Hello InquisitiveMind,

Welcome! I am sure you will NOT be disappointed! For a starter, you may start going through various threads which are already there to get a hang of what exactly is happening here, before rushing to start a new thread on something which has been already taken up in some other thread. Please get me right! For heaven's sake, don't think I am discouraging you in any way. I hope you do understand my suggestion in the right perspective, particularly in view of the stated purpose why you are joining this Forum. All the very best!

Hi Every one,

I am M S Swaminathan hailing from Kumbakonam and post my studies moved to Bangalore for employment and settled in Bangalore . I am married to Nagamani, Homemaker and blessed with two kids. Daughter's name is Swathi and son's name is Suraj Subramanian. I am fond of reading vedas and doing pujas during Brahma Muhurtham time besides enjoy listening to Music.

Introducing myself

My name is Subramanian Natarajan. Born at Kumbakonam in 1950, I did my BSc from St Joseph's college, Tiruchirapalli in 1970, followed by MSc( Physics) in 1972 at National College, Tiruchirapalli due to one of my friends getting a job in P&T. I did one year research in Madurai University in Crystallography.
I joined PNB in 1973 as the Management Trainee. Served all my life in Northern India.
I have wonderful friends both men and women from Punjab National Bank which helped me to see various facets of life.
I went to USA in 2000 and have been living there. I got my CPA (like CA) in USA at the age of 57 years indicating tough economic conditions in USA which forces everyone to brace oneself for living.
I am also associated as a volunteer Treasurer in CAPI, a non profit organisation to help poor immigrants from Asia. It is real involvement which gives great satisfaction with an opportunity to seve the poorer sections of life.
I remember having been associated with various funds collection, establishing Housing Members Association in Delhi and going to court to establish our rights as oweners and also to fight government for various measures.
During emergency, I was in UP and faced lot of problems due to fight with politicians.
I am also an active member of Venturez, a web based organisation for middle aged persons. It serves the mental, cultural, spiritual, and all the intellectual requirements of life. We openly discuss everything on the platform.

Brahmins in Tamil Nadu have faced lot of difficulties and have come out successfully. Being the harbinger of great Indian cultural and religious values, I highly value them.

I conclude my discussion with two interviews of mine in my earlier days.

It was for Tamil Nadu Service Commission for the post of Asst Professor in Govt colleges. The only question asked was whether I was a brahmin. I confirmed affirmitively and also wrote in a paper as desired by the committee members. Then I was asked to leave. It showed the level of contempt DMK had for brahmins in 1970s.

The second Interview was for joining Indian Institute of Foreign Trade as a student. The question was whether we could compete with Japan in foreign trade. I told the chairman of the committee that I was ashemed that he could ask above question which indicated lack of confidence on his part. I told them that we would not only compete but would succeed in a big way. I am thankful to the current younger generation which has been fulfilling the dreams of the positive middle aged ones like myself. India was filled with negative thinking persons in those days.
Let us together help the poorer sections of the society which badly needs the drive and attitude of Brahmins all over the world. I humbly offer my services in this regard.

My favourite hero is Mahatma Gandhi.

vidurishi : Let us together help the poorer sections of the society which badly needs the drive and attitude of Brahmins all over the world. I humbly offer my services in this regard.

That is a fine sentiment you are expressing, Shri vidurishi! You are very welcome. I am sure you would enjoy interacting with all sorts of people who make up this Forum,

Namaskaram Venkatasubramanian,

It is really an immense cause/step that you have taken; kudos to the venture that you have taken up your sleeve. Vidhya dhanam is shreshta dhanam than any other dhanam. Cause once the required education is given the person can fend for himself and the family; but whereas if a anna dhaanam is given it takes for only the time being and it may make him lazy and will force (sometime) not to look for any kind of work.

Keep the things going.

P R Subramanian.
