voted early in the morning today in delhi . the turnout was more than expected. likely to be heavy polling in delhi in spite of it being a hot day.
of course east delhi has a lot of poor voters and is a AAP stronghold. the bjp man mahesh giri is an ex sri sri ravishankar art of living man. congress has sandeep dikshit.contesting . AAP has rajmohan gandhi a half TB and grandson of M K Gandhi

Went to vote in the morning at Gurgaon! The urban response was lacklustre! Very sparse crowd in the polling station! Cast my vote in 10 minutes! Not sure whether the so called Modi phenomenon is making an impact or not!

A very crisp and rivetting campaign! Succinctly shares the concern areas of women and asks women to vote for the right candidate!

'The Power of 49': An initiative to boost women voter percentage

CNN IBN and IBN 7 join hands with the Tata Group and their latest 'Jaago Re' campaign aiming to put woman voters on the political centre stage. Tata tea has kicked off the campaign with a new video to have women, 49 per cent of the Indian voting population register to vote and vote on gender issues.

Dr Mukund Rajan, Member Group Executive Council and Brand Custodian, Tata Sons said at the campaign's launch, "This was a timely effort. We wanted to awaken the women to the power of 49. We have the backing of the Election Commission as well."

The campaign, which is being run online on Jaagore.com and along with a special partnership with Network18 and Colors channel, is aiming high with a target to reach out to about 100 million women nationwide.

"Talks on achieving 100 mn informed women voters," said Sanjiv Sarin, Regional President, S Asia, Tata Global Beverages.
CNN-IBN will unveil 'The Power of 49' over the next few weeks aiming not just to inspire women to vote, but to have their united voice heard as they weigh in on the top gender issues that must be included in every political party's manifestos through its 'Push the Pin' campaign.

We can't make a radical change unless otherwise population is well educated, unselfish and no unemployment or price rise..these are all possible only in less populated , high gdp countries only

Surprise, surprise - TV channels are keeping low and silent on this juicy news. I think barka or ghosh interviewed her last month. Obviously the mature lady did not implicate modi.

Voters would not be perturbed by NaMo'S marital status..That he has declared it now in his sworn affidavit shows that he does not want to conceal anything..Understand he got married as a child but as he got attracted to RSS the marriage was not consummated...A talking point for the opposition!

The ability to connect comes from getting to know and understanding the value of people. Jim Collins, author of Good to Great, observes, “Those who build great companies understand that the ultimate throttle on growth for any great company is not markets, or technology, or competition, or products. It is the one thing above all others – the ability to get and keep enough of the right people.” You do that by connecting.
It is a lifelong skill that can always be improved, but you can start by checking yourself and account for how you’re doing in the following areas:

  1. Focusing on others and finding common ground through listening
  2. Spending energy during your day at connecting and improving at it
  3. Making your communication simple
  4. Capturing people’s interest, inspiring them, showing appreciation, and
  5. Being authentic.
These are things that any leader can learn to do.Learning how to connect in one-on-one situations, in group-settings, and with an audience will result in an increase of positive interaction with others and leave you feeling like you had left your meeting, actually being heard and that the team is on point with mutual concern. This has been evident in heavy IT related projects that I have observed where, quite often project managers can feel like the IT crew is speaking in another language when going through the Specs, PCR’s, UAT’s, and other scheduled release items. It’s easy to feel like they are looking to do things at their own speed, in their own way, and do not understand the big picture. Are they really failing to see the importance of your schedule and completing on time? Or have you failed to connect? If you cannot connect with them and help them understand how important they are to you and to the success of the project – you’re in trouble! The time and energy invested at the beginning of the project to break through and overcome things such as language barriers will always be worth it during times of crisis or when the going gets tough.
When you see project leaders let go in the middle of a large-scale project, it’s usually done for one reason; the leader has lost buy-in of the group. No longer is anyone on the team willing to stand up for them, continue to work extra hours for them, or come to their defense and endorse that they are still indeed the right person for the job. A recent example of this happened in Toronto this year. The Organizing Committee for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games dismissed CEO, Ian troop for what they cited, “Leadership Issues”. This means one thing. He lost buy-in. He could no longer communicate and drive the committee and team forward to complete the plan. He failed to connect and it cost him his job and the program an additional $534,800 in severance to let him go.
Don’t wait until it’s too late, start practicing your connecting skills today, and begin to build those trustworthy relationships that will produce successful team – delivered projects on time, on budget, and with enthusiasm from the bottom up. Every piece of the puzzle is just as important as another and needed in order to complete it – so treat people with upmost respect and it will come back to you and serve as the energy to fuel your project success.

that was an excellent post.
even in day to day life ,connecting with people can be a great asset.simple listening skills and bonding with aspirations of people one comes across can lead to sometimes lifelong friendships.
management is only relating to people and effectively communicating with them to do a task in a persuasive way. one must also learn the art of giving first in a relationship without expectation of return. sooner or later the person will respond
I like the line-management is about persuading people to do some things they may not want to do. how true.I am a firm believer in bonding with all. I have lot of feelings for the underdog and a lot of worthless lost causes which I support with possibilities of little or no returns. My hope is one day these people will remember me for what I did and help others placed in bad situations with no hopes of redemption.
today I voted for a party which caters to the poor . they if elected may not fulfill the promises . atleast they are holding out a hope for the poor and uncared for.that is enough for me.

why give more importance to politics?
r.vaithehi:bowl:
IMHO there is no need for politics for the middle class.they are not much dependent on the govt . as private players fulfill their needs for a price. middle class interest may perhaps be security and law and order. It is the poor who require politics and govt to serve their day to day needs, so let the poor vote for whomsoever they want and let us think of better things.
some TV channels are talking of power of 49 percent ladies who are voters.they would like the ladies to vote for candidates who support women issues. ladies can take acall on that and decide. For middle class men, it would be a good idea to be a dropout and enjoy better things. only all TV channels show only political news and i find it difficult to turn it on.luckily election indelhi is over and we can resume our normal life.

There is an interesting comment about Tamilnadu Elections in the online edition(10th April2014)of "The HINDU"
under the caption: Tamilnadu Polls: Eclipses and Predictions.

Earn freebies after casting your vote..In NCR at many places there were discounts galore in case you have shown your index finger with the indelible ink smear..I was thrilled to get a 30% discount after a haircut yesterday..Wow! That's a good way to entice voters to vote!..Some food chains had also announced that....Even certain petrol pumps were offering a Rs 0.50 discount per litre of fuel

Narendra Modi, the Hindu nationalist who is front-runner to become India's next prime minister, has publicly stated for the first time that he is married.

Modi has campaigned as the standard bearer of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which polls show will win the biggest chunk of parliamentary seats in the five-week election that started on Monday, but fall short of a majority. Yet the chief minister of the western state of Gujarat is a solitary figure who has little contact with his family and entered politics through a grassroots Hindu organization that prizes celibacy. He rarely gives interviews and little is known about his private life.

Critics say the episode exposes his poor attitude to women.

If he can run away from one commitment, dies it mean he can do the same to other commitments?

I dont know much about Modi.. but many of these articles of this kind are baseless. No one knows what happened in his personal life except what he shared. The results he achieved in Gujarat are dramatic. Compared to many bums of the past he can be given a shot recognizing he may not be perfect but perhaps the best among the choices offered

you never know the indian voter . women may be hurt by the sentiment that he hid the facts about his marriage in his earlier declarations to EC. I believe ,he had a child marriage and never supported his wife who made a living as a school teacher living in a 1 room brick house with no toilet on a paltry salary. when she wanted a transfer of her job to her village ,the modi govt . did not accede to her request.she says even after this she will pray for modis success by going on a chardham yatra without chappal and not have rice during this period.
We need to salute the indian women more than modi.

1. Modi's marriage was widely discussed in 2006 during gujarat elections; even a book with interviews of his wife was published. The revelation or indecent gossip did not deter modi voters and his reelections.
2. His family and the woman's family members have given true and fair versions, but conveniently ignored by the media and resident modi baiters.
3. Even his current political enemy shankarsingh vaghela who was with him in rss, has said that modi never led a married life and dismissed his own party's tantrums.
4. His wife, a staunch religious hindu woman with immense respect for traditions did not want to annul the marriage, and chose to stay away from his path. But she was following his growth, prayed for him, fasted for him, did yatras and pilgrimages for his success. Both her and modi's families have accepted the situation.
5. How can modi support her when he was with rss as a volunteer and pracharak without steady earnings.
6. Anyway this slandering too will misfire for the media and congress as the common men and women folk from rural areas have developed a new admiration for modi and his wife; some villagers have even started viewing him as an avatar - as there are many great souls who renounced married life - from buddha to ramanuja to raghavendra - every community has such legends - sacrificing personal life for service to community and society. This is the response for tv journalists when they interact with locals and villagers (not in the tv studio). They who respect hindu dharma will not hold it against modi.

Since lot of published material is now available on her simplicity, devotion and life, thsoe interested for getting as fair opinion, can search and find out.
