....... I read somewhere that the laptop keyboard is also not hygienic ........
Oh, yes! You reminded me!

When our engineer comes to repair our PC, I will clean the keyboard and the mouse, with antiseptic lotion, after he leaves!
And I wash my hands soon after receiving a courier parcel, if I sign with the pen given by that guy! :fear:

I think the basic idea is cleanliness but we should be careful not to hurt others. Sometimes when I am working using a keyboard, i refuse to take chips distributed in office mainly because our hands would be unclean. But this hurts my friends but nowadays they are getting used to it.

In Massachusetts General Hospital (M G H) Boston, many disinfectant lotion dispensers are kept in all the corridors.

Whoever visits the hospital is requested to clean the hands before entering the patient's room. All the staff of M G H,

liberally use the solution often, to keep their hands germ free. I was amazed! :thumb:

There are notices requesting the visitors to used the lotions because germs spread mainly through hands.

I keep it at my clinic too for patients and staff to use.
You know germs spread easily and its better for a doctor to wash hands after seeing each patient.

Normally when I see a patient with conjunctivitis..when the patient leaves I personally disinfect the door handles cos patients rub their eyes and hold the door handles and the next patient who holds the door might have the risk of getting it.

I do not allow my staff to disinfect the door handles cos I am afraid if they are careless they might get conjunctivitis and sick leave for that can go up almost for 5 days.

Hi Dear Friends, this is my first post and i do hope i will contribute positively from Mauritus

Reading is good

I recently read that scientists feel that reading helps the brain's ability to think clearly. It helps expand the attention span in children and imagining an event in a book contributes to activating the brain to react as if a person is really doing it. Since stories have form _ that is a beginning, a middle and an end _ it makes the brain think in a sequence. Reading exercises the whole brain.
Children should begin reading early in their life.
Moreover, in a computer game though you help someone escape you have no feeling as you want to win the game, which is a selfish feeling. Whereas in a book you develop sentimental feeling to a character and later this is translated to reality, that is you tend to be altruistic.
Reading stories also helps children.
The attention span in children is decreasing because they spend much time changing channels on TV. So teachers cannot hold their attention for long and hence teaching them is becoming difficult. In such a scenario, reading will help them acquire focus.
In this time of social networking, where a brief LOL, or a smiley is used for communication, talking of focus and longer reads is asking too much - not only of children but also adults.

In our colony, a lady used to visit each house, to wipe the telephones, first with an anti bacterial solution and then with a scented wipe, once in a week! The charges were nominal. But, now-a-days, she is missing.

…. now-a-days, she is missing…
Hope you didn’t miss any purse, wallet or money kept near the phone.

Reading / narrating increases our power of imagination and visualization.
Viewing KILLS both of these!!! :tsk:

If so, why are pictures added to many of your posts?

May be, you expect most of the readers to have less imagination!! :becky:

My posts contain 'stills' which help people to imagine more correctly
the persons, things and events being spoken about by me.

Full length movies and videos kill our imagination.

I am sure people will appreciate the movie UP all the more
once they see the old and infirm man putting up a real fight
with the evil genius and his team of super dogs who could talk,
with none to help him other than a plump 'busybody' boy!!!

She must have fallen sick inhaling anti bacterial spray and also picked up some bacteria along the way.

BTW what is so hard for the house owners to do that themselves?

Just wipe the phone with a damp cloth with some disinfectant itself should be more than enough.

When it comes to cleaning...I remember one episode which happened in 1982 in Puttaparthi India.
I was 12 years old at that time.

That time Puttaparthi was still a simple small town...no Major Hospitals yet etc.
So there used to be a health centre there run by a lady doctor.

So in the evening my mum and I decided to go there just to help out with anything.
Here we can help clean the place and there was a lady in charge for cleaning also and she welcomed us to help in the cleaning.

She was not a cleaner but a fellow devotee doing some seva in the form of cleaning the place.

So she gave my mum a broom and me a wet cloth to wipe the floor.

I was only 12 years old then and I was not used to wiping the floor with a cloth(cos I used a mop at home).

Ok so I somehow wiped the floor and went on wiping till I realized that I was in a circle right in the middle of the room.
So for me to go out of the room I had to walk on what I just had wiped.

That was it Ok!

The person in charge of cleaning lashed out at me saying "Are you a girl? Don't you know even know how to wipe the floor..what type of wife would you make next time..you are a disgrace to being a girl"

The she asked my mum "how did you bring up a girl that can't even wipe the floor?"

Then my mum said "forgive her..cos she is not used to it"

Then the lady shouted "so what type of daughter in law will your daughter make? good for nothing girls these days"

I was really shocked and told my mum that this is the 1st and the last time I am going to help out any woman.

It was a real shocker Ok!

I India, we always wait for someone else to do things we need to do ourselves. :)

ref #1670.
The tongue-lashing-womn was not doing any seva there
but she was surely making 'sevai'.
She was making the other people go "nonthu noodles aaga"
And Sevai = Indian rice noodles!!! :)

The female volunteers can really lash out but only somehow to a PIO(People of Indian Origin).
They are kind of scared of the white devotees.
