Indecent and revealing dress worn by young girls might be one of the reasons for they getting harrased or even getting raped in many parts of India.

Here is a small story about Muhammad Ali’s advice as told by one of his daughters.

I am not suggesting that all women should cover up toe to bottom , but surely they can avoid indecent and revealing dress so that they are not a target to rapists.
It is another matter that even if they do not dress indecently, they become a victim of such attack.

Our scriptures compare such hard earned, valuable jewels only to our Atma/Self, that are buried in the dust of avidya/agnyAna.

So, we dig down these temporary sariram (the loads of mine dust/rocks) to get to the bottom. So, the ultimate goal/purushArtham is to realize that diamond, the self.

Digging down is like performing the karmAs(eating right food/learning wise things).

Clearing up of debris (the confusion/tangling in the mind)

Cleared pathway are the merits of such karma (obtaining dharma/knowledge)

Senses/body are our gateway to the world and the self.

Thus, one should use this body, for the Self-Realization, not to lose one self to the unwanted intoxications/tragedies/sufferings/useless-pride/exposure and spend rest of the life in fixing our errors.

Protecting the body to obtain six-pack, beautifying with cosmetics and showing the flesh for pride would do more harm than anything useful/purposeful. But, eating right food, maintaining right health, using them to do our duty to our parents and family, educating ourself, educating the world, society and our progeny, should be the right applications of our body.

cons and see the various possibilities!

There are things that we have no control over, like those who even molest the infants. Can you go about chnaging those weirdos?
Such people can be triggered by the sight of any tempting things/sight.

So, we can atleast try to work for our safety. So, women should plan to come home before sundown, if so be in a safer/protected place, or
among a crowd or with family members or carry some safety things - pen-knife/pepper spray/learn some martial-arts, plus wear
a sweaters/blazers in public.

Comparing things to US or Australia or Europe isnt helping anyone, those are false/unrealistic comparisons. They have laws with iron-fist and
the cops/government are protectors of such laws. They have clear/transparent roads and secure transportation, the visible ID system (license/person ID), the security cameras in all locations, parks' restrooms are locked at sundown. Whereas our India's population is overhelming and controlling them with any laws is nearly impossible. Plus, we dont have the infrastructure, and also lack the dedication of our cops, public are scared of their own safety (they may get framed) - let alone help the victims.

So, the better way is to advise the parents and the their daughters to take proper measures for their own safety. They only know their movements everyday, and outsiders cannot watch them all the time.

So, dont proclaim your women's rights when you guys are not ready to accept the causes for social/ethical/moral decine of the society. Those causes are food, habits, media, illiteracy, moral-education, corruption, inefficiency in social administration etc. Could you change them? Do you have control over the causes or are you contributing to people's education?

Then, why give false security to the women? Teach them Reality!

Billboards showing women semi- naked for marketing of cars or underwear are offending for a lot of women. Whatever a woman chooses to dress and wears and wherever she goes, it should get her RESPECT. A truly liberated woman always dresses decently and modestly.

Sir, unfortunately there are lots of liberated, mentally broadened and mentally grown up women who don't expect RESPECT from guys on terms of guys. They wish to expose or conceal their assets on their own wish. Thus they go on even for a "Bitch Walk" protest, nude protest etc and struggling for their rights.

Unfortunately these girls are turning out to be role models of many women who are getting enlightened what all about femininity is and what are their rights.

If all women were eliminated, would sexual perversion be eliminated? Rape is not just sexual it is also power play. In mens prison or men's dormitory there is sexual rape of boys and men.

Among the amendments proposed is a change in Section 100 of the IPC dealing with right of private defence which extends to causing death. Taking note of the brutality committed in the Delhi gang rape incident, the Committee suggested replacement of Section 375 defining rape by defining specific unnatural acts.
Intentional touching will constitute the offence of sexual assault for which punishment will be a maximum of five years rigorous imprisonment or fine or both.


Use of words, gestures which create an unwelcome threat of sexual nature or advance would invite a maximum punishment of one year imprisonment or fine or both. Committee member Gopal Subramanium said the Juvenile Justice Act has been a total failure and condition of the juvenile homes were pathetic.


"When you read our report you will find we have extracted from the reports of the National Commission for Protection of Children and you will be shocked to see the unimaginable things juveniles have to do there...," he said.


The panel suggested that the Chief Justice of the High Court of every state should device appropriate machinery for administration and supervision of these juvenile homes in consultation with experts in the field.
The Committee also said all marriages in the country -- irrespective of the personal laws under which such marriages are solemnised -- should mandatorily be registered in the presence of a magistrate and the magistrate will ensure that the marriage has been solemnised without any demand for dowry having been made and that the marriage has taken place with the full and free consent of both partners.


The panel suggested medical examination of victims of sexual assault which were prepared on the basis of the best practices advised by global experts in the field of gynaecology and psychology.

To take this further, many unemployed frustrated youth might rape a woman belonging to an affluent class because of jealousy or revenge, not just lust. And the other way too. People of a higher class/caste may do it to a person whom they consider inferior, often due to land disputes.
Calcutta’s DCDD-II (Deputy Commissioner, Detective Department) Ms. Sumanbala Sahoo says, ‘Gangrapes are more common in India (particularly in rural India), and are often motivated by revenge.’



Sahoo also points out that in India there is an added factor loaded against women. As they have a lower status in society than men it makes them more vulnerable to sexual crimes as men view them not only as sex objects but also as non-entities. The problem is compounded by the fact that in India raped women are often rejected by their families. In courts their reputation are attacked if it is revealed that they were raped or molested. This makes them reluctant to complain against their assailant, which in turn encourages rape.

I have lived in all the cities mentioned above and have had the bad luck of being pawed in all the cities. True, my experiences in Delhi (I studied there) were the maximum (movie theatre, shop, roads, buses) but I have also been pawed in the Calcutta metro, in a Ganpati Visarjan (holy procession) on Pune’s Laxmi Road and in a crowded kirana (grocery) store in Bangalore! In Mumbai? Just once at a railway station while waiting for a local. In fact these are the only incidents that I remember. I am not even counting the incidents (if you can call them that) when men tried to touch or brush past in the hope of grabbing a feel. I am not even counting the incidents of the scores of men I have seen exposing themselves at railway stations, bus stations and once even on a hill where I had gone for a walk! And I don’t even wear sleeveless! I am considered a prude when it comes to dress-sense.
The sad truth is that every woman who travels daily by public transport has encountered perverts, and her dress doesn’t matter. Once when I was wearing a saree, a young boy came from behind and grabbed me. He was on a cycle.
