My dear Raji,
Young children respond to rhythm and music. You may remember the scene in Baby's day out when the child reaches the veteran's place. When thay all clap and sing, the baby sitting at the center of the group would be swaying keeping the rhythm. I have noticed many children imitate our movement or make their own but they always keep the rhythm perfectly.

raji,

there is a reference to 108 repetitions, and all this happened over 40 years ago, i might be getting forgetful.

another regular incident during ayyappa pooja and bhajan, which we eagerly looked forward to, is someone, getting the swami - the frenzied shaking and dancing. and all the attention of all the mamas and mamis - the latter rushing to hold the guy (usually young and single( and eager to rub viboothi on his head :)

felt it was too risky to carry out this myself. not to forget, probably a belting awaiting me when i went home. :)

Dear Kunjuppu Sir,

Sri Jai SiyaRaam,
I hope you are cracking up ONLY with laughter!!!
Right??? :)

Yes Maam, indeed I was laughing a lot, uncontrollably, even after reaching home.
Kunjuppuji's post put me on rhythm and mind is stuck since yesterday, even this morning I am swaying & cracking up again.

I am sorry, I forgot to thank you for sharing Vittal Das Maharaj's bhajan video. I never miss his bhajans whenever it comes on TTD-SVBC Nada Neerajanam.

You posts are very informative, Thanks Visalakshi Ramaniji !!!

Thanks,
Jai SiyaRaam

My dear Raji,
I saw it just now. I wonder how the audience of the pop music start swaying naturally without instruction /training or prompting!!!

Eventhough Music has no language.. this video gave the impression of just a pop music culture.. The rytham of music did not give me the effect of Bhakthi for me.. ofcourse it is my personal opinion..

I love Lord Hanumanji.
He has worked miracles in my life.
His famous quote is Siyavara raamchandra ki jai.
So I really like your user name very much! :)
Glad to note that you find my posts informative. :pray2:

Bhaktas perform a frenzied dance - very much like saami aadarathu!
So coordinated and synchronized movements may not produce bhakti.
Naan ninaichen.... neenga sollitteenga!!! :)

Those who have these ceremonies like seemandam and valaikaappu
very late in their pregnancy run a real risk.

Suppose somebody repeats the performance witnessed by Smt. Raji Ram,
the baby may jump out for two reasons..

to watch the ummaachi dance

to get away from the scene. :bolt:

Sri Jai siyaraam,
The vedio was posted by very own sister Smt. Raji Ram.
I duly redirect your thanks to her! :)

Thanks Visalakshi Ramaniji for correcting me.

Thanks Raji Ramji for sharing the video of Vittal Das Maharaj's bhajan.

I wonder if you can please find & share the video of "Radhe Radhe Radhe Radhe Radhe Govinda, Vrindavana Chanda" bhajan by Vittal Das Maharaj.
I saw him singing above bhajan in TTD-SVBC-Nada Neerajanam but could not find it in internet (youtube etc.,).
I like this bhajan sung (performed ?) by Vittal Das Maharaj.

I am still stuck on "onnam thirupadi...108 steps X 108 times..." like a broken record, I am almost on the verge of breaking into trance...

I guess you might have heard another popular ayyappa swamy bhajan "digu digu digu naaga, naaganna...divya sundara naaga, naaganna".
We kids used to repeat this song without knowing meaning just to keep ourselves distracted from prolonged poojays (robust dinner awaiting).
bhaamalanta cheri naaganna
baavi neellakellithey naaganna
baavi lo vunnava naaganna
baala naaguvayya naaganna

Thanks,
Jai SiyaRaam

If you listen to this 'Rangammaa' song in the PC / laptop, how can you get Bhakthi?

These bhajans are to be heard in the auditorium, along with many others who enjoy! :grouphug:

Thanks Visalakshi Ramaniji !!!

Dear Sri SiyaRaam,
Thanks for flooding me with songs and quotes on Sree Rama.
Whenever I have to do a hard task which appears to be beyond my strength,
I utter the words jai Bajrangbali and lo and behold I get the strength I need!
I think the power lies dormant in us and the name of Hanuman wakes it up when we require it.
Hanuman himself was made to realize his dormant powers by the great old Jaambavaan. :)

The electrifying effects are because of the huge admiring group, the tempo and pitch of the song which makes one forget oneself!

These people only jump up to dance to the song.

I believe NOW that berigai and POR MURASU could

build up the fighting spirit in the minds of the soldiers.

May be they could cut out all the other thoughts, cares and fears and

brainwash the soldiers to "Kill Kill Kill..."

I was told by one of the ardent rasikAs of Carnatic music that the music could take two different forms

by the way the artist handles it.

1. thalaiyai AttaRa sangeetham

2. iduppai AttaRa sangeetham

How very true. We feel this when we listen to some modern 'fusion' Carnatic songs!! :dizzy:

It is surprising to note how many words sound similar in Tamil and English

Kill ....

Tell....

pour....வார்

war..... போர்

Swami Dayananda Saraswathi call them as

the music which moves the heart and

the music which moves all the limbs!!!
