leadership of the central bank chief in India and abroad.

[h=3]Uttar Pradesh: In Congress’ sole bid for RS berth, a ‘godman’ emerges as frontrunner[/h] Congress has set its eyes on support from Mayawati-led BSP and Ajit Jogi’s RLD to be able to send at least one legislator to the Rajya Sabha, whose 11 members from UP will finish term on July 11. Krishnam, who was Congress’s Sambhal candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, shot to fame last year when he equated Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Indian Mujahideen and blamed him for the “growing intolerance” in the country. Before Congress nominated him that year, Krishnam had floated a party, Hindustan United Movement, with support from Bareilly-based cleric Tauqir Raza.

[h=3]Kohli draws praise after becoming IPL's highest run-getter[/h] New Delhi, May 19 (ANI): Swashbuckling Indian batsman Virat Kohli has received a flurry of praises after he created history by becoming the first batsman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to reach 4000-run milestone. Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, who was nursing a finger injury, became the tournament's highest run scorer after smashing an unprecedented fourth century of the season during his side's 82-run win by Duckworth-Lewis method over Kings XI Punjab at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Describing Kohli as a 'serious' player, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner wrote on Twitter, "Even if they used a marble @imVkohli would still see it as a balloon.

[h=3]Tamil Nadu: Late Opposition surge but by then Amma welfare net had hauled in rich catch[/h] DESPITE A strong anti-incumbency wave, the ruling AIADMK, led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, won a decisive victory in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, winning 134 out of the 232 seats for which elections were held this time. The victory was historic because the last time the party came to power for the second consecutive time was in 1984, under its founder M G Ramachandran when he was undergoing treatment in the United States. The big surprise, though, was the miserable performance of the other parties, with Vijayakanth’s DMDK, which had emerged as a “Third Front” in alliance with smaller parties, and S Ramadoss’s caste-based PMK failing to win any seats.

[h=3]After MGR, Jayalalithaa the first to retain power in Tamil Nadu[/h] By mid day, the AIADMK is clearly in the driver's seat in Tamil Nadu for another five years. It is a clear win for Jayalalithaa, giving her a fourth term as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Further, this it the first time since the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M G Ramachandra Menon or MGR in 1987, that a party will return to power for a consecutive second time in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK was founded by MGR in 1972 as a breakaway group of the DMK.

Accepting required good changes and motivating others also to change for the good, are all part of matured strategies for which one should get rid of biased egoism.

Dear Sir,
I wrote a poem titled 'MethaigaLum PethaigaLum' long ago.
All but these two types of men punish their wives.

MethaigaL spare the women since they are busy engaged in more useful pursuits.
PethaigaL spare their women since they accept that the better half has better brain.

The 'saraasri' men indulge in the act of 'Niraakri' and they too have two ways of punishing their women. The fools thrash the women physically and the intelligent men taunt them verbally.

In a short but grand ceremony, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa took oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Monday, starting her sixth term as Chief Minister of the State. Mr. Stalin was spotted being seated in the 16th row at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium, the venue of the swearing-in function, which is usually avoided by Opposition leaders. Mr. Stalin won the Kolathur seat in the 2016 Tamil Nadu elections.

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko returned to Earth from their year-long mission aboard the orbiting laboratory but many of the samples critical to the continuation of research have only just made their way back to labs this week. "(It's) like Christmas in May, with frost to boot," said Scott M. Smith, principal investigator of the Biochemical Profile probe at NASA.
