Dear Ravi,

I have seen a few members who never get tired of arguing and making personal attacks. I thought I can talk to you more freely.

May be, I am wrong?!! Anyway, I learnt a lesson today and shall not to call for peace anymore in forum. :tape:

You are much senior to me and I have great level of respect towards you. You have full liberty to advice me for anything you feel worth and you can well talk to me more freely.


My only point was, your request to me was most unwarranted and absolutely unreasonable. Thats all.


Nothing else.


My post was purely my views and there was nothing derogatory, that can stiff things up more and lead to unrest. It was just a different opinion of mine and like any other members in Forum, I do have my space to register my views in a descent manner


If some members go astray, unbearable to read a different view point, though it is civil, the burden would be on them to not create any disharmony.


Just for one or few, expecting all other members to not to come up with contrary views would never be a fair and justifiable desire (though such request can be in good intention).


Hope you could get my points. Please consider me as usually as you do and feel free with me

I understand that I risk getting a curt or brusque reply, but still let me try,

This thread travelled all over the globe, except the intended destination. The captain of the thread Sri Boston Sankara tried to bring an end (see message no. 62). But inspite of that, not so pleasant exchanges took place. Finally the thread appeared to be heading towards its natural oblivion. Please see message no. 75 % 76.

But surprisingly, the thread appears to have its own booster and legs and your last message is numbered 101. As Smt RR had seen various un-intended parties being drawn into the vortex she tried to caution you and I infer the use of smileys etc. was to indicate that her exchanges were in a lighter vein. Her posting as far as I can see did not intend to curtail your freedom or participation in this thread or forum, nor was it any way reflection of your postings to be offensive etc.

As your own exchanges with Smt RR, late in this thread would indicate, this thread has a strange power to cause strain on normal forum relationships. The rest is upto you to take up in any fashion you feel like.

Disclaimer: This posting by me is not on behalf of Smt. RR or joining her as her proxy.

Anyway, this (I hope) would be my past posting in this thread.

I am shocked and very upset after reading some members comments, I first started writing so much in anger, then I thought, what will a person who has never lived in US know about Indians and the Americans living here. I am saddened that you have trashed both in your messages..

If you disagree with something it is okay to express what you feel but not with such hatred, you have poured out such hatefulness...

I have lived in the US, more than I have lived in India.. We have adapted all the good things that this country has to offer and also not given up our own culture.. I don't take offense that someone does not greet me for my religious holiday, when we live in rome you have to be a roman, have you not heard of that expression.. but at the same time, we are happy celebrating it during the morning and later during the evening after work and get together during the weekend..

I think when you are in a public forum, you have to be careful in how you express your opinion, you have no right to insult other cultures like this.. Read more about the good aspects of other cultures, don't dwell on the negative.. I can state so many things that are negative in ours.. I respect and love who I am.. I am first a good human being more than anything.

Let us all be mature and not slander anymore..

My humble views, you are shocked because you dwelled too much on the negative side of the issue.

I dwelled on the positive side of what's been said so far in nut shell " Not to loose one's own cutural values even when the land appears green across the banks. "

I am reminded about the local department in charge of security/law n order taking people under preventive custody whenever some events are announced by a party or a unit. I dont know if there are parallels to this.

Welcome back Ozone after a relatively long hiatus. Your points are valid enough but I am wary of this thread (mudal konal mutrum konal). So I will try to respond to these points in other threads when we exchange views.

Now that my previous post which was intended to be "last" in this thread has become penultimate one, let this be my positively last one in this slippery thread.

Thank you to all those who wrote kind birthday wishes to me. it really means a lot to me. I didn't do much really to celebrate but I did get a chance to see a great friend I hadn't gotten a chance to spend time with in over a year so that was pretty incredible!

it is my personal view....may be im wrong...the thread start with good intentions...sometimes very good information...then the

thread goes different directions....if we feel arguement/debate good for self/others...then again comes personal attacks....

there is tamil proverb....thumb vittu vaalai pidikkarathu....something like that...starting with something ending with

personal venom/attacks....WE ARE REALLY HYPOCRATS.....believe it or not....its real truth....even i can say peculiar

hypocrats...including me.....im also in the same basket......but we wont accept the reality or truth....ANY WAY

I have no comment for it.. But did anytime a foreigner in these US & Canada greeted our Indian people for our festivals.. ?

My son was held up in US because of Sandy during Deepavali day...Eventhough his company people and his foreign colleagues knows..Deepavali is important festival for Indian..no one wished him for it..Not only this I know many foreigners in these countries never wished the Indians for any one of our festivals ..In such case why should we bent backwards and express our best wishes for something which in no way connected with us.. ?

Personal grudge should not be transferred to public forum. Your son may not have friends, among the colleagues he works with.
We have friends who always wishes us, on festive days and birthdays etc.

If the same americans were stranded in India during deepavali, they definitely would have wished your son. Politeness begets politeness.

Thanksgiving is connected with all civilized human beings.
