One has to do a primary prayer to remove one's weaknesses and evil qualities.
Try to learn pure and virtuous qualities to proceed on the right path. One has
to be obedient to elders, loving and courteous to others. Once a person is
sincere in divine approach, the Supreme Power always forgives one's sins and
wrong deeds. After all, we are all children of the Supreme Power and he will
certainly protect us. Secondly, one should not have jealousy and anger. Because
anger destroys one’s peace of mind and takes away high right thinking and
produces mental weakness. On the other hand one loses patience and right thinking.
In the process, one loses most faithful and loyal friends. Besides, it produces
physical nervous system and gives a bad impression. One has to learn to do
selfless service and slowly cultivate purity of mind. Spiritual practices
can bring good thoughts. As we all know, the mind raises all kinds of thoughts.
Sometimes, it does not analyse it. Our scriptures have many examples which can
teach us that we should keep away from evil deeds and actions. Ahimsa, Satyam,
Brahmacharyam, detachment to material world, etc can lead one to divine life.
Divine life can be practiced even while leading an active routine life
without disturbance to the routine duties. Basic thing is to give up egoism, and
practice self sacrifice, control of mind, etc.

Life is a pilgrimage to God and the path lies before you. But, unless you take the first step forward and follow it with succeeding steps, how can you reach it? Start with courage, faith, joy and steadiness, you will certainly succeed. The mind and the intellect are like two bullocks tied to a cart. The bullocks are not used to the road of Truth, Righteousness, Peace and Love, and so they drag the cart along the road familiar to them, namely, falsehood, injustice, worry and hatred. You have to train the bullocks to tread the right path, so that they may not bring disaster to themselves and to others. Every object or being in the world will give both pleasure and pain. Control and train your mind to see this real nature of the objective world. That is the real fruit of education.

Troubles and travails are
to be treated as friends....
it is best to regard both
happiness and misery
as gift of God;
that is the easiest path
for one's own liberation.

All the effort and investment you expend in pursuing the scriptures and noble thoughts are a sheer waste, if study and reflection do not help you to recognize that the mind is worse than a drunken monkey. Pilgrimages are for elevating the heart, sublimating the impulses and leading the lower self to higher levels of thought and action. Reason serves the same purpose, or at least, it ought to. Reason seeks to know the unity of the universe, the origin and the goal of all of it. Through reason, you should understand the laws that govern the microcosm (anu) and the macrocosm (Bruhath). It peeps behind the ever receding curtain to get a glimpse of the Puppeteer (Suthradhari) who pulls the strings.

Owing to desires, there is a possibility to have a change in behavioral traits
such as selfishness, dishonesty, arrogance, aggressive tendencies, irresponsible
acts, etc. Some occur owing to environmental factors resulting in emotions.
Emotional expressions lead to fearful expressions. Because it is a kind of sense
looking a positive object or hoping for a favorable outcome. Person normally
does not worry about the situation or environment to attain that. In order to
over come from this, one has to gain adequate knowledge in the spiritual field
without relying upon the senses being pessimistic about our ability to gain that.
One has to strive to emulate from spiritual literature and books through constant
reading and practices generating a positive sensation and thought process
so as to frame the mind in good deeds. Certain preconceptions like usefulness
ideal, etc have to be analysed in a proper spirit and the truth has to be found
out. New ideas are formed by thought processes on understanding the basic
concepts of spirituality. Importance should not be attached to material
sense-experiences.

A Peaceful Transition

Anger is a misunderstanding that one has with truth. Hence the one that is influenced by anger will support the grounds of his fear. If he is confronted with truth he experienced greater anxiety.... not because he abhors truth. He only fears that the truth may take away the present fears with which he conducts his day-to-day task. He is afraid of the immediate change that truth may bring. He wishes for time to change him slowly rather than him changing time immediately.... that very instant. He defends that he is used to his loss of peace... and that his loss of peace would be greater if he had nothing to fear from the very next instant.

He is unable to surrender the reigns and see all as the will of the Divine. He does not understand that God gives him the circumstances not to understand his fears but to uproot them.

If you wish to give yourself to God remember you have to start this instant.

The instant your fears speak to you…return to the strength of truth.

In one second a fear can grow that can drown you for years…..do not foster it.

Pray and speak to God all that you feel. Place it at His feet….then walk away knowing that He will take care in His own way.

Fears are the ghosts of untruth. Do not try to analyze them. As you pay no attention to them they will subside.

A failure is when one gets attached to the success or the fall of an experience. Experience one moment at a time and do not get attached to any of them.

If you worry about the future you will lose the present moment in which you can speak to God.

If you are angry realize immediately that you have harbored too many fears within you.

It is better to face the situation with strength and courage rather than to sleep to the voice of fears.

Do not be angry at the one who is angry with you…..in his screams is a silent call for help…..be kind…..be patient…..and offer to him with love the ways of truth that will allow him to return to his own inner voice.

The more you support your fears the more anger will become a habit with you.

A disease in the body only results when one has not kept his mind close to the voice of the heart.

As long as you keep yourself constantly in truth you will be able to face with courage the changes of time.

You have to steer your fears with your strength of devotion for God toward His will.

Your daily routine must incorporate time where you return to your spirit of love and your inspirations for truth.

Most forget to smile for they are too busy chasing their desires that may make them smile. Keep smiling while working, playing, and resting. Be thankful that you are aware of God’s will and are fearless to accept it.

Do not drag episodes of anger. The moment you recognize that you have lost your peace you must turn the resentment into an act of repentance and a picture of perfect love.

Realize that you are born not to face always perfect times and perfect circumstances. You are born to see the truth. Yes! The truth in the light of which all becomes divinely perfect!

After the death of Ravana on the battlefield, Lakshmana asked Rama, "Brother! Our brother Bharata has been ruling the Kingdom of Ayodhya very well, for 14 years. That kingdom, though poor, is happy under his rule. Now, Lanka has come into our hands. This seems heaven when compared to Ayodhya. I pray that you assume rulership over Lanka and reform the Rakshasas." Rama smiled at this suggestion. He replied, "Does any son give up his mother because her features are ugly? My motherland may be poor but it is my mother. Can I adopt a woman as mother, if she is more charming than my own? However rich and prosperous this Lanka is, I do not wish to be here." Rama held up the ideal of a patriot eager to serve His native land.
I shall relate an example in which I Am Myself the subject. Forty years ago, a rich lady named Sakamma (famed as a big coffee planter and manufacturer of Sakamma Coffee) used to come to Puttaparthi from Bangalore. In those days, journey to this isolated hamlet was a very difficult venture. Those who came by car had to negotiate mud tracks and park the cars on the right bank of the river and trudge across. On one occasion, Sakamma came with two maternal uncles of the Maharaja of Mysore, and prayed, "Swami! This place is very inaccessible. Devotees are undergoing much trouble. We shall purchase a few acres of land in Bangalore City and spend a few lakhs to build a fine spacious Mandir for you there. Swami must agree and must move over to that city." I told her, "Sakamma! What is the greatness in promising water to those who come to the River Ganga? The greatness consists in promising water to those who come to the desert . Listen! This is the place where ‘This Body’ was born. You may build the Mandir as you plan anywhere. I shall come there and be there for some days. However, I shall not forsake this place." Now, this tiny hamlet which was difficult to reach has become the centre of even a University. Can mere man transform it so? Through Whom has this village gained every modern convenience needed for a happy life?

Emotions play an important role in everyone's life. Perhaps, this is quite natural.
But, then sometimes emotions cloud people's thinking and it leads to confusion,
and uncertainty prevails. Emotions can neither be termed as good nor could be
decided as bad. Sometimes, they can lead to serious mistakes and one may loose
control. At the same time, one should not set aside the emotions too. Because,
there is a possibility for contradiction and many believe others are wrong. Some
suppress the emotions and keep away from emotional responses. In such cases,
it becomes difficult to express the feelings and one fails to understand the emotions
of others. One has to intelligently act without weakening the health or mental outlook
so that the relationships do not get affected. Improving one's emotional intelligence
is just as important to one's success and happiness.

God is the closest , the fondest, and the most reliable companion. But, man, in his blindness, ignores Him and seeks the company of others. God is present everywhere, at all times. He is the richest and most powerful guardian. Yet, you ignore Him. The Lord is here, near, loving, accessible and affectionate. but, many do not open their eyes to that great opportunity. The name will bring Him nearer to you.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has been always been emphasizing on the importance of Namasmarana, Chanting of Lord's names. He said that Namasmarana is the only Supreme Sadhana that one can perform to liberate himself from the cycles of Karma in this Kali age. One has been hearing or reading or going through various unbelievable experiences from times immemorial about the power of Namasmarana. The Lord's name is so powerful that it transforms a villian into a wise person like the great Valmiki who wrote Ramayana, a great epic, after having lived as a dacoit for several year

You are happiest when you are immersed in yourself! The child in the womb is in the state Soham (‘I am He’ - union with God) but when it is born in the world, it starts the question Koham (‘Who am I’). For it forgot its truth and identifies itself with the body and the senses. Until it becomes a realized person (Jnani), it will never regain the knowledge of Soham. Madhava-tatvam (Divine state) when it assumes a form, is Manava (Man). Manava can become Madhava (Divine) by engaging in actions dedicated to God. You can then discover your Divine State. What is the use of doing only human action (Manava Karma) or even demoniac action and claiming that human being is Divine? Virtue must be your life-breath. Character must be your backbone. Without these no meritorious act will fructify. Retain your evil qualities and win troubles; Renounce them and win peace!

Life gets terminated once a person understands the concept of Moksha and
is freed from birth and death cycle. Moksha is nothing but realisation of the
difference between the individual soul and the Supreme Soul. One can
attain self realization through bhakthi yoga. A person may have many thoughts
and ideas in mind but then one should concentrate on the Supreme Power. Whatever
be one's own learning capacity to understand divine activities, one has to get mentally
reformed to accept the significance and regard almost all the divine activities
as the natural creation of the Supreme Power. One should not have a prejudiced
way of thinking in such instances.

Develop attachment for the Lord, who will always be with you wherever you go. Only the years that you have lived with the Lord and for the Lord, are to be counted as true living. Develop prema (divine love) towards Him, parama-prema (supreme love) of which He is the embodiment. Never give room for doubts and hesitations or questions to test the Lord's love. Do not entertain questions such as, "Why have my troubles not ended? Does He not love me enough? Why is He ignoring Me? Why is it that He did not speak to me?" Never think that God does not care for you and that He does not know you. God is full of selfless love and truly cares for you always. In fact every act of His, is for your wellbeing!

Through our Puranas, we notice our Saints have experienced the Supreme
Power and have clearly explained to us the beliefs and also as to how one
should behave in a Satsangh, Temple, etc. From them, we can also notice
their experience, and their versions suggest that people’s attachment to
the Supreme Power is very similar to their human attachments. This shows
the implications for spiritual formation. One has to analyse the emotional and
relational maturity leading to spiritual maturity. Theoretical approaches alone
are not important. Those days, street plays were normally conducted to
bring in a belief that the Supreme Power existed. Individual differences were
corrected. They used to demonstrate in a measure the role of the Supreme
Power in day to day affairs in a multidimensional activities explaining the religous
beliefs, particularly with respect to perceived relationships with the Supreme
Power. Reliability factor was established through various interpretations to erase
doubts and hesitations about the existence of Supreme Power.

A Treasure of the Soul

Within the silence of the soul are the whispers of God. Lend your ears to the sweet nectarine words that God has left within your soul. No matter what time gives or takes the words of God are the treasures that each and every soul can retreat into…

Remembering God becomes easy when one takes shelter under the umbrella of His pledge to you…

“No matter what is in front of you…I alone shall confront it and give to you My protection…My guidance and My assurance. I love you even if you in the confusion of maya deny it. I give to you what is best…I take from you what you do not need…Do not look at what I give to another to take away from them…My love for all is the same yet I choose for each one the path that suits them best. Be happy…Be content…Be confident that I am always there with you…Do not believe in your fears…Come to Me always remembering that nothing can harm you if you simply believe that I am taking care…Do not panic…Realize that My will takes you where you alone must be…You feed Me with your devotion and faith in Me…And I in return give you My full Self…the realization of truth and the company of bliss.”

The demon Bhasmasura, through God's Grace earned the power to turn into ash anyone by placing his hand on their head. However his instincts were not tamed, his reasoning was not purified. Blinded by greed and egoism, he tried to reduce the very Giver of the gift. Hence, unless you are extra careful to examine the very process of reasoning, even while the process is on, there is a big danger that you may be following only the trail that you yourself have laid down. Reason can be tamed only by discipline; through compassion, calmness, forbearance and endurance (Daya, Shantham, Kshama, and Sahana). Train your mind to walk quietly along small stretches of road at first and then after you have become sure of its docility, you can take it along safely down the tortuous road of the sixfold temptations of lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride and jealousy.
