#6. Amethyst

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz used as gemstone. The meaning of the word is ‘not intoxicated’ referring to the belief of the ancient Greeks that the stone protected the wearer from drunkenness.

Ancient Romans and Greeks not only wore this stone but also had their drinking vessels and cups made out of this to avoid getting drunk. Amethyst is the birthstone of February.

Amethyst occurs in primary hues from a light pinkish violet to a deep purple. Amethyst may exhibit one or both secondary hues, red and blue. The ideal grade is called “Deep Siberian” and has a primary purple hue of around 75–80%, with 15–20% blue and red secondary hues.

Green quartz is sometimes incorrectly called green amethyst. Prasiolite , Vermarine and lime citrine are the correct names for green quartz.

Ancient Egyptians employed Amethyst for intaglio engraved gems. Medieval European soldiers wore amethyst amulets as a protection. Their belief was that amethysts heal people and keep them cool-headed during the battles.

In the 19th century, the color of amethyst was attributed to the presence of Manganese. But the color is greatly altered and even gets discharged by heat, it is believed to be from an organic source.

Up until the 18th century, amethyst was included in the most valuable, gemstones along with diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. After the discovery of extensive deposits in locations such as Brazil, it has lost most of its value.

Collectors look for depth of color, possibly with red flashes if cut conventionally. The highest grade amethyst called “Deep Russian” is exceptionally rare and its value depends on the demand of collectors. It is lower than the highest grade sapphires and rubies or “pigeon’s blood” ruby.

dear MK !
what you said is correct .apart from our son and daughter ,our SIL and DIL also daughter and son . but i agree with Renukaji point .to know each other the couple should be settled in separate house and we can be supportive to them .the distance maintained helps to strengthen the bond .it will eliminate the feeling of partiality .even when you have only son or daughter this rule applies.

Now since I am feeling a bit better I can write this.

Yesterday the robber was shouting at me why I do not wear gold!

He was where is your gold?

I told him I do not wear any jewelery besides my sliver aum on a silver chain.

He was asking me where are your bangles and ear rings?
Where is your gold chain?

Are you lying to me?

I said no..I really do not wear gold.

You see the robber was a malay and he knows that Indian woman wear gold bangles, chains, ear rings,Thali and nose studs too.
I guess I was the first Indian he robbed who did not have gold on me.

For a moment I thought that many Indian woman who wear gold in Malaysia have lost their lives when robbed cos even arms have been cut off or necks slashed to take the gold or dragged by the chain on the road too.

And here I had a guy who wanted to kill me cos I was not wearing gold.

So even if you wear its unsafe or even if you don not wear too its unsafe.

Dear Dr.Renukaji,

Thats wonderful to hear from you first thing i log on. Was thinking of the incident and was telling my wife of what happenned to you. She was shocked and both of us prayed for your mental peace. May peace be with you.

Cheers.

I FAIL to understand why these people want their photo taken
when all we can see is a number of voluminous black billows!!!

Dear VR ji,

Since I have had friends from Saudi Arabia in college they told us that woman there might wear all black etc but when they have all woman parties everyone is dressed in real sexy outfits and they show off to each other.

Even in Malaysia Saudi tourist love to shop in Sunway Pyramid Mall here and you can see all of them buying real skimpy clothes and skimpy lingerie.

Even in the amusement park I saw a woman remove her Hijab and had a sexy bikini below and jumped into the pool.

Some of them when they come to Malaysia they really freak out here cos here.
Then when its time to go back they don their hijab and be a good girl and fly home.

In fact when I went to make a police report there was an Indian woman lodging a report that her Thali was snatched from her neck and ear rings just torn off her ears from a person who was on a motorbike.

She was crying that why she wore gold and should have worn her Thali on a yellow string.

I was thinking ..I was threatened cos I did not wear gold and here this lady was robbed cos she wore gold.

Here people keep at least 10 or 20 dollars in cash
to give to the mugger to escape from his thrashings
Dear VR, Maam,
What you have written is like have money and get thrashed!! I happen to see a programme in one FOX Crime channel where in it is clearly shown how the cops in US deal with the law & order problem.A cop explains in detail while on a car with photographer what actually he is doing and how he gets to know of any problem and reaches the spot in a jiffy and deals with the case. Thats amazing and the way they treat the law breaker and the affected one it has to be seen to believed. They read out the law and tell the man before cuffing his hands to his back and thats the first thing they. Hold the hand to the back of the convisted person and hand cuff him. Make him sit inside the police car and then start their investigation.
I found that very interesting that even a robber or mugger has his rights read out and then confirmed that he is arrested for so & so charge. Then once they finalise then the cops goes to the affected party and gives assurancethat the arrested person will be in jail etc and that they will not have any problem from him any more. That assurance does majic and we cam actually see relief in the face of the affected person. I hope in Dr.case also the police in malay will do the same and she is back to normalcy quickly, without fear of the robber stricking in future. cheers

Mr. Naina-Marbus,

I generally try not to pick a fight.
But your statement is objectionable on two counts.
You are telling the women folks as to what they should do.
Secondly comparing or contrasting a person of other religion what they should do.

It should be women's prerogative as to how they should dress.
If in some parts of the world or in some other religion they choose to dress differently again it is their right.
I understand in some intolerant society free will is frowned upon, but that does not give you special powers to enforce your morality.

I do not think you wanted to be rude, but it does sound rude from where I judge.

Isaiah 6:5: Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

And the Lord is Prasad1!

I suppose all these happen after the person lodges a complaint.
What if he is knocked off first - even for a few minutes???
My younger son had strolled by mistake into an area
famous for muggers, when he was fresh student in USA.
He was held at gun point and demanded for money!!!
What you say may be true in cities like new York.
We have remote areas even in USA.

Switch over to the lovely and enticing crystals and mineral gemstones.
They will match every dress and every color!!!
I am going to write about ~ 135 different crystals in this thread! :)

Now something to shock you and most of us will not wish to believe it!

Are women bisexual by nature???

Courtesy Wikipedia

Bisexuality
is romantic or sexual attraction or behavior toward males and females. The term is especially used in the context of human sexual attraction to denote romantic or sexual feelings toward men and women. It is one of the three main classifications of sexual orientation, along with a heterosexual and a homosexual orientation, all a part of the heterosexual–homosexual continuum. People who have a distinct but not exclusive sexual preference for one sex over the other may identify themselves as bisexual.

Bisexuality has been observed in various human societies and elsewhere in the animal kingdom throughout recorded history. The term bisexuality, however, like the terms hetero- and homosexuality, was coined in the 19th century.

Does this explain why women like to hug and kiss the other women???
Or are they mere physical expressions of love and friendship??? :noidea:

If you had been mugged you will sing a different song I am sure.

That comment is too cryptic, could you please elaborate.

My post was a comment on Mr. Manoharkumars post.

My younger son gave away what little money he had with him and ran for his life.

My elder son says running away will invite more troubles from a trigger happy fellow.

I thank God that nothing untoward happened. :hail:

#7. Ametrine

Ametrine, also known as Trystine or by its trade name as Bolivianite, is a naturally occurring variety of quartz. It is a mixture of Amethyst and Citrine with zones of purple and yellow or orange. Almost all commercially available Ametrine is mined in Bolivia. Brazil and India also have Ametrine deposits.

The different states of oxidation of iron within the crystal make the different colors appear in different zones. A temperature gradient along the crystal during its formation can cause the different states of oxidation. Artificial Ametrine can be created by differential heat treatment given to Amethyst.

Most Ametrine in the low price segment stem from synthetic material. Since 1994 a Russian laboratory has perfected the industrial production of bi-colored quartz crystals which are later irradiated to bring out the typical Ametrine colors. Green-yellow or golden-blue Ametrine does not exist in nature.

Once we found two 'homeless' fellows sitting in the same place holding their placards.

They were both signaling the victory sign meaning that

they wanted two dollars minimum so that they can share one dollar each.

My younger son gave them a 5 dollar bill since he did not have any smaller denomination.

Their eyes came bulging out of their sockets with surprise and shock.

They were blessing us for so much time with so many words.

How they blew the money is known only to them!

I usually keep one dollar bills since they come in handy for giving alms or for tipping.

But my son would not wait till I took out the one dollar bills from my purse.

We do not feel odd when two girls hug or kiss
but when two men do this it is revolting.
WHY??
This is only a study as to why this difference in our interpretation.
I am NOT promoting or criticizing it yet since it is NEWS to me!!!
