http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/philosophy-traditions/20853-why-no-navagraha-sri-vishnu-temples-44.html

Vaishanvate considered Navagrahas lesser Gods and as a thumb rule donot have navagrahas in their temple!

The thread was closed because of the heat generated arguing that point!

If Navagrahas are of no significance with or compared to Naryana - then why Tirumala temple is to be closed on April 4 becuse of the alignment of the Navagrahas resulting in Lunar Eclipse - Frightened about Raghu Kethu?!

Tirumala temple to be closed on April 4 - The Hindu

Dear J J Ji,

Almighty in any form will NOT be scared of any of the Grahams! :nono:
But people don't dare going out during the time of eclipse. :fear:

BTW, is Rahu - Ketu swallowing the Moon still believed? :)

The sacred hill temple of Lord Venkateswara will remain closed for over 11 hours on April 4 in connection with lunar eclipse.
EdukoNdalavAdA!

You have to also fast for 11 hours without naivEdhyams!

Temples are closed even when there is death in the vicinity; opened afterwards.

True I had to leave Srivilliputtur without dharshan for this reason

See my posting from a different threat Seems to be an inconveient - looks it in Ignore list!! - no response

Do our culture & value allow this preservation of Bodies?

Do these Agama Permit Preserved Body be Kept with in the wall of Temple? I had a different experiance once in Srivilliputtur . The temple was closed as a dead body was lying in house outside the temple wall and was informed it will be opened only after the body is taken out and cremated!
Sri Ramanuja Acharya body is still preserved in Sriramgam temple!

J J Ji! Saints are not normal humans!

What about Saint Thyagaraja's samAdhi? :)

Temple was built on his sammadhi after his death! But Srirangam was in existance even before Ramanuja was born! The preserved Body is inside the temple which is in existance already Is this allowed by agamas?

RR Ji

You are talking about Saint Thyagaraja’s Samadhi at Thiruvaiyaru.

"Saint Thyagaraja died in 1847. A few days before his death, he had renounced everything and had become a sanyasi. When he passed on,
his mortal remains were buried on the banks of the river Kaveri and a small memorial was built at the spot. His disciples returned to their respective villages and observed his death anniversary at their own homes. The memorial was soon forgotten and it was not until around 1903 that Tyagaraja's last surviving disciples, Umayalpuram Krishna Bhagavatar and Sundara Bhagavatar returned to Tiruvayyaru, identified the place and had it renovated."

His mortal remains were buried and not preserved.

What do u mean by kapala moksham?

Kapala means Head, Moksha is liberation. Liberation from a wheel of succeeding incarnations. Kapala Moksha or Brahma Sayujya happens when the life energy or prana leaves the body through the small crack in the Sahasrara chakra with the opening of the Bramha Ranthra in the crown of the skull. This is what is called salvation. When the Yogi separates himself from the physical body at the time of death, this Brahma Ranthra bursts open and Prana comes out through this opening (Kapala Moksha). They are Jeevan Mukthas. The Yogi who gets such a moksha enjoys the Supreme Bliss, Parama Ananda, super conscious state and the Highest Knowledge.

Dear Alwan Sir,

Thanks for your post on 'kapala mOksha'.

Those who have read the biography of Saint Thyagaraja will know that he became a sanyAsi, towards the end of his life and when

his soul left his mortal remains, his disciples saw a jyOthi coming out from the crown of his skull. Hence he is adored as a Saint. :hail:

Thyagaraja was married. He had chequered personal life before and after marriage, due to his bhkthi to Rama. If he became a sanyasi, what happened to his family?

It seems Muthuswamy Dikshidhar, Shyama Shastri and Thyagaraja lived during the same period, and all the three are being placed on high esteem.

It is possible that by invoking Kapala Moksha, Thiagaraja is made as a Sanyasi and placed above the other two. A Telugu speaking lady donated large sum to popularize Thiagaraja which ultimately becomes Thiagaraja Aradhana.

Telugu speaking people generally show lot of interest to popularize their people, places etc. - Satya Sai Baba and Thirupathi are perfect examples.

We should give equal respect to the other two - at least the Tamil speaking people.

Dear Chandru Sir,

Thyagaraja became a sanyAsi towards the end of his life after his wife's death. His only daughter died in young age. So there are

no descendants of Thyagaraja. Dikshithar and Shyama Sasthri did NOT compose Tamil songs though there are a couple of Tamil

songs by the latter. Even those two song's lyrics will appear like Telugu-ish Tamil.

BTW, if Tamil people support some composer, will they not be those who composed Tamil songs? Just a thought!! :)

This idea of creating an island is great, but how small a boundary do you draw. We all can be individual island, and then we will be lonely.
So can draw circle around humans, Indians (from India and outside(?)), Brahmins, Tamils, my family, and on and on.

Greatness should be appreciated across all boundaries. Of course that is ideal. LOL

Back to Lord Narayana.

Each devotee thinks his God or Goddess is THE Supreme. In a 'Kamalamba Navavaranam' song, the dasAvathArams of

Lord Vishnu are said to be created from the ten finger nails of Devi Kamalamba!

''Karaahnguli Nakhodaya Vishnu Dashaavataare'' is the line appearing in the charaNam of the song.

Meaning: From Her ten fingernails ( kara-anguli-nakho ), She created ( udaya ) the ten ( dasha ) incarnations ( avataare ) of Vishnu.

Important note: This is NOT 'chiNdu mudinjufying'! Please read the FIRST line of this post! :ranger:

Since I am teaching this song, I wanted to share these lines!! :)

I am unable to understand this obsession to preserve the remains of a human being and that too in a temple.

Ramanuja's physical body is preserved even today in a sitting posture in the Sannidhi (Sanctum Sanctorum) dedicated to him on the southwest corner on the fifth round opposite to Sudharshana Alwar Sannidhi, within the Srirangam temple Complex as ordered by Lord Ranganatha himself. The whole world is wonder struck at the feat of preservation of the mummies of Egypt and the body of St. .Xavier in GAO in India and make so much fuss about them. Many SrIvaishNavaas are not aware that here in Srirangam. their holiest place hailed as ' Bhooloka Vaikuntam' ( Heaven on Earth) lies preserved body of Sri Ramanuja .There is no Thirumanjanam for this Idol. Yearly twice it is Thirumanjanam of Pachai Kalpuram and Kumkuma Poo (Saffron),

1. Ramanuja's Thiruvarasu is where it is as permitted by the Agamas pertaining to the Srirangam Temple. those who have doubt may read the relevant Agama and then come here to lecture eloquently. Period.

2. The rule regarding closing of the temple during an eclipse-not only the Tirupati temple but many other temples in Tamilnadu also-has nothing to do with the God being scared of any of the Navagriha. It is part of the Agamic and Aradhana rules of the concerned temples. If you want to have darshan in a temple you have to follow the rules there. You can not get into a gurdwara without covering your scalp. That is the rule. If you can not follow that rule do not go to the temple. Worship the God at home. He will bless you even then. Or conveniently you can build a new temple with your own rules and keep it wide open during the eclipses and pray non-stop before the idol during the eclipse. LOL.

3. Not only Edu kontla vada but many other vadas (Siva variety) also go hungry during the eclipse. Go out and find out how many temples offer naivedhyam during eclipse and you will know the truth.

There is something called poetic liberty .

Mumtaz Mahal was neither a sanyasi nor had a kapala moksham candidate. But she has the Taj Mahal built as the tomb for her.

More people visit Taj Mahal than the tiruvaiyaru samadhi.

These things have no rule or rhyme. It is just that someone thought someone to be great and to perpetuate the memory the tomb was built. If Khushbu-the white idli according to Renukaji-can have a temple all for herself sitting there as the devi, anyone can have a tomb or a temple. All that is needed is some followers.

Dear Vaagmi Sir,

You are really great! You keep enlightening those who are in your ignore list, without addressing them!! :thumb:

All the Gods and Goddesses in temple will NOT have naivEdhyams because of an eclipse; EdukondalavadA is
addressed because the topic of this thread calls HIM ! :decision:
