[h=3]WHO sounds alarm over big Indian supplier of tuberculosis drugs[/h]By Ben Hirschler and Zeba Siddiqui LONDON/MUMBAI (Reuters) - A major Indian supplier of tuberculosis drugs to developing countries has been severely criticised by the World Health Organization for inadequate manufacturing standards and poor testing procedures. The United Nations agency issued a warning letter to Mumbai-based Svizera Labs, part of Maneesh Pharmaceuticals, stating that the approval and use of its products would be suspended if "critical and major observations are not corrected within a reasonable time frame". The move is the latest setback for India's drugs industry, a vital source of cheap generic medicines to countries worldwide which has been tarnished by a series of quality problems.

NASA sees 1 metre sea level rise ahead

Melbourne, Sept 7 (ANI): NASA has recently revealed that sea levels will rise by a metre over the next 100 to 200 years as satellite images show large sections of Greenland and Antarctica are vanishing at a much faster rate than previously thought. Experts fear a Queensland-sized ice sheet is melting so quickly it will cause massive storm surges capable of decimating Australia's coastal cities within the next century, news.com.au reported. Dr. Steve Rintoul from the CSIRO said that if the NASA predictions prove true, Australia could expect more devastating flash floods similar to the one suffered by Brisbane four years ago.

Over 1,500 officials from central and state governments took part in a day-long interaction with senior ISRO scientists where they discussed problems in which space technologies could offer some answers. Almost every ministry or department wanted ISRO to offer training facilities to their staff and help in capacity building so that they are better placed to utilise space technologies to become more efficient.
