Dear Ravi,

You are very lucky to have seen many Samaritan husbands helping with domestic work! In my circle of relatives,

I have seen only two husbands who used to cut veg. for the next day's menu, since the wives had office jobs to do!

There is always the discrimination of 'male' and 'female' work in the tambram families that I have come across so far.

One of my friends confided in me that she hates her husband entering the kitchen under the pretext of making some new

dish! The mess he makes in the kitchen makes her work more than the time he takes to prepare that dish! Howzzzzzzzzat?? ;)

Dear Renu and Ravi,

I got an idea. Why not ask the husbands living in India, who are members here, to disclose whether they help in domestic work?

May be a thread could be started with 'poll' feature!

I have seen many Samaritans make the wife do all the work in the home front and act like uncrowned kings! :couch2:

Maybe, as a woman, you could not recognize that, behind your back, the Samaritan's wife was a termagant? Of course, you could argue that because he did not help, she became a termagant? There is always the question of which came first? chicken or egg?

Very true Sir!!

With the above observation, I can boast that all the ladies in our family circle are kind to others.
Hence the husbands, though Samaritans outside the house, act like uncrowned kings in the house! :peace:

Yes, yes, yes, to the extent allowed.

All coffee related - decoction, boiling milk and mixing frothy, steaming brew.

All gadget related - mixer/blender, microwave, coffee maker, etc. etc. etc.

Full list if a separate thread sees light.

Dear RR ji,

Yes! We should start a thread where members can tell what work they do at home!

Lets see who does what!

Dear RR ji,

We have an unwritten rule at home that only 1 person will be in the kitchen at one time.

Cos its not easy for 2 people to be in the kitchen especially if the husband is 6 feet tall and well built and takes up space for me to move about!

Come on Renu,

You are talking of a "well built" husband entering the kitchen while the wife is there and you also want to know what the husbands do in the kitchen?:tape2::bump: LOL

May be Grantham, Slokam, Mantram are clouding the mind from grasping the Rahasyam behind entering the kitchen and possible silmisham happening in the kitchen. LOL!!

LOL!

What I meant is that there is less space for 2 people to be in the kitchen at the same time..its not easy 2 people using the stove to cook etc.

Well anyway you gave me an idea now about other stuff that can be 'cooked' in the kitchen!LOL

Most of the ladies do not want any help for day-to day cooking from their husbands...Even if you take care of just one activity say cutting vegetables or making the early morning coffee they will be delighted

But when support is required as when they are sick, they would like the husband's to help them out in all the house hold activities be it cooking or folding clothes after drying or any other daily chore..If they do not get help then you will be the butt of their curse..So best thing would be to take care of them, tenderly nurture them to health; in case you can take the day off from office, it will be just great!

In any case we have the authority of the Bhagavadgita itself to assert that one who marries, never falls into any bad condition :

पार्थ नैवेह नामुत्र विनाशस्तस्य विद्यते।
न हि कल्याणकृत्कश्चिद्दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति॥
६-४०॥

Pārtha naiveha nāmutra vināśastasya vidyate|
Na hi kalyāṇakṛtkaściddurgatiṁ tāta gacchati||6-40||

Oh son of Pṛthu!, neither here -in this world- nor in the other world there is destruction or loss for him, since nobody who is kalyāṇa-kṛt goes a bad way -viz. attains a bad state or condition-, my son.

Since Krishna talks about males only (tasya) and not about females, I think the young men should take every possible step to get married AEAP in their life, since longevity is unknown.

;)

Talking about Girls/Women and their attitude,

It is seen that, over half of the novels sold in America (measured in units sold, not dollars) are sold by a single publisher — Harlequin Books of Toronto, Canada—and all of them are a variation on this single theme: Love wins out.

The we have the Mills and Boons books which have been the favorite for generation. My mother in law was addicted to them. My wife also.

The continuing popularity of Mills and Boons Books and Harlequin romances show that the attitude has not changed.

But then the profile of the heroine has undergone a dramatic change from old M & B to the latest M & B / Harlequin romances. And the way Love is depicted.

Good point about Mills and Boon and Harlequin romances. But I have a question. If love always wins out, what is the point of reading so many versions of it?

I think that is because reality is different, so people like to escape to a fantasy world. After all, who has really seen a "well-built", bare-chested, man riding a white stallion come to the rescue of a real-life damsel in distress?

Dear TBS Garu,

Kitchen is for cooking only!

If one sees cooking shows like Master Chef etc..one really gets scared to eat outside at restaurants or hotels cos the chefs go through so much stress to prepare meals etc..I really would not want to eat meals prepared under so much stress and pressure.

So you see Kitchen is only for preparing food and not having any other thoughts..kitchen is like a prayer room cos food should be prepared under calm and good thoughts and not while gunning it on the kitchen table!LOL

Dear Renu,
You guys are able to bring any thread to near 'A' rating! :ranger:

Dear RR ji,

When I wrote the post about not enough room for 2 people to be in the kitchen at the same time..I did not realize that what I wrote left some room for imagination which was well taken up by Haridas and TBS!

Anyway since the post was about kitchen etc..I guess some wanted spicy masala.

Even Ravi sounded happy in replying the post of Haridas....so somehow "A" ratings makes everyone happy!LOL

Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu

Dear Renu,

Though my kitchen is 12' X 10' and admit even three persons, it is only my sAmrAjyam! :thumb:

And so is my Swami cum class room which is of the same size!

Dear RR ji,

Swami?? You mean Prayer room? Cos I remember you saying before you use the prayer room as your singing classroom too.

For a moment I was wondering who is Swami?? That too 12' x 10' !LOL
