[h=3]Biscuits scoring over chocolates and traditional sweets this Diwali: ASSOCHAM[/h]New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Though the festival of lights, Diwali is synonymous with sweets, but fear of spurious ingredients being used in their preparation to meet the festive demand is keeping consumers at bay. Biscuits industry is in a merry mood as there is more demand for them as compared to juices and chocolates, says a just-concluded analysis by ASSOCHAM. There is a considerable rise of about 30 percent in demand for assorted cookies, low-cal premium biscuits and bakery products this Diwali as consumers shift away from sweets amid fears of adulteration.

Har har Mahadev is ONLY thing that does not change with time! :)

Cows, dogs and seemingly other unimportant things / issues crept in!

What changed in a month? As Nitish gained likes, ‘har har Modi’ became ‘arhar Modi’

In the last week of September, Lokniti’s pre-election survey found the NDA to be ahead of the maha gathbandhan. A few weeks later, when we began our post-poll survey, we found that a significant turnaround was taking place, and the grand alliance had taken a substantial lead over the NDA. A comparison of our pre- and post-poll surveys suggests there was a late surge in favour of the grand alliance with a fairly large proportion of voters (26%) making up their minds either on voting day or just before.

I really wonder what those people eat and how they buy food
when people like us find it difficult to make the ends meet!:tsk:
Crime rate will increase too - since hunger knows no law! :(

[h=3]Rising food prices to hit rural India in 2016[/h]By Rajendra Jadhav and Suvashree Choudhury MUMBAI (Reuters) - India's villages face a sharp spike in food prices in 2016, as a second year of drought drives up the cost of ingredients such as sugar and milk, and poor transport infrastructure stops falling global prices from reaching rural areas. India's first back-to-back drought in three decades also complicates government spending calculations as Prime Minister Narendra Modi tries to prune a subsidy regime that has long propped up the rural economy, and he can ill afford to alienate rural voters after a bruising weekend electoral defeat in Bihar. India's overall retail inflation eased to 4.41 percent in September, helped by falling commodity prices, but rural inflation was at 5.05 percent, mostly due to food prices.

"The moving finger writes and having writ moves on..."

[h=3]Delhi confidential: BJP’s Writing On The Wall[/h]It may have sidelined one of his closest colleagues and moved away from his statesmanship, but the BJP is now quoting former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee in defeat. Some BJP leaders are said to be surprised at Gajendra Chauhan’s no-show at the march organised by actor Anupam Kher over the weekend. The Narendra Modi government has faced a lot of flak for appointing Chauhan as the head of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) but it has stood by him.

Each day is a little life; every waking and rising a little birth; every fresh morning a little youth;
every going to rest and sleep a little death.

உறங்குவது போலும் சாக்காடு உறங்கி விழிப்பது போலும் பிறப்பு.

Sleep is a mini praLaya called Nithya praLaya in which the entire world dissolves!

Just like every new birth gives the baby fresh energy,

every morning gives us a new and fresh start in life.

But for the gift of sleep, life will be impossible.

And a clear conscience is the softest pillow. :)

[h=3]Prehistoric "Stonehenge" monument in Golan Heights fuels mystery[/h]By Ari Rabinovitch GOLAN HEIGHTS (Reuters) - Driving past it, one of the most mysterious structures in the Middle East is easy to miss. The prehistoric stone monument went unnoticed for centuries in a bare expanse of field on the Golan Heights. After Israel captured the territory from Syria in a 1967 war, archaeologists studying an aerial survey spotted a pattern of stone circles not visible from the ground.

A tax will be a Tax by whichever name you may call it!

[h=3]GST, by another name[/h]The Centre is empowered to impose a Central GST by merging the excise and service tax regimes. The impact of this mimicry would be that a de facto Central GST (hereafter DGST) would be in place, providing tangible preliminary benefits to industry, while the two taxes retain their nomenclature. Four important changes required for the DGST are identified below.
