1. Ramanuja's Thiruvarasu is where it is as permitted by the Agamas pertaining to the Srirangam Temple. those who have doubt may read the relevant Agama and then come here to lecture eloquently. Period.

2. The rule regarding closing of the temple during an eclipse-not only the Tirupati temple but many other temples in Tamilnadu also-has nothing to do with the God being scared of any of the Navagriha. It is part of the Agamic and Aradhana rules of the concerned temples. If you want to have darshan in a temple you have to follow the rules there. You can not get into a gurdwara without covering your scalp. That is the rule. If you can not follow that rule do not go to the temple. Worship the God at home. He will bless you even then. Or conveniently you can build a new temple with your own rules and keep it wide open during the eclipses and pray non-stop before the idol during the eclipse. LOL.

3. Not only Edu kontla vada but many other vadas (Siva variety) also go hungry during the eclipse. Go out and find out how many temples offer naivedhyam during eclipse and you will know the truth.

Funny!! I Believed Edukondal vada is also saiva variety! Now I understand The edukondala vada is not siva but Karuvadu variety - Thanks for this enlightment - yes again there is no conflict with Agamas Like Durgas inside Temples!!

If Navagrahas are of no significance with or compared to Naryana - then why Tirumala temple is to be closed on April 4 becuse of the alignment of the Navagrahas resulting in Lunar Eclipse - Frightened about Raghu Kethu?!

Tirumala temple to be closed on April 4 - The Hindu

A very valid question.

It only shows that fear is a man felt emotion and we close temples!

BTW in Norse Mythology there is a very similar story of Rahu and Ketu and the Sun and Moon but here its about 2 wolves named Skoll and Hati that try to swallow the sun and the moon respectively and we get eclipses.

Dear Renu,

There are certain rules followed by each temple and some rules followed by all the temples. Closing the temple during an

eclipse and when there is a dead body in the vicinity are usual practices. Dress codes are imposed in most of the temples.

No leggings; no jeans pants and so on. I like these but hate the topless fashion for mAmAs! :(

There is something called poetic liberty .

Yes! Hence the first line of that particular post! :)

Madam, it is not merely a poetic liberty.

Sri Lalita sahasranamam says: "karAnguli nakOtpanna, nArAyana daShakruthiH

The dasavataras of Sriman Narayana were created out of the ten fingers of hand of Sri Lalita Tripurasundari.

Sri Lalita sahasranamam is a part of BrahmAnDa purANam and is the result of samvAdam between Lord Hayagreeva and the sage Agastya.

hi

even edukondalavada 's ashtottara naamavali.....KUMARA VAPUR DHARINE NAMAHA....MEANS THE BODY IS KUMARA...MEANS

LORD MURUGA.....SO NAVAGRAHA IS PART OF SHIVA PARIVAAR....KUMARA IS ALSO PART OF SHIVA PARIVAAR...

Dear Narayan Sir,

I wrote
Each devotee thinks his God or Goddess is THE Supreme.

Sri Lalita Sahasranamam is also written by a devotee and has poetical beauty!

And, Dishithar was a devotee of Kamalamba.

Madam,

As per tradition Sri Lalita sahasraamam was NOT written by a devotee, but was composed by vasini-Adhi ashta-devtas. The entire composition was narrated by Lord Hayagreeva to sage Asastya and that is how it came into the domain knowledge of human beings.

We do not consider any narration in any of the purANas as of human composition, but as a narration by Veda Vyasa.

Hence, Sriman Narayana is an avatar of Lalitha Thirupurasandari. Is it right?

Yes....I was kind of pleasantly surprised to read Garuda Dandaka where there is a stanza which states a situation where the hair on the body of Garuda standing becos he is embraced tightly by his wives Rudra and Sukreeti and the feel of their mammary glands on his body makes him happy..but since the hair on his body is standing..it makes the serpents on his body tremble with fear.

This is definitely poetic liberty and a real good imagination and the ever obsession with the mammary glands..male poets somehow never get enough!

What a display of ignorance!!!

1. Those who are in just the bhakti stage can never understand the vaishnavite's view on these matters. May be they will have to spiritually grow to cross the bhakti stage and come to parabhakti, parajnAna and then the final paramabhakti stage to understand these things.

A vaishnavite's LOVE for God is absolute. Whatever is good for him is also good for HIM. and whatever is bad for him is bad for HIM too. During the eclipse there are harmful radiations which can endanger a human life on earth. So it is not good to get exposed to these radiations. Science agrees with this. The food prepared or exposed to such radiations can cause damage to the system.

For a vaishnavite the LOVE for God is absolute. I have said this earlier many times. I would recall the quote from the old widow who exclaimed " கிருஷ்ணா உன்னை இப்படிப்போட்டு ஆட்டு ஆட்டுன்னு ஆட்டறாளேடாப்பா. எனக்குத்தாங்க முடியலையே" looking at the enthusiasm of the sri patham thangi volunteers who were bringing out the deity on their shoulder. I would also recall the unswerving devotion of my village bhattachar who refuses to leave his Navaneethakrishnan in the local temple and go to a comfortable life with his children. I know people will find this a little boring. But at the cost of being repetitive I have recalled these facts. This is to show what is this paramabhakti of a vaishnavite devotee.

Eclipse time is not good for exposure for a vaishnavite and so it is not good time for exposure to his God also. A vaishnavite offers what is best for him to his God. Food cooked during eclipse and served during eclipse time is not good for a vaishnavite. It is bad for him. So it is bad for his God too. He will not offer it to God.

Rahu grastham and Ketu grastham are stories which accompany such high ideals usually. It is for those who have no time or no mind for the parabhakti, parajnana and paramabhakti. A child never takes bitter medicine. It takes it if sugar coated. Stories are like sugar coats. Snakes traditionally cause fear in human mind. and what better story can keep people away from danger than a snake story. LOL.

Ignoramus who know only how to contrive rhymes in bizarre situations will never get this.

தலைக்குக்கீழ கழுத்து.
நெஞ்சுக்கு கீழ இடுப்பு.
கழுத்த வெட்டினா கொலை
இடுப்ப வெட்டினா கலை.

Such TR Rajendran kind of bizarre rhymes are paraded here nowadays. சீத்தலைச்சாத்தன் இல்லாத குறை நல்லாவே தெரியுது. கர்மம் கர்மம் னு தலையிலெ அடிச்சுக்கறதத் தவிர வேற வழியில்ல. சிவ சிவா.

Jesus!

That means there is no spirit of total surrender and there seems to be elements of doubt.

A true Bhakta will not fear any situation and break into song and sing:

Why do I need fear Rahu and Ketu?
Only You matter to me O'Maha Vishnu?
Why close the temple and make my life dark,
I do not want the total eclipse of my heart.

Try to read once Sri Ramanujacharya's Gadyathrayam. Then get a good vaishnavite author's vyaakyaanam for it-particularly what is bhakti, parabhakti, parajnanam and then paramabhakti. And then come here and sing your "why do I.......".

Now I am in conversation with a butcher who knows only the chuk chuk chuk of his cleaver cutting the flesh.

I wonder whether he can ever understand Beethoven's 5th Symphony. When i speak about the Sonata, Andante,Scherzo or the beautiful Finale, he keeps chuk chuk chukking. When I say something about the pregnant and powerful periods of silence that intersperse the flow of the notes of sonata he looks up for a brief moment and continues with his chuk chuking.

But I do not lose hope.

Because I like this butcher chap for his flashes of brilliance and his energy level. LOL.

Agreed. What else can we expect? Shall we expect that everything should be taken to the logical end every time?

I thought the butcher would know Vyadha Gita!LOL

I thought the butcher would know Vyadha Gita!LOL

He is far more smart. No intermediaries/sheath between him and his object of pleasure. He has his frequent trips straight into the Universal Consciousness. His Gitas are only those with that name who come to buy a piece of liver from his shop. LOL.

Is the butcher a Vaishnavite, since he is chanting only Narayana Narayana?

Regarding 5th Symphony, Beethoven was likely a beef eater, no? How come he produced such music while having decidedly unsattvic habits?

Siva, Siva!
The next Q will be his sub-sect!! :faint:

Butchers do have sub sects - on religious as well as caste-wise. There is a separate Muslim sect in Maharashtra doing Beef business. Illogical & superstitious thinking is the real stupidity.

I have read before that he was believed to be a Vegan.
Dont know how far its true..anyway since Vegan is more Sattva than a vegetarian that is why he produced brilliant music.

Butchers should specialize like doctors..that is we should have :

1)Leg piece specialist butchers.

2)Internal organ specialists.

3)Spine and brain.

4)Dental and oral specialist..cos Ox tongue is a delicacy.

So lets all respect the Butcher.

He is merely doing his Dharma.
