Tips for becoming more (dis) loyal to what you (don't) believe...

Not that they REALLY need them...

but no harm in listing them all the same...!

1. They can get rid of their names resembling/ resounding the names of

Hindu Gods. (There must be plenty of options still open!)

2. They may opt for a doughnut/coke send off when their time comes!

3. They may opt for Panchatantra being read in their memory.

4. The heroes of those stories must share many common characteristics.

Otherwise they won't be preferred over the heroes of the Ithihaasa

and Puraanaas of Hinduism.

5. Their mortal remains may be opted to be left in the open ground to

feed the heroes of the Panchatantra stories-their new scriptures.

6. Becoming ex-Indians, ex-brahmins, ex-vegetarians, ex-teetotalers is

NOT sufficient. They must attack their own kith and kin and try to

demolish their own religion/gospels and scriptures.

The fanatics who try to spread their religion (with a sword in one hand

and their teachings in the other) are a thousand times better than

these modern, liberated, enlightened, flamboyant elites!

At least they don't defile their own religion. They are only trying to bring

in more persons under their fold -by hook or crook!

Isn't it strange that...

people instantly believe that water-the best purifier, the best thirst

quencher and the best cleaning agent found in nature is a DEADLY

poison and start spreading the message,

(the misinformed enlightening the uninformed???)

But when they are told that there is a super power, a super brain and a

super Conscience behind the perfect order seen in this expanding Universe...

they doubt it!!!

dear Afsha Karima!
Imli must have loved you and your family members more than its freedom.
That is why it did not try to escape from you and your home.
Sometimes people or animals we have loved will be born again as pet animals in the same house.
There many things we can’t explain through science.
Only faith can explain and convince us.
Did you get a new parrot to replace Imli?
Do you really understand our beliefs and philosophy?
If you do, I am very happy to have you as one of my readers!
Most of them are interesting stories.
Even if you don’t know to read Tamil, you can read the story in English given below.
with Best wishes,
Visalakshi Ramani.

Thanks to the young friend who suggested that I should write my various

experiences in the forum. :typing:

Looking back I find that in spite of the continuous Vanavaasam I had gone

through, there are several interesting experiences to share with others.

Mostly I want to stick to experiences which have an element of humor/
a message / or both! :tea:

Dear Sis,

In my opinion, a person is said to be in 'vanavaasam', if the place where he / she lives in, has

no facilities like a city! But the colonies have all the facilities of a city and have the added

advantages of cleaner environment and lesser power cuts!! The officers' club is a good place

to have fun, play games and meet people of different culture. You know how much such a life

costs in a city? I am still wondering whether you had 'vanavaasam' at any stage of your life!

Best wishes,
Raji Ram

Dear Raji,

This itself poses to be a Point to Ponder! :)

By vanavaasam I meant that we live in a remote area farther from the

distracting activities, buzzing traffic and abstain from going to movies,

dramas, visiting Hotels and other exotic and expensive places.

Sita lived in Ashoka vanam. She could have lived in all luxury and

comforts like a queen, but she did not want it. So vanavaasam can also

mean willful abstaining from comforts and fun.

That is what I had in my mind when I wrote about my vanavaasam!

with love and regards,
V. R. Akka. :tea:

Dear Mr. Raja!

It might seem very far fetched! But, are you by any chance, the alter ego of a

person- whose name rings a bell in my mind?

No harm whether you really are or you are not!

I have accepted you as my younger ( forum) brother already! :)

with warm regards,
V.R. :tea:

..................

Dear Sis,

Sorry for disturbing you again! In our colony, we had all comforts and fun too. Two movies

per week, club meetings once in a week which included 'Thambola' games once in a while,

indoor shuttle and table tennis courts, swimming pool, shopping complex, school for children

etc ( not end of thinking capacity!!). We DID live a very comfortable life, which in my opinion

is not like vanavaasam! If you say abstaining from going to expensive hotels and viewing

movies in theaters as vanavaasam, then according to you, I am also in vanavaasam for the

past 29 years, in Chennai!!

Love,
Raji Ram

My dear Raji,

Yes! you too are in vanavaasam of course.

All work and no play, all duties and no relaxation, all commitments and no

freedom... they all constitute vanavaasam.

I think whoever remains focused is in vanavasam. That is why people

went to vanam in the first place - To remain focused on their aim.

So there may be many more people in this Forum who qualify to be in

vanavasam in the sense I am using it.

with best wishes and love,
V.R. Akka.

I always used to get mused by the disguises used in movies.

A large wart on the cheek or chin,

A pair goggles hiding the forehead and cheeks, :spy:

A simple scarf, :music:

A pencil thin mustache.

a goatee,

A hat,
:hat:

A handkerchief around the neck...
:hippie:

I am amused even more that similar things can happen in a Forum

where we can hardly see each other

and yet sense the discrepancy.
