post-marriage Hindu customs
Dear Sis.Umaji: SAIRAM. GOD BLESS U. It is customary for all Hindu Ladies Brahmins inclusive, to follow husband's Gothra and related customs and procedures ONLY. Since interpretations have been changing as per whims and fancies and likes and dislikes, whenever I have any doubt, I always seek clarifications from the Gurus. For me, I write a letter with a self-addressed envelope to Sri Kanchi Mutt and seek the advice of His Holiness and we always get a reply and I follow the same. This is my humble opinion. With Kind Regards.

I'm Uma, iyer vadamal by birth but married to a north indian (he's a kayastha) living in california. I try to perform all the iyer rituals as in my parental home side and teach my daughter the same, though our preference is to teach her values to be a good human being. Good to know about this forum. My native is Mayavaram (near kumbakonam).
My question to all the elders here is,
Since my husband side doesn't belong to iyer community, can I do archanai for my daughter with my parental side gotram?
