Before reading this, I did not know that drinking water had so many good effects.
Drinking water at the proper time and its health benefits
:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - prevents stroke or heart attack

Point 1 helps to flush-out the intestines so that we can use the flush-out in the toilet.
Point prepares the stomach to receive the food.
Point 3 can be acceptable.
I fail to see the connection in point 4.
Can the doctors in the forum throw up some light in this topic please???

First, an example: I have a senior colleague, still alert, active and kicking, who is about 80 years old. He never drinks any water or coffee/tea either before or after meals. I asked him how much water he drinks in a day, and he says not any where near what the doctors would expect him to drink!

Points 1, 2, 3: Tall claims, no scientific proof, but does not hurt anyone in any way. And falls within the general requirement for minimum water intake to prevent dehydration as well as other internal needs, such as cleansing the kidneys, etc.

Point number 4: water before going to bed? For most people, this would interrupt their sleep at the middle of the night and make them want to go to the bath room. Interrupted sleep, day in and day out, is a counter path to all kinds of health problems, including heart attack.

Having said all that, if it is your cup of tea, and you are comfortable with it, why not? And there is also the so-called placebo effect in operation. So, if you think that taking a glass of water 30 minutes before a meal helps your digestion, why not?

Point 4 as far as I know there is no concrete evidence..but there is no harm drinking water before going to bed to stay hydrated(not too close to be time though)

Often we the oldies are told not to drink any liquid after 6 P.M.
more emphatically if the person also happens to be a diabetic.

A person from Malaysia is as much an athithi in India as one coming from the West!!!

Not really...you know why?

When I went to India is 2006 with my son and mum..my son was asking me what is the meaning of the word Tourist.

I explained to him a Tourist is a person who is visiting a place which he is not from.

The I said just like how we are in India now..so we are Tourist .

My son said "But we are Indians by race and we are in India so this is the country of our origin..why are you saying we are tourist?"

I was thinking my son had a very valid point and I rephrased my words and said "Ok if we were visiting USA then we would be considered tourist"

1) I am clueless as to what is being implied here ?
2) Can you please stick to my old name "naina"?

Sure Naina garu! :)

Certainly I do not wish Dr. Ross to become Dr. Cross as well.

There is NOTHING right or wrong but only thinking makes it so!

That person still will look Indian, unless a label is displayed on the forehead!!!

But people in India are very smart they somehow can guess which country a person is from?
In Bangalore I went to a shop the sales girl asked me right away "maam which country have you come from?"

I asked her "why can't I be an Indian citizen?"

She said "You are a wearing a full length dress with short sleeves..here in India no one wears like this..here its is either a Salwar Kameez,Saree or some jeans and top"

Future dress code in India will be
salwar kameez /chooridhar set for all people old (and out of shape)
jeans and top for the youngsters (and dare to bare girls).
As my little granddaughter says very often in a crescendo
"What will I do???"

But I prefer wearing some long dresses when traveling cos its just one piece and saves luggage space too.
Its nice and feminine and comes with nice designs too.
Just put a shawl over and it will be even suitable for a temple cos it fully covered from head to toe.

But dont you think our TN dress code of earlier days of sarees, and Pavadai Thaavani for girls, and pattu, or Cheeti pavadai for girls were so nice!! the grace of P&D cannot be matched by the churidar and our traditional dress has vanished amidst us, even in the remote corner of any TN village one can see girls of any age in churidar and not in our dress. Schools have shifted thier uniforms to churidar!! need of the time to avoid harassment of girls is what the reason given by them..

I do advice my relatives daughters to try out the P&D , but they run away from it. Sad...

i observed people washing kaduku for removing the mud and unwanted things coming with it. they will sort out it further with inclined wooden planks. dhaniya & vendhayam will be cleaned after drying with the help of moram (மொறத்தில் பொடைக்கறது ).but washing is new information

When I go for prayers I always cover my head too..somehow feel nice to cover my head while praying and I prefer wearing all white for prayers.

That's why my mother always jokes with me she says "you look so covered up while praying in India...if only people know what you wear otherwise when you are in Malaysia..many might get a shock"

You see VR Ji I am not that young anymore(even though I might look young!LOL Ha Ha Ha) but when in temples/puttaparthi etc I like to be covered up.

Once in Puttaparthi it was Eid and one person wished me Eid Mubarak cos he thought I was a muslim.
My father told me 'I told you to wear Pottu and you did not wear and with your head fully covered who won't think you are a muslim?"LOL

dear RR madam !
what you will do when you receive bus ticket issued with conductor's etchil ?or ticket passed on by many passenger from the conductor in rush time ?
the road side vendor sells all contaminated things (by insects and by their own act)
try to avoid snacks served in plate which are washed repeatedly in the same bucket
many will avoid food in hotel and marriage hall if they happened to visit the kitchen there
when we regularly visit hotel ,we will not get affected and only occasional visitor(used to homely meals ) will be affected by hotel food
