Many staunch devotees prefer Temple premises, which is supposed to be a
silence zone for meditation, prayer etc. But then, we see at times in the
temple vicinity, the noise of people disturbing the devotees who prefer to
have an absolute silence, chatting generally on world events, political issues,
family matters, latest trends in the stock market, etc.

The very object of silence in the holy places like Temples, is to promote
individual consciousness on spiritual aspects. In fact, to be precise, the
silence translates the language of the soul into an objective sense of purpose.
Many devotees, choose the temple premises, have a clear notion in their minds
that silence culminates to the actual route towards spiritual growth, may be
through quiet contemplation, meditation or we see people sitting on the bank
of the river or Temple Tank adjacent to the Temple watching the Vimanam of
the Temple or the sky. This enables such people to get merged or reconnected
with the soul and aims at getting a requisite balanced life besides bringing
a fresh energy in them over and above a peace of mind.

Service to humanity is valued high. Especially, when we visit the Orphanages, we
see children and elderly people suffering for want of day to day needs. As a
servant of God, one must serve such humanity spontaneously, purely out of
love and affection without any reservation, which would indirectly give us a mental
satisfaction, as we render it at the instance of God's desire. Further when you
do service to the Children, you will be very very happy. We can sit with them and
interact slowly and slowly , educate them to do Dhyana, Meditation, etc., as the
same would facilitate them to forget their sad feelings, unwanted emotions, etc.

Avatara Purushas (divine advents) have no merit or demerit accumulated in former births, unlike ordinary mortals. They do not have any balances to pay off in a birth. Theirs is a Leela(divine play), a birth taken on. The goodness of the good and the wickedness of the bad provide reasons for an Avatar of the Lord. As a result of the advent of the Lord, the good will be happy and the bad will suffer. The Avatar, however has no joy or grief, even when enveloped in the body assumed. TheAvatar is not constituted of the five elements; it is chinmayanot mrinmaya - spiritual not material; it can never be disturbed by egoism or the sense of ‘mine’ and ‘thine’; it is untouched by the delusion born of ignorance. Though men may mistake anAvatar as just human, that does not a ffect the Avatar’s nature; an Avatar comes for a task and is always bound to accomplish it.

We have been reading in the media and hear from the elders that the
children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. There are many children
who are forced to live in Orphanages. They need our love and affection.
Love and affection has a unique healing power. If you show affection
towards such children, it gives them a moral peace and courage. Further the
courage gets developed in them into a form of dream leading to a life of hope.
It would make them to imagine to have a better structured life and make a
positive change in their minds as they grow. We see some children studying
very well in the orphanages.

Virtuous character is found in Nature, and among the animals and birds as well. In the epic Ramayana, the eagle Jatayu was saved as a result of his virtuous nature (Guna). That is the reason why several monkeys too were given a chance to serve and be blessed with His grace. The same reason prompted the Lord to bless the squirrels who contributed to building the bridge in the epic. A monk or devotee is not made by a string of beads, an ochre robe and a stick in the hand. The clothes one wears and the language one has on the tongue do not decide who is a virtuous person and who is not; it is one’s conduct that settles it. Even animals have the potentiality to be good. Virtues (Guna) sometimes leads us towards actions, behaviors and
life styles that are opposed to Dharma. It is also termed that the people
who are possessing Tamas Guna may have disadvantages like negative
habits and attitudes. Further, they have a tendency of ignorance, lethargy
and a sort of indifference towards Karmic Laws without being able to analyze
the actual factor of right/wrong. Sometimes, it generates a kind of selfish
behavior, ruled by fear, lazy in doing things, cowardice, etc. We have to strictly
adhere certain good virtues in our life viz. Commitment to do service to humanity,
faith towards God, kindness & love to needy and sick people, Forgiveness, Gratitude,
and a courage to do any Samaritan activity with self confidence.

It is dedication to the Lord that sanctifies all activities. He is the prompter, executor, the giver of the required strength and skill, and the one who enjoys the fruit thereof. So dedication must come naturally to you, for all is His, and nothing is yours! Your duty is to believe that He is the impeller of your activities and draw strength from that belief. Until the wound heals and the new skin hardens, the bandage must protect the place. So too, until reality within is realized, the balm of faith, holy company and holy thoughts must be applied to the ego-affected mind. Develop good habits, mix in the company of the pious, do good deeds and serve those in distress - all these steps will lead you into the glorious path of Self-Knowledge. Take to this discipline from now and save yourselves from grief and distress. I bless that you get the will to do so and to persist until success is won.

We dedicate ourselves to our Mahatmas of Kali Yuga, assuming them as a Shrine mainly because we
had seen the Divine power in them. For e.g. Kanchi Maha Periyaval and Baba are living examples to us.

God is inherent and an extremely great supreme power. We recognise HIM as immanent as well as
transcendent. The illumination can come through our mind once we recognise our oneness with the
Divine Power with absolute dedication and confidence in HIM. Sometimes, we may term it as
Intuition. Intuition leads us to spiritual nature, if we dwell in it, would enables us to practically understand
the sense perception. That spiritual sense would further make us to know the secrets of nature of life
and realize the supremacy of being the creation of God or God's Bliss.

The wicked revel in creating trouble for such men and in indulging in acts contrary to the injunctions of the scriptures. What then is the establishment of Dharma? It is acting strictly according to the tenets laid down in the scriptures; spreading among people the glory and the splendour of a life lived in Dharma; stabilising reverence towards the holy scriptures, towards God, Avatars andParamapurushas (evolved souls) and the Sadhana (spiritual practices) that leads to liberation and blessedness beyond this life. It is called Dharma-samsthaapana, Dharmarakshana orDharmoddhaarana (establishment, protection or reviv al of righteousness). Dharma is Righteousness and Adharma is Unrighteousness. The general concept that
we read from our Puranas is - Dharma, if followed, preserves one and Dharma, if violated,
it leads one to destruction. Non-injury (Ahima) to all living beings is the highest Dharma
according to our religious code. Even, we read in books that the doctrine of moral law
(Dharma) is more powerful than even the God's bliss. We all know that Vedas and Dharma
go hand in hand. We are also aware that Dharma has it roots in the three Vedas and
similarly the three Vedas are the root of Dharma. They are interlinked. In fact, it is
said Mahabharatha is equal to four Vedas. We can see many episodes in the above
great epic, which explains us the key relation between Dharma and Veda. Therefore,
we should try to preserve Dharma and continue to obey it as it always protects us.

To feel that the Lord is away, afar or separate from you is Paroksha jnana (indirect knowledge). To feel that the Lord who is immanent in the universe is in you also as the Atman - that is Aparoksha jnana(directly experienced). If all activity is moved by the dedicatory spirit, the Chittha (inner concience) can be rendered pure. Only such can recognise the divine nature of the Lord's birth and actions (Janma and Karma), said Krishna. All cannot so recognise the Divine. Yet no one should avoid contact with the Divine. Also remember that the punishment of the wicked is also part of the Divine Mission. Those who transgress the limits set and indulge in akarma (inaction),anyaya (injustice) and anaachaara (immorality), and roam about caught in the coils of ahamkaara (egoism) will be punished. Utilise every chance given to you to be good and do good. There should not be any lapse on your part.

As Baba says, no one should keep away from God's Divine. Those who
violate norms as outlined to us in Hindu Dharma, by way of akarma, injustice,
immorality and wandering around with egoism are likely to get punished. We
must utilise the opportunities given to us and do good whatever possible.
We must slowly widen our knowledge about our personal spiritual gifts that are given
to us by God. We have to spend sometime everyday and do prayer and try to chant HIS
Nama with sincere approach. Experience will be the one of most valuable indications
as to what spiritual gifts we have will be known in course of time only when we have
dedicated devotion on HIM. We all know, that Matter is perishable. The destroyer of
ignorance in us, that is GOD is imperishable, immortal. By sustained Meditation, Japa,
Nama Sangeerthanam etc on HIM, by uniting oneself with HIM, one ceases to be ignorant.
Meditation upon HIM transcends physical consciousness. To go near the GOD, we have
to control the outgoing senses and try to harness the mind. If we chant sincerely the
sacred syllable "OM" continuously, one will find the difference owing to the vibration.
As we become absorbed, we will certainly realise that the SELF is separate from
the body. Let us adore the Lord and enjoy our life.

Only those who are free from attachment, hatred, fear and anger; who are immersed in the name and form of the Lord, knowing of no other support than Him; and are sanctified by the knowledge of the Atma, can grasp Divinity. Those who seek the Lord without deviation, possessing Truth, Love and Right Conduct, will attain Him. This is absolutely true; give up any doubt you may have! People render their inner consciousness impure by ignorantly dwelling on the objective world. They take delight in mere sabda, rasa, gandha, (sound, taste, smell) etc. When they seek objective pleasure they are tempted to secure the objects that give pleasure; foiled in the attempt, they get restless, hateful and afraid. Fear robs one of his mental resources. It creates anger that cannot be easily pacified. Thus desire, anger and fear are aro used one after the other and these three must be removed to realize the Lord.

We can see God in human form, i.e. Sadguru. For e.g. Shri Seshadri Swamigal, Sri Ramana Maharishi, etc.
Sadguru alone can give us the true knowledge as mentioned in our Vedas (Satyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma).
We can also read from Sri Adi Shankara's version that the highest fortune in one's life is to get a Sadguru
(Maha Purusha Samshrayah). We need to be very clear in understanding GOD and we should also place our
faith confidently on HIM. We should not have attributes like hatred, fear, selfishness, jealousy, greedy, and anger
etc and should possess good conduct, trust, etc. The God's grace brings us all the good things, whether be material,
pleasure or blessings, in life. Only by our deeds, we must earnestly try to seek his "Kripa".

Spiritual consciousness is not at all awakened even though we happen to hear
about God many number of times, unless we practice it with dedicated bhakthi and
devotion and step by step we will move into the stage of bhava, prem, etc. That is
why, we must try to concentrate on God in the form of divine power, even one has
not attempted to do so. We must always have a affirmative approach towards GOD
than negative approach for the realization of the GOD, to get a salvation. If that is
not done, our birth becomes incomplete.

Sharp intelligence and good character must go together intertwined, then only
the actual knowledge gained through the intelligence would be certainly useful
either to the Community or to the Society. That is why, it is said that everyone
must try to possess purity in thought process as also intelligent acts/deed to become
a person of perfection. Secondly, cleanliness of mind, body and soul is also essential
for everyone to preserve and sustain a positive energy in his/her surroundings.

If we watch the Yagnopavitham, i.e. the Sacred Thread ceremony is actually conducted
to a Brahmin boy to derive the above attributes of purity in thought, word and deed.
Vichaaram, Ahimsa, Antahkarana (the channel of communication between higher and
lower aspects of Manas), Atma Bhava, Bhavaana, Practice of Celebacy (Brahmacharya)
are all the essential and inescapable attributes. Hence, it is stated that the right conduct
can only take us to illumination of mind.

mental status (say aggravated, angry mood, etc). One should try to tell them that
we will worship for you to the God and Baba, so as to create a faith in them towards
God. If time permits and once they come into our clutches, one should slowly try to
educate them the moral codes of the existence of God and scripture references, etc.
In the process, one must make them understand that what we see in Genesis is the
result of that God's creation. Faith towards God differs from person to person.
As Baba says, one should be harmonious and loving towards everyone.

Life is a tree of delusion, with all its branches, leaves and flowers of maya. You can realize this, when all your acts are dedicated offerings to God. See Him as the sap that runs through every cell; the Sun that is warming and building each atom. See Him in all and worship Him through all, for He is all. Engage in activity, filling it with devotion. It is devotion that sanctifies. A piece of paper is almost a trash, but if the contents of a certificate are written on it, you value and treasure it; it becomes a passport for promotion in life. Hence it is the bhaava (feelings behind an act) that matters, and not baahya (outward pomp and show). Without knowing this secret of transforming every action into an act of worship, people suffer from disappointment and grief. In sacred places of worship, stones of little value are shaped as Divine forms or idols. But when the feeling of devotion transmutes the idol, it become the highest treasure for the human mind.

The Lord, like a lump of sugar, is sweetness all over. All differences and distinctions are the illusions of people with body consciousness. Consider this example: A mother having four children does not give the other three as much attention and care as she gives to the child in the cradle. Even if the child does not call out for it, she is ever vigilant to give it food. The other three come and ask her for food and things to play with. Observing this, you cannot pronounce her a bad mother or a partial mother. The mother adjusts her activities to the capacity and ability of the child. So too, though the entire world is His, though all are His children, He graces and blesses each one according to one’s capacity and ability. To ascribe any fault to such selfless, sincere, simple, ever-blissful Providence is like attributing darkness to the Sun - it is an act of sheer ignorance!

Idol worship is nothing new to HINDUS. Our Puranas and Agamas do describe of
Idol Worship both at home and in Temples. Everyone when they start their Prayer,
they generate a Shape or Form in their mind about the Godly Image. A Form is very
essential to begin with. It is only a Symbol or Pratima of God to enable us to gain
concentration on the Supreme Power. Pratima is an absolute need. Any body who
believes in the Pratima can use any form of Picture, Saligram, Metal Structure, etc
of their Ishta Deivam too. Idol Worship gives concentration of Mind. When one
follows the Agamas, automatically, he will start developing a feeling of divine power
in him which would enable him to have a feeling of having darshan of Lord.
