Introductory note

I have joined because I am a Tamil Brahmin.

We have settled outside TamilNadu for over half a century and now we have a feeling of being lost.
We do not belong here and we have no roots over there.
The previous generation has passed away. We ignored the traditions because we thought that the elders would be taking care of that. Now that the elders have gone, the sense of loss is immense. I do suppose that there would be many like me.

Anyway, one of the reasons of joining this discussion form is to get back to my roots.
In the form of music, traditions, customs, dress, prayers, food etc etc
Being from outside, we have learnt to adapt. This does not mean that we reject our basic traditions.
I do look froward to a new thread - The Lost Tamil Brahmin.
Somebody could start it so like-minded members could join in

With the warmest regards to everyone,
Sridar Sangamneswaraier

hi, I am Rangarajan, an Iyengar from Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli Dist, Tamil Nadu. I was brought up in Thane Dist, of Maharashtra. I am also a Bhajanist performing Namasankeertanam.

I am Swami Sampurnananda of Ramakrishna Mission. My Purvashrama name is Muralirajan and I am known to many friends as Murali Maharaj. As a Sannyasin (monk) belongs to all communities I thought I will join this community too. I find you have good classical music and literary features. I am also happy that the policy of the community, online community especially, tallies with the teaching of the Mahabharata, as pointed out by Swami Vivekananda, that it is the ideal of the Vedanta or Sanatana Dharma that all communities should take recourse to noble and higher values and thus become real brahmins. I hope to benefit from your features and contribute when possible.

dear swami,

welcome to the forum. we often get quoted about swami vivekananda in our debates.

it would be of great service to hinduism and our culture, if you could participate, and reiterate vivka's views of reforming our society & the evils of casteism among other things.

Hello to Everybody,
I am a new member to this forum. I am a retired engineer. Wish I will be able to share my experience with you all at times, as well yours. Thanks and look forward for kind interactions.

Dear Mr. Ananth,
On reading your introduction, I feel it is closer to mine. I have retired from IOFS , served in Jabalpur . I & my family live in madras., from 1996. Currently, I am in Florida , U.S & will return to Madras by end of November. If you also live in Madras, we can contact. As for your urge for learning, I can say that, if you attempt to read Divya prabandam, it would be very hard. To make anything by-heart, will not be feasible.I had learnt Sahasranamam right from my 8th year, I am proud of the same.I am not very Orthodox--hence not learnt many things. Being devoted, I do righteous deeds, as far as possible & be useful to others. My wife is a learned Astrologer & families approch for Predictions on every aspect faced by them & her predictios have been found to be succssful to the needy. Therefore we continue . I, assist her, because, we write the predictions in a Note book & give them , to keep as record for future queries/ further studies.
Your venture is really wonderful & I pray for your succeess. If you give your E-Mail i can write & both can be friends .

Lovinly,

A.Srinivasan (rishikesan/ for this forum )
