Dear Raghy,

You are mistaken...even if Cyber Raghy is inactive or Real Raghy has left the mortal coil nothing really ceases to exists.

न - not, एनम् - this(self), छिन्दन्ति - cleave, शस्त्राणि - weapons, न - not, एनम् - this(self), दहति - burns, पावकः - fire, न - not, च - and, एनम् - this(self), क्लेदयन्ति - wet, आपः - waters, न - not, शोषयति - dries, मारुतः - wind

But it depends on your identification.
If you identify yourself as this mortal body then Mr. Raghy is correct, but if you are the Atma then your characterization is right.

Just now I went to Guardian Pharmacy to pick up some stuff like shampoo,toothpaste and toothbrush.

I was looking for a specific toothbrush and I saw this "Colgate Surround" toothbrush there.
It was under a label named Colgate TB.

I was wondering what there is Colgate for TBs now?

Only then I realized that TB was the abbreviation for Tooth Brush!!

Krishna and Draupadi

An interesting incident concerns about Krishna and Draupadi - who had once torn a strip of silk off her

sari and tied it around Krishna's wrist - to stop the bleeding from a battlefield wound. Krishna was

touched by her action and declared her to be his sister, even though they were unrelated. He promised

to repay the debt and then spent the next 25 years doing just that. Draupadi, in spite of being married

to five great warriors and being a daughter of a powerful monarch, trusted and depended wholly on

Krishna. Krishna repaid the debt of love during the "Cheer-Haran" (literally "clothing-removing") of

Draupadi, which occurred in the assembly of a King. At that time, Krishna extended her saree through

divine intervention, so it could not be removed, to save her honor.

This is how he honored his rakhi vow towards Draupadi.
 
King Bali and Goddess Lakshmi

According to a legend Bali, the Demon King was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu who had taken up the

task to guard his kingdom leaving his own abode in Vaikunth. Lakshmi wished to be with her lord back

in her abode. She went to Bali disguised as a woman to seek refuge till her husband came back.

During the Shravan Purnima celebrations, Lakshmi tied the sacred thread to the King. Upon being

asked, she revealed who she was and why she was there. The king was touched by her goodwill for his

family and her purpose and requested the Lord to accompany her. He sacrificed all he had for the Lord

and his devoted wife.

Thus devotion to the Lord. It is said that since then it has been a tradition to invite sisters in Shravan

Purnima for the thread tying ceremony or the Raksha Bandhan.
 
Yama and the Yamuna

According to another legend, Raksha Bandhan was a ritual followed by the Lord of Death Yama and his

sister Yamuna - a river in northern India. Yamuna tied a rakhi to Yama and was bestowed immortality.

Yama was so moved by the serenity of the occasion that he declared that whoever gets a rakhi tied from

his sister and promised her protection, will become immortal.

I refer to my message in post #2875. I notice, you have not mentioned tying any Rahkki to my hand. So, I am folding my hand back, please.

(By the way, I did not say cyber Raghy would cease to "exist"; I only said cyber Raghy's "continuation would cease" when Raghy in flesh and bone dies. " continuation" doesn't mean end of existance; Cyber Raghy may exist, but will not continue when Raghy dies. Cyber Raghy is only a projection of energy from biological Raghy; so, Cyber Raghy may not have 'Atman'. The Geeta verse quoted by you in post #2876 will not apply to cyber Raghy).

Importance of Amavasya & Mahalaya Paksha

Amavasya is the Indic name for a New Moon. The word Amavasya is
common to many Indian languages particularly Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi
and Gujarati.



The fortnight containing the new-moon is considered as auspicious by Hindus.
They believe that during this period, the offerings that they make, reach their late
ancestors. Every month, the new-moon day is considered very auspicious and
in some houses Pujas are performed. Some to do not plan travel. They feel
no travel ought to be scheduled the first day of the new moon,
as travel without moonlight in the ancient period was not permitted.

The dark fortnight of Aswayuja (September-October) is specially known as
the Mahalaya Paksha or the Fortnight specially sacred for offering
oblations to the departed soul of ancestors. The last day of this period,
the new moon day, is considered as the Most Important day in
the year for performing obsequies and rites, The people who do not
normally perform Amavasya, they observe this period very strictly and
do not eat Non-vegetarian food
.

The renowned hero of the Mahabharata, Karna, when he left the mortal
coil, ascended to the higher worlds and the great charity he had done
here was returned to him multifold. But, it was all gold and silver; there
was no food, as he had not done any food-charity! He prayed to the
God of death. Hence, he was returned back to the Earth for a period
fourteen days, to make up for this deficiency.


For fourteen days, he fed the Brahmins and the poor, and offered oblations
of water. Thus, on his return to the higher regions, he had sumptuous food . It is
these fourteen days that are celebrated during the period of Mahalaya Paksha.
Due to the grace of the Yama, it has been ordained that offerings made
during this period benefit all the departed souls, whether they are
connected to one or not.

I can watch these busy bodies - a group of prairie dogs - outside our dining room

through the window..They burrow all day!

They hop around, run around, stand upright and watch out.

I am sure they are looking and feeling very busy!

I wonder if some one sees US humans from above and feel in the same way! :rolleYes:
