Dear Narayanan Sir,
You are smart enough to avoid some names!
Celebrating the over due deliverance
unmindful of the expenditure???
Dear Sandhya,
All Gods and Goddesses are created by humans and given different forms as per the fertile imagination!
IMHO, there is ONE supreme power which keeps the world going and that power is to be prayed! ray2:
But I too have ishta Deivam! :thumb:
Dear RR ji,
Come to think of it we Hindus rarely have an image of a Sattvik God/Goddess.
Almost all of our God/Goddesses come with weapons capable of mass destruction!LOL
Gross over generalisation. Please show me a weapon in the hand of Bala Krishna or Saraswathi or Lalita Tripurasundari. Almost every God has a shanta swaroopam with no weapons in their hand.
Go by the dhyana slokas and not by the popular brand of pictures you see in the photos.
Dear Renu,
Most of the Hindu Gods and Goddesses appear with calm face but have lethal weapons.
So they will have to save the good and destroy the evil!
Dear Sir,
I knew someone will ask me about Saraswathi..well she has a Veena in her hand and that can kill anyone with one blow on the head.
Bala Krishna sucked the life out of Putana so never mess with Krishna!
Lalita Tripura Sundari has a noose, sugar cane and goad in her hands..these itself can injure anyone if used with force.
So far the only unarmed Divinity known to us mankind was Lord Buddha.
Dear Sir,
Lalita Tripura Sundari has a noose, sugar cane and goad in her hands..these itself can injure anyone if used with force.
First you talked about *images* of the Gods and Goddesses and now you use over fertile imagination of using VeeNa as an Ayudha.
Well I can be imaginative too. Lord Buddha does not need any weapons for mass destruction, because he can release the poisonous gas you know from where when everyone is in deep meditation.
As regards Lalita Tripura Sundari, I requested to pay attention to the dhyana sloka and not by the popular images. As you know sanskrit quite well, the word used for hands in the dhyana sloka is "pANiBhyAm", meaning only two hands (and not the usual four depicted in pictures) and there is no mention of any weapon in the two hands.
Lord Buddha was the cutest, sweetest darling of all times.
Can anyone look calmer than Him??
There are two factual problems here.
Lord Buddha might not have been actually so cute. There were some persons who had seen him in blood and flesh, unlike the imaginary mythology of many Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
Secondly Lord Buddha himself advocated 'nireeSvara", he would be grovelling in his grave if people thought he was an "ISvara" himself.
