this is about Anandashram, wrt query about Anandashram(you might have already got the reply on private net: in case you have'nt....) Anandashram is in Kanhangad, in North Kerala, one hour approx., south of Mangalore. there are two trains to Mangalore from B'lore: one overnight train, to Kannur via Mangalore, dep. around 08:15 pm, arrives Kanhangad rly station around 10:00 am next day (after stopping in Mangalore for about 15 min's from 09:00 to 09:15, i think). the other train is a day train to Mangalore, dep. around 07:30 am, arr. (Mangalore) about 05:30 pm. from Mangalore to Kanhangad take any train towards south (like the Malabar Express at about 06:15 pm), Mangalore to Kanhangad is about one hour. from Kanhangad rly station, Anandashram (papa Ramdas, Ma' KrishnaBai & SachidanandaSwami were the Head Swamiji's/Swamini before the present Swamiji, Muktanandaji), is about 30 rupees by autorikshaw. Usually, you get free accommodation and food during stay in the Ashram. the simplicity and sense of purpose, (Ram naam & AaturaSevanam), you will find striking and very persuasive: almost any time of the year is okay! happy journey into the spiritual realms, regards, rj.

after posting the above on Anandashram, i now have the train #'s for information: 6515 and 6517. in case, bus journey is preferred, direct bus from b'lore to mangalore (via hassan, sakhleshpur, i think) takes about 9 hrs; and, mangl're to k'nhgad is just about one hour. my own last visit to the Ashram was three years ago, when SachidanandaSwamiji was there - rj

Welcome Shri Suresh,

I also worked in Firestone during 1960-65. I see that you have chosen Pandalam though you hail from T. Nadu. Any special reason for coming to our "God's Own Country"? I wish you a very happy retired life there.

suresh,

may i join the masses here in welcoming you to this forum :)

it would gladden my heart to hear more from you. i am quite sure, your long stay in saudi, has given you experiences of a kind, that few of us here have heard of, let alone experienced.

please feel free to open up threads of your whims, and let us partake a few morsels from your plate of knowledge and experience.

மிக்க வந்தனம் :)

Dear Sir,

Even though, I am hailing fromTamilnadu, bitter experience by the politicians which compelled most of our people to move away from our place (Still I have my anchestral house in TN) in search of right job according to our Qualification. And, I found positive climate in kerala especially for a retired person. And I like the nature's beauty in Kerala. That is the reason, I chose to settle in God's Own country.

Thanbk you very much fro your response,
Suresh C.B.

Dear Suresh,

I am sure you will find your stay at Pandalam very nice. People will also treat you as equal and, if you do not have any brahminic superiority complex, you will be respected also. The basic thing is that Keralites do not feel they are lower than someone else; this may look like ego but it is more of self-respect.

Regarding paddyfields and cultivation, the scenario is very different. Unless you are very lucky, you will find it difficult to manage agriculture in this state. Was it your preference or was it a package deal sort of?

Dear Sir,

I experienced nice treatment from the people of Kerala. My elder Daughter got married to a Keralite. And the property which I purchased is very close to my Son-in-law's house. I agree with you that the cultivation in the paddy field is not that much easy especially to find people to work. But, I am planning to plant rubber in my land of more than 65 cents and I am planning to make a vegetable garden which is my favourite hobby. For I myself only have to work hard and I like that. The soil in Kerala is very fertile. And I am very much sure that I can live a pleasant retired life, stay along with my Grand children and look after my garden etc. And, I just want to keep myself busy with hobby and my grand children.

Thanks for your reply,
Suresh C.B.

Namaskarams to all !

In my opinion, we should stop differentiate between Brahmins of various states. That is where we lack. Brahmins means Brahmins, whether from Kashmir or Kanyakumari. Especially when the Brahmin population is in decreasing trend, the only way for survival is ot unite. Even though there are different groups in MUslims, I appreciate that they never see diffirent between the muslims of different states.

So ! you are most welcome to this site and feel free to oepn your suggestions and opinions.

With Warm Welcome and regards,
Suresh C.B.

Dear Karthik,

Welcome to this forum which will soon cahnge its name to Brahminworld or Globalbrahmins. Pl. contribute and feel free to express yourself.

Incidentally, I have the old age quirk of pointing out errors relating to our understanding of our scriptures, slokas, etc. I think the correct name of your Gotra is "naidrupa kASyapa"नैद्रुप काश्यप. Pl. check with the elders in your family and let me know if I am wrong; I am hearing 'Naithurva kashyaba Gothram' for the first time.

Dear Suresh,

What you say and wish is very correct. But that unity is only just starting. In another thread in this forum (inter-brahmin marriages), we have been seriously considering marriage of our boys with girls of other brahmin communities from different states. Since you have long stayed in Maharashtra, perhaps you will be able to help. Pl. go through that thread.

suresh, why do you want only to restrict to brahmins. if you give muslims as an example, should we not include all hindus. has not casteism the biggest curse of hindus today? it has divided us more than even muslims or christians succeeding in dividing us.
