Dear PJ sir and Bala sir,

I am handing over this thread fully to you both.

I have decided to give up the God concept and hence from now on I would be just a passive participant here in this thread and not an active participant.I might share any info if I have for the benefits of others from time to time.

It is not that I do not believe in God but right now I want to totally rely on myself and if I still actively indulge in any religious thread that would only show hypocrisy.

So kindly take over this thread.

I thank you Sathya Sai Baba for being a launching pad for me to reach this state of thinking.I feel that is what You really wanted me to be.

I do not know why Baba wants you to be away. I shall be visiting
Baba tomorrow to find out the reason.

People get carried away by the body and forget the Divinity within. Have strong faith in God. Do not have faith in this body, which is temporary. Body is like a water bubble, mind is like a mad monkey. Don’t follow the body, don’t follow the mind. Follow your conscience. That is the principle of the Divine Self (Atma). You will experience Divinity only when you follow your conscience. Love everybody, but do not trust anybody. You have to repose your trust only in God. What is the reason? Why should you not trust others? It is because Man is impermanent. God expects only love. You can cultivate love easily. Love is within you, develop it. You have to share this love with everybody. Love even the one who hates you. To harm a person who harmed you is nothing great. Real greatness lies in loving even the person who harmed you.

- Divine Discourse, Mar 14, 1999.

A true heart in full assurance of faith from the Supreme Power will never keep
away from HIM. If a person holds faith having good conscience will never keep
away from the Supreme Power. Once the conscience is clear, it will certainly
help him/her to keep away from wrong deeds. The conscience will also facilitate
to silence the evildoers. Once one understands himself/herself and the conscience
is clear. he/she can walk freely in the pathway of righteousness and there is
nothing to worry. Nature has taught certain virtues viz. impartial, perfect, spiritual,
lovable, righteous, merciful, faithful, etc.
Everyone is the offspring of Supreme
Power and so everyone is answerable to HIM. Divine Attributes of life matters
much for everyone. Dwelling in HIS vision/light, which no one can approach, unless
the Supreme Power is pleased with the devotee. So long one is not a transgressor
of divine law, one need not have to worry. HE is the Saviour and hence one must
serve HIM at all times without any restrictions or ill feelings.

Food is the primary requisite for life. One cannot live without food. Hence life has been described as Annamaya (composed of food). But one is not content to live on food alone. The mind is not satisfied if the stomach is full. Although food is essential for the body, the mind craves for Ananda (bliss). Life can find fulfilment only if Ananda is experienced. Hence, you cannot rest content with merely being alive. You have to be active and ever on the move. In the process one has to ask oneself the questions, ‘Why am I restless? Why am I active? What do I do to engage myself in actions? Why am I performing these actions? How am I doing them?’ It is when one enquires into these matters, can the true purpose and meaning of actions be realised. This enquiry has to be conducted in the proper way. Once you come to the conclusion that a certain action is right, you should then do it with earnestness.

- Divine Discourse, Apr 23, 1988.

One may have umpteen thoughts. The Supreme Power enlightens the mind only
when a person or devotee comes to know about HIM and get absorbed in HIS
activities or deeds. It may not be easy to get complete freedom or to keep
away from the thoughts unless one realises the Self. Normally in deep sleep
no thoughts arise. Only when the mind comes out of the concept of Self,
it can realise the world and the need or necessity for realizing the divine worship
as the impure mind cannot know anything. If one pays attention with a calm mind
one can also understand the necessity for the spiritual experience. To attain
gnanam, one has to get released or relieved from the ignorance. Thus one has
to understand the reality.

All spiritual practices (Sadhana) will go in vain if you do not know your true identity. Instead of asking others, “Who are you?” ask yourself, “Who am I?” We say, “This is my book, this is my tumbler.” Then, "Who am I? The feeling of ‘my’ is illusion (maya). All this ‘mine’ is matter; they are negative. You think you are the master of this material world. Master the mind and be a mastermind! Make an effort to know your true identity. To know this, you should first give up body attachment. When I say this is ‘my handkerchief’, I am separate from the handkerchief. Similarly, when I say this is ‘my body’, I am separate from the body. When I say, ‘my mind’ it means I am separate from my mind. Then who am I? Constant enquiry on these lines would lead y ou to self realisation.

- Divine Discourse, Mar 14, 1999.

Initially one has to do some practices whether it is beneficial or not. One
has to spend some time daily educating oneself towards spiritual exercises
so as to find a change in one's routine. May be it may look like boredom;
but then during continuous practices one may find a change over the period.
Strengthening of mind towards spiritual exercises is obligatory. How to do
exercise, etc. one has to learn from a Guru. Spiritual practice enables a
person towards spiritual development and one would be able to achieve a
determined goal. Spiritual discipline cultivates confession of mistakes,
fasting, humility, meditation, prayer, self-control, simplicity, singing of
Bhagavan Nama submission, worship, etc.

Anjali Devi in the service of her Divine Master Coming to Bhagawan in the 60s
Drawn to Swami in the early 60s during a sudden poor run in the movie industry, Mrs. Anjali Devi and her husband, Mr. Adi Narayana Rao were assured by Baba that their fortunes will turn for the better shortly. Needless to say, Bhagawan’s words came true and the couple became devotees for life. It was not the assurance alone, that drew them. The majesty of the form and the ecstasy they felt in His presence brought tears to their eyes. Anjali Devi recollecting this incident 42 years later said, “Though so many years have passed, the same feeling of excitement coupled with happiness, wells up in my heart when I have Swami's darshan. And I am certain that it will be the same till I breathe my last.”

A Conversation with Mrs. Anjali Devi in Telugu
[/TD]

Divine Guidance All Through in Her Career
Bhagawan instructed the couple to make the movie Sati Sakkubai (1965) which altogether changed the tides of fortune for the family’s production house. In fact Baba instructed the couple to release the movie under a new banner, Chinni Brothers (named after her children). The movie went on to be a hit of the year, with a successful hundred-days run. The couple later produced many other successful movies under this new banner.
But deep in her heart, Mrs. Anjali Devi wished to resurrect the earlier production house of the family, Anjali Pictures. Bhagawan Who heard her unexpressed wish, instructed her to make the movie Bhakta Tukaram (1973) under the Anjali Pictures banner. The music for the film given by her husband, Mr. Adinarayana Rao and immortalised by the voice of another devotee of Bhagawan, Ghantasala would be presented before Bhagawan by His students and devotees a number of times in the years that followed. (‘Ghanaa Ghana Sundaraa Karunaa Rasa Mandiraa’, for example).
It is indeed quite interesting how Baba, even as He favoured a devotee through His timely guidance, also directed them to give movies to the people that raised their consciousness.

Longing to Serve Her Swami
A devotee always yearns to use one's talents to make an offering to the Lord. That was the case with Anjali Devi too. She fervently nurtured the desire to one day make a movie on Baba. But Baba was least interested and so the prayer remained unanswered for a long while. In the meantime, Bhagawan had given her the opportunity, on a few occasions to train His students for the dramas they would stage for Bhagawan. That way, she found some fulfilment of offering her talent to the Lord. Even during those times, more than the chance of training His boys, what she cherished was the opportunity to see Swami Himself come and correct and train the students after she was done with her training.

It is said that a devotee's true triumph lies in finding that permanent place in the heart of the Lord. One could say with confidence, that Anjali Devi had accomplished that feat.
Each time Bhagawan would talk about Hanuman, He would say, “Hanuman was born to queen Anjani Devi. Not Anjali Devi, the film star!”The audience would burst into ripples of laughter, but what can give more joy to a devotee than being remembered by the Lord Himself, even if in a light hearted manner (Interestingly, her original name was Anjani!). And also, it is difficult to put a number to the many times Baba has seen her movies, Bhakta Prahlada (where she played the role of Prahlada's mother) and Lava Kusa (where she donned the role of Mother Sita) with His students.
With years, Anjali Devi had given up the idea of the film on Swami. But Swami had His own plans and timings for them. One day, out of the blue the permission that had not been given for years was given unasked. Not just that, Baba gave her a series of interviews in which Swami personally revealed to her the entire story of the Shirdi and the Sathya Sai Avatar. We all know that Baba never gave a thought to means and ways of publicity. In that case, the attention that He gave to this project stands a testimony to the pure devotion of Anjali Devi. He visited the sets, spoke to the crew and even permitted her to cast some of His own students from the school in the film. On Gurupoornima day of 1998, Swami blessed the telefilm and exactly one year later released it.

A Dream Come True for the Dear Devotee
The film was made as a tele-serial, originally in Telugu - Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai Divya Katha; but it went on to be translated into many languages. Not only did Anjali Devi finally get to make the film she so dearly wanted to, but she also played the roles of Devagiri Amma and Easwaramma (the mothers of the two Avatars) fulfilling another deep and sublime desire. On the occasion of the film's release Bhagawan blessed Anjali Devi by materialising an ornate gold necklace for her.

The Exemplary Devotion of a Legendary Devotee
The world may remember her as a performer par excellence, a successful producer or a veteran actress. But we remember her as a pure, simple and humble devotee. Please do not mistake this for a presumption or a foregone conclusion. We at Radio Sai have been a witness to her humility and devotion. Recollecting her years with Swami would choke her and fill her eyes with tears of joy. Her simplicity, and pleasant and soft speech made us forget that we were in the presence of a legend. That for us was a true devotee. We remember her today and shall remember her forever as one dear devotee of our beloved Bhagawan. We are certain that the resting place for such a devotee can be none else than His lotus feet.

In fact such a life can be called a life of dullness (thamas), not penance (thapas). One must be stubborn and also must have strong convictions to attain the
divine bliss. One must be pious and ought to have good temperament to
accept the divine deeds or acts. Sometimes one may be able to sacrifice
something in life and keep away from disagreement relating to spiritual activities.
One should not be shunned by the people who do not keep themselves in
spiritual acts and one must have an open mind to know spiritual deeds.
Under no circumstance one must not be guided by another person which is not
relevant to Satsang duties thus creating hard feelings amongst Satsangees.
One must wholeheartedly pursue and contemplate on spiritual deeds knowing
his/her clear duty in a given situation.

Recognize the Divine within yourself. Open the doors of your heart. Develop love more and more. Understand the truth. Experience God. There lies the bliss. Make every effort to understand the immanent Divinity. The Divinity within you is covered by ego and anger. Therefore, real knowledge dawns when attachment is destroyed (Moham hithva punar vidya). Where does this attachment come from? Excessive desires lead to attachment. You may attain temporary peace by undertaking repetition of the name (Japa), meditation (dhyana), and yoga. To attain permanent peace, you must develop love within. Love can turn earth into sky and sky into earth. This sacred love is within you. But, you direct it in the wrong direction and thereby it gets perverted. Develop the sacred Love within you to realise your innate Divinity.

- Divine Discourse, Mar 14, 1999.

Firstly one should have an unshakeable belief in something
whether it is Supreme Power or anything. Faith is nothing but
belief and truth. Once one has faith, it would extend the
necessary power to gain mental strength, clarity and focus
on any issue. Further, it develops new ideas and rather it
changes the attitudes of a person too. Once a person gets
an understanding, he/she will do certain duties without
any deviation. As Baba says one should have self-confidence,
self-satisfaction, self-sacrifice and self-realisation in life.
Everything depends upon the faith. Suppose, if you feel
the Supreme Power is in a form of stone, then automatically
it becomes God. Thus faith is the basis or foundation for all
acts. Once a person has both faith and love, everything else
will automatically emerge. No doubt education is imperative.
Yet, more than education, the spiritual life will protect a person
from every angle. Hence, one has to live with devotion towards
Supreme Power and develop an outlook for incessant thinking
and doing all deeds leading to spiritual developments in life.

Meditation does not mean sitting cross-legged (in Padmasana) with eyes closed in contemplation of God. This is physical, worldly activity. No doubt, this is needed, but true meditation lies in unifying the mind with God. Just as milk and water cannot be separated, likewise, the mind, once merged with God, cannot be separated. Likewise, your love should become one with Divine love. Some people contemplate on God for a limited period in the morning and evening. This cannot be called meditation. You must contemplate on God at all times, at all places and under all circumstances. Perform all tasks with your mind firmly fixed on God. That is true meditation. Thinking of God for a limited period is only part-time devotion. Part-time devotion entitles you to only part-time grace. You should have full-time devotion in order to attain grace in full measure.

- Divine Discourse, Aug 22, 2000

One has to prepare the mind with a contemplation for a successful
meditation by keeping away from any hindrances that may cause
during meditation. One has to have a single-pointed concentration
to attain the divine blessings because one's mind is likely to wander
during meditation exercises. Above all, one has to maintain a
peaceful mind throughout the session of meditation exercises.
If dedication is not there, then the merit or object of meditation
has no value. Besides, the success of meditation mainly depends
upon the purity of one's conduct outside the meditation session,
particularly during day to day activities. Once a person is successful
in meditation exercises with concentration, dedication, etc. one
can maintain a peaceful mind throughout the life without any problem.
As Baba says, one has to have a full time dedication towards the
Supreme Power at all times.

The entire creation is based on truth. Where there is truth, there you find plenty and prosperity. Human life is not meant to enjoy physical comforts and worldly pleasures, which are momentary. It is meant to set an ideal to the rest of the world. Ask yourself, “Having lived all these years, what is the ideal I have set and achieved?” You might have done a few good deeds in life, but they may be outdone by the number of bad deeds you may have performed. That is not the quality of a human being. Cultivate good thoughts, speak good words and perform good deeds. That is true humanness. We remember the ancient sages and seers even today because of the good deeds they have performed. Do unto others what you would like others to do unto you. Do not indiscriminately follow the mind, for the mind is like a mad monkey. Follow your conscience. Love is the under current of all this. So lead a life suffused with love.

- Divine Discourse, Aug 22, 2000.

Whatever one does, one has to do it according to one's own self conscious
and not to worry about others; because good deeds sometimes, it may
create an embarrassment. Let us not go by mere definition that a
a bad deed is something one does bad or a good deed is something that
one does good. One has to realize and follow the conscience about the
necessity for performing it. To attain Mukthi, one has to perform the
karmas and get out of prarbdhams, from which one cannot escape. One
has to keep away from selfishness, greed, jealousy, anger and attain humility. One
can find from the scriptures that the sages never used to feel the need for
pleasures to the physical body. In fact their palm of the hand, which is always kept
open is their bowl, the earth is their bed and the sky is their clothing. They did
sacrifice their life just for the sake of attaining jeevan mukthi or moksha.
