Dear VR Ji and Dr Narayani,

I saw what madam VR wrote last night and I knew she was right about femur being the strongest bone.

Dr Narayani was also right about enamel being the strongest substance in the body.

But you both are going to make Lord Narasimha really angry!!LOL

The worlds hardest natural occurring substance is a Diamond(Now there is a man made substance that is harder than diamonds but we are talking about natural stuff here)

So the world's hardest subtance that ever adorned a body is...

Om Vajranakhaya vidmahe
Tiksnadamstraya dhimahi
Tanno Narasimhah pracodayat

May we realise Narasimha, the man-lion god, with his diamond nails that pierce the veil of ignorance. Let us meditate on that sharp-toothed one that destroys the demon of darkness. May that Lord Narasimha illumine us.
How can we forget the diamond hard nails of Lord Narasimha?? he he he..

dear Dr. C.N,

Any topic in G.D Section is OPEN for discussion and postings by all members.

I am just a lay (wo)man and I keep posting about things I have read but have never ever studied.

When qualified people like you and Dr. Renu post here, the thread will become more authentic and more valued.

You are most :welcome: to post here and in addition dissect me too! :becky:

Hello VR Mam ,your quicker responding attitude is superb .your work oriented nature i just love it.(more features of your to be admire) yes mam coming to the point ,as you stated if its only the bone its CORRECT. but then still i intend to say that the strongest organ in human body is tooth enamel as tooth enamel ,dentine, bone all has the same composition as hydroxyapatites .I hope that i can participate in this thread.(not like your contribution ,mine could be like Annil in ramayanam)

Scintillating Synchronization of Science and Spirituality!!! :clap2:

# 41. Believe it or not!

The left lung is smaller to make room for the heart.

When the heart is there, we have to compromise a little, right???

Our muscles only work by pulling. They never push.

But using the same muscles we can push and pull and even hit! :boxing:

Isn't it wonderful???

The human heart beats approximately 100,000 times a day.

Each Kidney has more than one million tubes, which would measure 64 km

(40 miles) if put end to end.

Wow!! I didn't know this.
BTW now I understand why a Sarva Dharma Bhajan I know has the line below in praise of God.
I guess the composer knew the human heart beats 1 lakh times a day.
So with each heart beat a Salam to the Almighty.

"Salam Salam Lakho Salam"

The liver is five times heavier than the heart.

If you put all the blood vessels in your body end to end, they would stretch

60,000 miles which is more than twice around the earth!

Almost all of us have blood that fits into the A /B /AB /O blood group.

However there are few individuals world wide who are outside of this group.

HH is the rarest blood type and O is the most common.

hh is a rare blood group also called Bombay Blood group.

This blood phenotype was first discovered in Bombay,

now known as Mumbai, in India, by Dr. Y.M. Bhende in 1952.

More info on this in a separate post later!

It is present in about 0.0004% (about 4 persons per million) of the human population generally.

In some places such as Mumbai (formerly Bombay) local populations can have occurrences in as much as 0.01% (1 in 10,000) of inhabitants.

I am told a number of Blood Groups viz. Phenotype, Genotype, etc. Some information quotes
as 30 different groups, etc. Which one is normally not available?

Yes. This Bombay blood group is a different one. It was identified in some East Indian families inhabiting Bombay. Recently there has been an appeal to preserve and update this community (having Bombay Blood) to help the needy. Some rough estimate says there are known about 400 people of this group.
