Think or sink!

Some females are indeed control freaks..partly becos they want to project an image of being capable and they imagine they are living in a man's world and feel they have to boss over others to leave an impression.

The fact is we are all living in a woman's world.

The fashion industry is for females..the TV/Film industry is for females...shopping complexes is for females..even some cars are designed for females...cosmetic industry is also for females..houses are designed keeping the female consumer in mind.

Statutory rape laws only protect the female..if one female gets raped..the whole world gets involved but if a male gets beheaded no one cares! The harsh reality of life.

There is always something for females...so why boss over the poor males? Nothing is really made for males anymore!LOL

Dear Renu,

Do you know why everything is made for the females by the females and to the females???

The men enjoy everything related to women more than they enjoy the things made for men.

Do you think women beautify themselves for the sake of other women???
They do everything they do for the sake of the menfolks.

Though the world and everything in it seems to be made for women,
do not forget that most men still believe that women are made for man!

Their love is similar to that of the bhakta who decorates the lamb or calf before offering it in a sacrifice.

But here man - the hunter- offers everything to himself after
apparently providing everything necessary to his game!

P.S.

Once I saw a dirty man offering a packet of Biriyani to a dirtier woman in a bus stand. "Chaappidu kaNNu chaappidu! onakkaga vaangittu vanthen!"

His motive was obvious. He would take care of her hunger if she would take care of his! Nothing comes without a string attached... not even a smelly biriyani packet!

Dear VR ji,

Mostly one has to look good for self first before we can think of anyone else.

I "beautify" myself for my own self image..for example..I never leave the house for shopping without applying a light coat of lipstick and dressing up a little cos who knows who we will bump into while shopping.

Personal image is important for self esteem and also there is no harm looking good for those we love....after all even a wife loves a well groomed husband who looks after himself.

BTW VR ji...that Biryani story ..may be its Lovvu and the guy really loved her and was sad to see her hungry.

You know R , nice to be well groomed.

Women like to get noticed.

Men like to mix with the crowd and not stand out.

They fear getting hurt if they look like tailor dummies.

Dear Renu,
We all beautify ourselves for ourselves and also for others -
as you yourself have included in your reply! :)

Personal image is necessary for personal esteem but there is also a proverb
"Oor aRintha biramaNanukku pooNol etharkku?"

My father used tell us jokingly,
" We don't have to bother much about how we dress up.
In our dwelling place every one knows and so the dress hardly matters.
In a new place no one knows us and so the dress hardly matters."

He himself dressed very simply and respectably in his white coat and pants.
He used to make fun of when we bought too many saris.

He would ask, "Must you have a sari for every day of the month?"

He will be duly surprised that some ladies have a sari for every day of the year
and gold jewelry sets for every day of the month.

Simple living and High thinking may Not always go hand and hand.

Elizabeth Taylor wore real jewels and not imitations for the movie Cleopatra.
The philosophy involved was that ONLY wearing the real thing would give her the right attitude.

I myself have seen bosom friends suddenly acting as perfect strangers once they adorn themselves with rich silk brocade sari and a ton of jewels.

What we wear outside on the body DOES affect what we are inside.

If the man clad in dirty clothes was in Lavvu with the woman who needed a dettol bath, then merely it proves two things!
1. Love is really not only blind but also deaf, dumb and lacks the sense of smell and taste.
2. They were made for each other as in the proverb "Jaadikku Eththa Moodi!"

Very True! Women like to stand out like a sore thumb in any crowd
while men want very little for the way they are dressed up.

Of course there are exceptions like some of the movie stars who make their public appearances an interesting as a fancy dress competition!

The very concept of designers clothes, jewels, handbags and accessories is popular because every woman wants to look and feel unique!

The long awaited new desk top arrived at last.

It is available on demand but we were (as usual) approaching the wrong fellows!

The right fellow brought it and installed it in less than 12 hours!

The improved version needs improved keyboard and a new mouse.

So more e waste created though they are in perfect working condition.

By making components of a standard size so much of e waste can be eliminated.

Just think of the junk created by the mobile chargers.

The imagination has no limit while designing them.

They are all designer made and stand unique.

In the long run our planet will be filled with

buried wires and metals practically indestructible!!! :(

So much happened in my absence for a few days! :ranger:

Whenever someone comes to meet us without any prior notice, the first Q they ask me is whether I am going out!

Reason: I dress up nicely every day, whether I have music classes or not and usually most of the Sing. Chennai mAmis

wear a cotton chungidi (wrinkled) saree and appear pAvam, even though they have the dazzling diamonds on them!! ;)

Dear RR ji,

In December 2015 I gave away always 70% of my clothes cos I did not really get the time to wear them!

Some of them very practically new..I gave away lots of dresses, tops, salwar kameez and also sarees that I had not even worn becos instead of the clothes lying down in my cupboard its better someone else uses it.

Now my wardrobe is lighter...feels better for now.

Actually being well dressed can help when we need to distract the crowd.

I remember I once had to speak on Diabetes and Hypertension to a crowd and I am not a good public speaker cos I have severe fright when I speak and crowds make me stammer slightly ...so I thought to distract the crowd from my inability to speak well..I dressed to kill and managed to distract the crowd cos after I spoke many were more interested on how I keep trim and look good!LOL

But I find it weird..I have fear for public speaking but no fear to sing and dance on stage!

When I was in school I had danced solo on stage many times and also sung solo.

I can also sing bhajans totally solo..some songs need full solo singing and I can manage even Filmi Bhajan songs fully solo at bhajan centres....it only when it comes to speaking I am scared!

I guess when we sing/dance...we lose ourselves so the fear goes off.

Dear Renu,

I have no stage fear in talking/singing/ dancing/playing veena.

But I had one draw back.

Iwouldtalktoofast tobefollowedfully bylaypeople.

AND I had to speak in the rural areas where we conducted camps through Lioness club.

While talking iTelugu or Hindi or English I used to be super fast- a machine gun like my dear mother.

I even tried reading out loudly and slowly spacing the words.

Then came a big help in an unexpected way.

There was a workshop in Public speaking and I met all the school teachers of my sons there.

Who would have thought they too needed training and tips in public speaking?

It was a one day's workshop.

We were asked to make small speeches on any topic, one at a time from the podium.

It was like a miracle. By the evening every one us have become confident public speakers.

The secret of successful speaking lies in these factors.

1. The ability to remain cool while everybody's eyes riveted on you

2. The ability to think clearly while standing on your feet.

(We all know how well we can speak when seated comfortably!)

3. The eye contact with the audience and responding to their visible responses.

These three tips never fail.

When there is no limit lime and when you know many small funny stories / incidents

you become a much sought after public speaker.

I met My husband's cousin's daughter living in Chennai for the first time in a wedding.

She was so much impressed with me that she said ,

"I wish you lived in Chennai. I will make you the chief guest of every program I organize!'

Become the Aasthaana chief guest??? So it is good that I don't live in Chennai! Right dear?

I found out a truth which I must have guessed long ago.
R1 follows R2 or the other way. Does it really matter? :)
Then K follows the R(s)
A nice team work! :clap2:

Ready to sevai is brought to us by a man on a TVS 50 every morning-
fresh from the factory so to say "hot hot!"

He charges 2 Rs extra, more than the cost at the shop 2 K.m away.

I would be happy to pay +2 Rs and get it hot and fresh at 7 A.M
rather than go to the shop at 11 A.m and pay 2 Rs less.

Who knows the stock might get over by the time I go there.

We must value the services rendered by the human being a meager charge of 2 Rs - spending his
time, talent, energy and petrol in going round from area to area everyday to make a honest living.

Bargaining gives immense satisfaction to some people.

It may a few rupees or praise but it matters so much for them.

Some people go shopping ONLY for the joy of bargaining.

I never drive a hard bargain with people who struggle to live a honest life.

Ten or twenty Rs may not matter to us much but it might matter to them so much!

The people who play hard-to-get, get paid more than their dues.

The simple people who are honest to the core are cheated/ slighted! :(

Online shopping is not favoured by many women since they lose the bargaining satisfaction which they relish.

They like to bargain in person not liking fixed discounts directly offered.

what is shopping without bargaining?

A shop keeper told me that he deliberately adds a bargaining margin to give women the satisfaction of price reduction by bargaining.lol

Dear VR ji,

Thaipusam is a very major event here in Batu Caves Malaysia and its also a state holiday here for several states in Msia.

But off late some rumours have been circulating that there is a risk of a terrorist attack for the up coming Thaipusam ..the Police and Army have beefed up security at Batu Caves and have declared the area save and urged public not to worry...the place is filled with Army personnel and Police personnel.

Actually the fear of a potential attacks still lurks at least in my mind so I have decided not to go for the event this year.

But at the same time I can't help thinking...does one have fear becos of lack of faith?

Today when I was buying newspaper the Tamil old lady selling it asked me in Tamil if I am going to Batu Caves on Sunday..She said she was going cos her grandkids are carrying Paal Kudam.

I told her..I might not go and have not really decided...frankly I did not know what to say.

Then a thought came to me that she had no fear in her eyes but I had fear in my mind.

I am still not planning to go but it makes me wonder..."others leave everything to God and are devoted and confident that nothing can happen...but I feel that anything can happen anywhere at anytime and God is a witness and He does not get involved in collective Karmic situations"

Is my thinking practical or a lack of faith?

Terrorists or not, climbing up the steps there in Batu caves calls for a lot of faith in God.

Do you know how many steps one has to climb there to reach the top?.

I went all the way there but I got put off by the climb uphill.

One knows it is thai pusam if only someone sees tamil channels or someone informs from abroad.

In cold wave with temp touching 6 degrees celsius and an unexpected power cut lasting two hours and more early morning in delhi, one does not feel religeous.

I pity the children who have to go to school in such weather.

Sensibly Govt primary schools have declared holiday for three days.

All foggy even at 9am . Trains and planes cancelled or delayed add to the mess.

In addition delhi has declared car free day in certain parts of delhi.

What a day?

It is common sense to ADD 50% IN THE PRICE BEFORE OFFERING 10% DISCOUNT.

I bet bargaining satisfies both the seller and the buyer equally since

each of them get an opportunity to IMAGINE that they outsmarted the other!

Have you heard of this incident.

A lady from T.N wanted to buy some wollen stuff in Kashmir.

The shop walah offered it for pachchees rupaye (Rs 25/-)

Not to be outsmarted by her lack of knowledge of the local language

the lady insisted that she would pay only Pachchaas ... nothing more nor less!

She is wondering to this day the inexplicable look in the face of the shopwalah

wondering whether he was too shocked by the had bargain she struck with him!

I myself do not like to bargain in any shop.

I will look into the eyes of the shopkeeper and tell him

to give the minimum price he is wiling to sell it to me.

More often than not the fellow will spill the right price

saving us the time and energy spent in haggling!

In an extreme case when I visited a Pearl shop in an exhibition

- after spending almost all the cash I had with me-

the shop fellow was wiling to take whatever was left in my purse in exchange for

the string of the largest and most exquisite oblong pearls now in my possession.

I still can't believe why he gave it to me a mere 200 Rs while a

five row maalaa (may be equal to 6 lengths of it) costs Rs 3500!

Was it because I spoke in chaste Telugu (unheard of in CBE)

or did I resemble someone he knew/liked/ admired/

or is it because I argued with him saying that i will not take the pearls

since I do not want HIM to lose money in the sale or the deal.

The Vinayakar got the 5 row oblong pearl mama and the presenter was from A.P.

I found out the price from him.

The kutty Murugan by the side of the Gam Gambeera Vinayaka often gets neglected.

So I suggested that a pearl maala for HIM must be the next purchase made by the liberal devotee.

Sure enough now Murugan has his own 5 rows pearl maalaa.

Everybody is under the impression that the pearls are fake.

I did not let out the info about the pearls being genuine

fearing that they may disappear sooner than the news spreads.

All the colony children play in the temple all evening

and these two idols are within the reach everyone going to the temple!

Dear Renu,
It is said that Abhayam is the product of complete faith in God.
Also Abahyam can be a product of ignorance in my opinion.
We can't be afraid of what we don't know!
One can never be too careful
After all God can be worshiped from anywhere, anytime, by anyone.
I learned this after falling terribly sick in the first day of the month Thai
after the Maarghazi month's ordeal was over.
It is not just mrs. R.R who wondered why it is necessary
to get up at the wee hours in the coldest month of the year.
Every one has been asking me the same question for the past seven days.
We had planned a 5 days' trip to the City of water holes and had to cancel it!
I believe that God will suffer to see his true devotees suffer.
Sometimes it is good to listen to words of wisdom without feeling guilty or doubting oneself.

ESHWAR.

A man learns from his Guru that all the things are forms of God. He is very happy that he as well as all the others are forms of Gods or Eshwars.

While returning home, he comes across an angry elephant. The mahout warns him to keep away but the man does not listen.

He tells to himself, “I am an Eshwar and the elephant is another Eshwar. Why would one Eshwar harm another Eshwar?”

Foolishly he goes near the elephant, ignoring the warnings of the mahout. He is lifted, swirled round and thrown away by the angry elephant.

He escapes with many injuries and is very angry. His Guru tells him that even though he and the elephant were both Eshwars, so was the mahout to told him to keep away from the elephant!

We should not take the words at their face value, but should realize the real message being conveyed.
