[h=3]Price hike puts popular U.S. Disneyland annual pass over $1,000[/h] By Daina Beth Solomon LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Disneyland has hiked rates for its annual passes, a spokeswoman said on Monday, putting some prices above $1,000 for the first time as the Southern California theme park owned by Walt Disney Co cashes in on growing demand during peak seasons. One daily pass was discontinued while two costlier options were added on Sunday, a move that provoked frustration across social media with some fans saying they would not renew at higher rates. Suzi Brown, Disneyland Resort’s director of media relations, said the international tourist attraction generally raises ticket prices once a year.

[h=3]5 years on: Family gets 10-year RI for acid attack on 3 sisters, infant[/h] Three sisters, all victims of an acid attack at the hands of their eldest sister, her husband and their then 18-year-old son, were elated Monday when a Mumbai sessions court found the three guilty of attempt to murder and sentenced them to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment. “Because buying it is as easy as buying a bottle of water,” said Daulat Bi Khan (33), Reshma Khan (31) and Saira Irfan Baig (29). The three accused — Iqbal (47), Najma (36) and Zeeshan (24) — will also have to compensate the sisters and little Alina with a fine of Rs 50,000 each.

But Robin Wiliams and suicide can't go together! :nono:

[h=3]Family of Robin Williams reach settlement in legal dispute[/h] By Piya Sinha-Roy LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The widow and children of late Oscar-winning actor Robin Williams, who died by suicide last year, have reached a proposed settlement after a bitter dispute over his estate, according to court papers. The settlement, filed in San Francisco Superior Court on Oct. 2, dismissed a petition filed by the actor's widow, Susan Schneider Williams, in December 2014 and brings an end to a nearly year-long dispute over a list of over 1,200 items belonging to the late actor. The details of the proposed settlement, contingent on court approval, were not disclosed.

A brother (with two daughters) and his two sisters (one of whom is estranged from her husband and the other without any children) went to court to settle the dispute of sharing their ancestral property worth several crores.

The son wanted to have the entire thing while the daughters wanted an equal share for all the three.

The case went on for nearly two decades and finally they came to a compromise outside the court.

Flats are being built for them and may take on more year. Then they have to sell the unwanted flats to see real money!

But what is the fun of getting BIG money when they are already tool old to spend it. So twenty long youthful years were wasted in the court and their sibling relationship has become sour.

The man is in early 70s and both his sisters are older to him.

Greed ruins many relationships and wastes people's youthful years! :der:

Nobel discoveries on DNA repair now fuelling cancer drug research
[/h]When deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair mechanisms fail, they predispose people to cancer. Modrich, Tomas Lindahl and Aziz Sancar won the prize for "mechanistic studies of DNA repair." Their work mapped how cells repair DNA to prevent damaging errors from appearing in genetic information. Subsequent work by Dr. Bert Vogelstein of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Centre and Richard Kolodner, then at Harvard Medical School and currently at the University of California, San Diego, showed mismatch repair defects are the chief cause of the most common inherited form of colorectal cancer, affecting 15 percent of colon cancer patients.

[h=3]One-parent norm hurts our conscience, so no adoptions: Missionaries of Charity[/h]Refusing to allow single-parent adoptions as laid down in new guidelines, the Missionaries of Charity have stopped adoption agency operations at more than 15 adoption homes across the country for two months now. Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said Thursday that the homes do not want to “come under a uniform secular agenda”. In August, less than two months after the revised guidelines came into effect, these homes stopped facilitating adoption of children, shifting out the remaining children to other registered homes.
