Dear all learned, knowledgeble, enlightened, guiding, helpful patrons of this august forum my namaskarams to all.Though I have participated by enroling, and partaking in the discussions in a limited way recently, I did not comply with the task of introduction. I feel for my benefit I should comply . I am in my late sixties . I hail from a small fertile village very near Tiruchi. Had all the education in and around Trichi. Got employment and retired as a Bank executive. Wound up all from Trichi and settled in Mylapore. Son is a U.S.Citizen and daughter is a PH.D. in computer science. Both are married and well settled. Shuttling between US and India. After retirement did Chartered Accountancy (veetil summa irundha tholaindhen)(CA not fully completed) and is a part of the top management team of a construction company in chennai.Interested in a reformatic outlook of our community and extending a limited helping hand financially for education without noise.I feel proud to be a humble member.

Shri VMMRS,
It was nice reading your intro. Doing CA after retirment is great. Do you miss your village after seeing & living in other places in India and US ?
Regards,
Vansan

Thank you sri.vasan sir, I really miss my village ,the river cauvery and the mann vasanai. For me and my wife life in U S is like a bird in a Golden cage. Though with a lot of pollution and lack of hygenity sondha oore sorga Bhoomi. This I am telling after my sixth trip to US and almost wandering half the US. Bagavath githa and ganga jal no comparisan no substitute.

vmmrs,

welcome to the club. i am very happy to note that you are 'Interested in a reformatic outlook of our community and extending a limited helping hand financially for education without noise'. personally i think noise is good. we may be modest, but by making noise, we can, like the jews, exhort our fellow kith and kin, to open up their purses, hearts and minds. n'est pas?

we could always do with reforms and one more voice inthat direction is most welcome.

re 'Dear all learned, knowledgeble, enlightened, guiding, helpful patrons of this august forum', please do not expect too much and be disappointed. there are pockets of knowledge and guiding lights, but i cheerfully opted out of such stuff, out of sheer appreciation of the banal and the ordinary. :)

maybe i should guide you and name the 'knowledgeble, enlightened, guiding, helpful patrons of this august forum[/COLOR]' ? would that help? it might come as a shock to some :)

I am 55 yrs old. After my father's early demise we struggled hard and had a tough time in getting an education in Madras. I got disgusted and ran away to U.S. which I feel was a big mistake.I am a cardiologist in West Virginia. I am trying to find my identity.I would suggest that one should never try to bring up children in this country. However there was no scope for people like me who do not have adequate resources to the profession that I chose.I have 3 children. I take care of my elderly mother.I am interested in meditation.I am a devotee of Sri Raghavendra swamy.

srinivas,

pretty late in the game to regret your past actions. there must have been very good reasons for you to cross the oceans to land in usa. it appears that you have prospered, and like all fogies, with one eye on the autumn of our lives, turning conservative and traditional.

nothing wrong in that, but hopefully you would not turn reactionary. had you been in chennai would you be the heart surgeon that you are now? everyone should consider themselves gifted to have and bring up children in this world. that is how i feel.

perhaps your job took so much of your time, that you did not spend the needed time and give them the attention at the proper stages of their lives. remember, the plant will grow to a tree, only as much love and care is tended. we cannot expect attention, affection and regard, if we did not shower these things on the children when they were young. what is not received, cannot be understood or reciprocated.

take it easy. there is plenty of time to start afresh...

Am I right if I say that I know you from your various writings in our (mostly I have seen in newspapers centrepages, editorial page centre) media since from many years ago?(even from my college days)

It was actually the "h" in your name which attracted me, and then ,the incisiveness and analytical presentation in the articles. I used to get some insights into our govt response for certain "outside" occurences through your writings , till when I used to be confused why it was so. And some subtle hints on how the pro-action should be.

You are welcome in this forum, and also expect contributions in your own way to this forum and still long for your expert comments on your specialist field as till now outside the forum.

Greetings.
