A common Hindi word in English:

BOBBERY

PRONUNCIATION:

We know that English borrows words liberally from other languages and it has only helped it to grow, Whereas some chavenists in Tamilnadu seemed worried over that preventing the growth of Tamil. There are many examplkes. Ayya and Ayyo find a place in Oxford dictionary. the following word is one such thing,
(BOB-uh-ree)

MEANING:

noun: Squabble; commotion; confusion.

ETYMOLOGY:

A corruption of Hindi “bap re” (literally, oh father!அட or அடேயப்பா), an exclamation of surprise, grief, etc., from bap (father) + re (oh). Earliest documented use: 1816.

USAGE:

“The whole bobbery, which has simmered for years, will finally come to a boil on Tuesday.”

Now that the ordinance in favour of Jallikattu is cleared by the centre and is likely to be promulgated in a day or two, I hope the students who are protesting against Jallikattu ban will withdraw the protest and disperse peacefully. The students deserve congratulations for not allowing politicians to enter the fray.

Nearly six months after a crow sat on the Chief Minister’s car forcing him to change the car after it was considered inauspicious by many, another crow arrived to haunt Siddaramaiah, this time outside the state. On Thursday Mr Siddaramaiah was in Manjeshwaram in Kerala to participate in the inauguration of Gilivindu project- a memorial for writer, Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai.
Crow catching is a proverb in Tamil to denote currying favour. At times crows may take revenge on people for reasons not known. some people have reported the incidents of their being repeatedly attacked by crows, Siddharamaiah, CM of Karnataka seems to attract or invoke crows. if a crow pecks at the head of a person, as per certain traditions, people used to spread false rumour about the death of the person attacked as an atonement. What atonement Siddharamiah has, I don't know.

This study is based on Company sponsored research and naturally their findings will be in favour of the companies. this is one reason why we get contradictory reports about tea, coffee oats and such other consumable items just to promote business claiming all sorts of virtues and wonderful properties for the products they market.

Those who oppose Jallikattu are not anti Tamils. They are entitled for their views. Many of our cultural heritages have been questioned by rationalists and have been quashed. even though I support Jallikattu not out of fear, but as a matter of right, in a democracy people of different opinions should be allowed to have their say. Mobocracy should not take over in any garb. if allowed, in future, there may be mob appraisal even against legitimate things like fasting as a way of protest being misused by all and sundry today.

Protests over Jallikattu have no base in ideology
The Jallikattu protest has taken a revolutionary mode due to media attention.

Jallikattu row: Suriya sends legal notice to PETA, demands apology

PTI

For Jallikkattu ban Peta is not to be blamed. IT WAS THE THEN UPA GOVERNMENT RUN BY CONGRESS WITH THE SUPPORT OF DMK that included bulls in the list of animals tortured. So if you want to blame anybody, blame DMK. To cover up this fact, DMK is enacting the drama of Rail Roko. Students will do well to understand the double game played by DMK. Tear the mask of DMK and not blame the present government at the State and Center. It is hoped that the center and the State will revoke the ban permanently. No use fighting against PETA which believes in preventing tortures to animals as a matter of animal welfare and it is not specifically targeting Tamilnadu and its culture.

Climate change. global warming are the two current topics causing concern to scientists all over.
f sea levels were to increase by nine metres, parts of London and New York, almost all the Netherlands, huge chunks of China, including Shanghai, and much of Bangladesh would be just some of the places that would be lost to the sea. But the bad news does not end there. if what is feared by scientists is to happen, that will be the end of the world or as we believe that will be final deluge after which new life has to start
But Mr Trump has no faith in global warming and consequent warning. But the immediate effect of Mr Trump assuming charge of the presidency of United States is the entire world is getting not warmer but hotter. .

After Jallikattu stir success, chorus for lifting ban on Kambala in Karnataka

Kambala is a bull race in Karnataka. So bulls seem to have the day.

Students seem to go bullish to get the bulls run. So far so good. But because of the current success, if students are to resort to agitations and stirs for unreasonable cause, that will be most unfortunate. I hope they won't.

The students agitation against the ban of Jallikattu as feared by me, is taking an ugly turn. The death of two persons with 57 injured does not augur well and this will only prove the fear of PETA and its justification for the ban. In the meanwhile Kamal Hasan has issued a statement condemning PETA. This fellow has absolutely no qualification to talk about Tamil culture, a fellow who promotes lip to lip kissing in his pictures, a fellow who justifies living together, a fellow who has no respect for marriage as an institution and any of the other Tamil cultures, and a fellow who promotes promiscuity has no business to open his gutter mouth about Jallikattu and Tamil culture. He is a curse of Tamilnadu and its culture. Let him not poke his bloody nose in matters of Tamil culture. Now there is a fear that students are misguided by some vested interests inimical to the state government and center Jallikattu protest is falling on evil hands. Government can only operate within the frame work of the constitution and law and any change can be brought about within this framework and it will be antidemocratic to enforce the government to act on your dictates. Centre has already explained its stand that the matter is sub judice and hence it cannot issue the ordinance. However it has given permission to the state government under the provisions of the existing law to promulgate an ordinance in support of Jallikattu and has given its green signal for the same. what else can one expect under these situations? To lift the ban once for all, it has to be done through proper channel and that may take some time. The sudents and the public should realise this and not take law into their hands. The students who are better informed should desist from continuing the stir any further and should also stop supporting the parties if they continue the stir to gain some political advantages,

Shillong: 11-year-old girl gangraped in field by 7 minor boys

What is happening to the country which brags itself of high morale and high culture? What is the reason for this great fall of ours. You can't blame politicians for this. The people are solely responsible for this degradation. The way things are moving, I don't see any ray of hope for the nation in the near future. There needs to be a revolution of hearts.

After Suriya-Dhanush, Kamal Haasan slams PETA over opposition of Jallikattu

PTI

what is it that you are going to say about the death of 2 persons and those who are injured. Are you going to honour them as heroes and support their families? But whatever you do, the lives that are lost are lost once for all. You peple participate in the bull fight and show to the world how to tame a bull, not cinematically, but really. One person against one bull was what is referred to in our ancient books as " Eru Thazhuvuthal" and not the way it is done now. A hundred chasing and running after a bull is an insult to Tamil Culture. Make it a real sports and not an unequally cruel one. Ask Jallikattu organisers to organise the sport in an organised and safe manner instead of taking a stand to keep yourself in limelight.

Jallikattu ban: Littered Marina beach an eyesore
DECCAN CHRONICLE.
Only yesterday, the media was all praise of students who assembled in Marina of picking the left overs and rags and keeping Marina clean. today, it tells a different story. A crowd is a crowd and students are students. No use blaming them. The media instead of telling and exposing facts is carried away by mobocracy and has failed to do its righteous duty.

he proponents of jallikattu say that first, if the sport is banned, owners of indigenous bulls may no longer find it worth preserving the indigenous variants. Second, they say it is the ‘untamed’ bull that is used for breeding and so they may no longer be able to identify the strongest male, as a result of which the stock will weaken. It is only the Jellicut (identified as Pulikulam) that has been described scientifically (between 1870 and 1930) as a “small bull specially bred for bull-fighting/taming in the Tamil region“, according to the Roslin Institute of the University of Edinburgh. Again, it is medieval to identify a herd bull through an inefficient method like jallikattu. Better methods to identify a herd bull are by identifying desirable heritable qualities in the animal, ensuring pedigree (purebred or cross-breed), reading expected progeny differences, breeding soundness (ability to get cows pregnant), and semen examination. Alternatives such as artificial insemination should also be considered. A herd book or register should be established.
Accurate and permanent records of individual cows and breeding herds also need to be maintained, .
While breed development has been undertaken in the past in India, little has been done on scientific evaluation.
Neither chauvinism nor mere goodwill is an alternative to science. Only science can ensure commercial viability and enduring pride in our native breeds.
The article gives a detailed picture of the problem

Misuse of social media

Social media like FaceBook do give opportunities for all and sundry to express their views and bring out the latent talents in individuals. It has helped us during the Chennai deluge and Vaardha cyclone and other such critical situations. But it has an other side with a gory look. I am distressed to see that the most unbecoming, unprintable, obnoxious, obscene words which are highly personal are being used by quite a sizeable population making it dreadful. The expletives used by some against women and those whom they dislike and the casteistic and caustic remark does create a doubt whether we are in a civilised society or not. Even within the limited circle of friends with whom we want to chat and exchange ideas, these sort of voluptuous comments creep in making one shudder to read them. Social media has corrupted even some leaders to use unsuitable words. A Harvard educated economist cum politician thought it fit to describe Tamils involved in Jallikattu stir as "Porukkis" which is quite unbecoming of an individual like Subramaniaswamy and the retaliation for the same is still worse, blaming Swamy in the most vulgar terms dragging his caste in the meanwhile. For no fault of his, Modi who gave all his support to the cause of Jallikattu is abused using the meanest of language. The Jallikattu stir which was started by students with the single aim of lifting the ban on it which went on peacefully ultimately had such a bad end with miscreants, antisocials and antinationals taking over the show leading to violence and abuse. I find in youtube videos blasphemous and highly objectionable concocted misinformation to misdirect and confuse the public.

The way the social media being misused to air personal prejudices in a very nasty way is severely condemnable. I have half a mind to close my FaceBook account lest, it corrupts me too, but because of my other disabilities, this is the only way for me of keeping contact with the outside world. I regret that such a good medium should be misused.
but I am happy that Tamil Brahmins Forum has not reduced that level and a fairly high standard is maintained.

In the present season of Jallikkattu, police excesses and political complications, as a diversion, I think this article on food combinations may be of interest to those who look for a change. Many of our habits of combining certain foods, each good for health by itself it seems is becoming unhealthy by an unwise combination for health. But a word of caution . We get diametrically opposite informations on food almost everyday. One day they say coconut is bad. THe next day they say it is very good for health. About fruits, coffe, tea etc, each day a conflicting statement is issued under the pretext of some research or other. It seems there are no standards set in these matters and it is also not possible. One's own experience is the deciding factor based on one's family background and personal health history. However the article is interesting and may provide some clue for certain people. There is no harming trying to avoid the combinations suggested as unhealthy. Ultimately, you are the best judge in this matter.

Tax cash withdrawals above Rs 50,000: Chandrababu-led CMs panel to Modi

This is a very bad move. It amounts to double taxation. To tax the cash withdrawals above Rs 50,000, the money in the bank which is in our account AFTER PAYING INCOME TAX is punishing the law abiding citizens. This is the way of encouraging cheaters and looters. People may have to withdraw money for personal use, house building, marriages and so on and punishing them for the avarice of the government to make money someway is cruel and short sighted. Already many of the taxes imposed are meaningless and to burden people, particularly those who are law abiding, paying their taxes regularly and observing and respecting all the rules of the land is unjustifiable, because they are your soft targets. You are allowing the whales who cheat the government to escape, but want to put the law abiding people to suffer.

Chennai police say cops who misbehaved during jallikattu protests will be identified and punished

Punishing the miscreants among the police should be taken up on a priority basis. They should immediately be dismissed and action taken against them suitably for anti governmental activities,And that is not enough. Their antecedents should be checked and their instigators identified. It is time that the black sheep among the police should be weeded out.

Chennai doctors remove hairball from the stomach of a girl
I don't think that the girl concerned was eating her hair on the fond hope that it is a source of protein. It is rather unbelievable that her parents did not know their daughter's hair eating habit until it became so serious as to warrant an open surgery. Parents beware. Take care of your children by carefully observing all their activities and games.

Vitamins and health
