My New Year resolution is to help keep the house clean...I was just wondering the cupboard where we place old newspapers is bursting at the seam & have not been disposed for past 3 months...There are other Kandan mundan in house that needs to be disposed

Dear Sir,

Here we have people buying old newspaper from us for recycling.

So old newspaper are sold off to these guys every 2 weeks.

Dear TBS Sir,

Without BB, how can our forum exist?

It will be like 'thayir chAdham' without 'ooRugAi'.

Earlier I used to cut articles from newspapers and store them..Not sure how many..But with articles available on the click of button started to wonder why we should store these

Pranams,

Just would like to share my new year resolution.

We have a small garden around our house. Every day morning, when I get up, the first thing I used to do is to go out to the garden and look at the plants. It is a place of delight for me especially, early in the morning. This green garden has some beautiful flowering plants with different colours. There will be competition between Pavazha Mallai and NithyaMallai as both are in full boom generating more fragrance. I never fail to experience this lovely thing every day morning.

Off late, I am unable to pay more attention to this small garden like pruning, cleaning, regular watering, using fertilizers, pesticides, etc. My inability to attend to this particular work has resulted in my once-healthy garden giving a dull look now.

In order to pay more attention from tomorrow onwards, I have decided to get up an hour early, so that, I have an extra hour which I can very well spare for my garden to make it lovely again.

And BTW may I know what is your New Year resolution, if any?

Regards

Hi VB
Your new year resolution of getting early with a view to attend your personal gardening work at home would keep you in good stead in all respects. Best wishes to fulfill your ambition.
What my new year resolution would be to make my mind to attend the office atleast 11.30 am everyday. Why this urge comes even after retirement. I don't know. One among the resolutions would be to keep fit myself with a view to get rid of the medicines (several tablets) that I consume on account of my health requirement. Though I am on my daily walking exercise I don't get possible flexibility in my physique. For every shortcoming of mine, I felt, I don't have concentration to control my mind due to certain things which are beyond my control. I feel time alone will get me some sort resolution/peace. Hoping and awaiting for that fortune.

Dear RR ji,

I have a doubt here.

Is it sAdam or chAdam?

so how will you pronounce sArayam? chArayam??

Dear Renu,

Those who have the Kerala accent will say chAdham. Those rooted in TN will say sAdham!

My ancestors are Tamils who lived in Kerala. Some call us KLBs!
:)

Sir,

Thanks for the Best wishes.

As for your resolution,I can only say that instead of waiting for the fortune, try to enjoy the present. Keep active and cheerful. Whenever time permits try to meet your old friends and well wishers. God has blessed each one us with lot of good things. You are busy even after retirement which itself is a great blessing.

As for taking medicines, I can only wish that let this
‘2014’ be a ‘Medicine free’ year for you.

With regards

Mam,

Following strictly with one or two days exception.

The existing garden with mostly crotons and ornamental plants were all removed and a lawn of Korean grass with areca palms on the borders is getting ready.

Regards.

The Title of this thread is 'What is your New Year Resolution please?'. Which New Year please? Indian or Gregorian? Am I obliged to honor the Gregorian New Year excepting to refer to dates? Could someone enlighten me on Indian New Year so that I could make a resolution and share with others, Please? I trust being an Indian and being in India, Indian New Year is relevant?

Good to know that there is some one who trust that being an Indian, celebrating Indian New Year is more relevant.

BTW, what is the Daily Sheet calendar you use? Though there is Indian New Year, I am yet to come across a calendar starting with Indian New Year in India. Why?

Do your Diary start with Indian New year?

IMHO we were ruled by the British for more than 200 years and hence that could be the influence for this celebration.

While we use most of their discovieries and innovations, why not celebrate New Year too?

Oh! Normally, I do not take any resolutions. But, this year I decided to 'select' kutties as my students!

I had very tough time teaching a kid, for the past few months.
Since Renu wants feed back! :)

I 'selected' one more student this month.

And requested the 'tough-time-kid' to join after two years!

There are several new year starts and calendars / panchangams to choose from - Telugu ugadi parsee jain Indian government's - so why this question. What is followed in your jati and by your parents?

Dear RR ji,

I have become addicted to my New Year resolutions...not missed anything I planned.
My husband is asking me "how on earth can you follow everything you plan?"

I think overall females follow rules better than males..males tend to procrastinate.
