dear manohar kumar !
there is no second opinion about giving dakshina to the vathiyars.the happiness comes when the performer not realizing the plight of the sastrical and the sastrical give priority to money only & not for rituals .the basic rituals must be performed without the guarantied money package and time duration.
one sastrical migrated from Chennai to TRichy since he is not able to tolerate the behaviour of his group as well as the mentality of the so called asthigas
i am also get annoyed by use of cell phone by them while performing poojas

The Ayush Homam was planned in my tiny flat in Coimbatore with our family priest

The incident happened in India and not USA.
My elder son's wedding was performed by a temple priest in Chicago to our satisfaction. :)

I am sorry for your experience. In USA it has become a racket
The pujari's main business is fleecing the gullible public.
Your idea of service at the temple is admirable.

dear VR !
Mr.Prasad's message misled me to this even though i guessed it happened in India .your additional information about the marriage conducted in USAas well as smt. Raji ram post made me to feel that at least the priest in faraway places are dedicated .

Reading the sad and disturbing news item about the grim faced super star of

Hanuman had entered and come out unscathed in the mouth of Simhika.

It is time that his devotees do that feat as well.

Before and after the plastic surgery.

Teased about her big ears since she was 7 years old, Nadia found school a nightmare. Her classmates tormented her, and she couldn't bear to look at herself in the mirror.

Dr. Thomas Romo operated on Nadia in June. He pinned her ears back, and also operated on her nose and chin. Romo performed $40,000 worth of work for free.

Asked if they were concerned that operating on Nadia conveyed the message that other bullied children needed to have plastic surgery, Romo replied: "She wasn't picked to have her surgery because she was bullied. She was picked for her surgery because of her deformities."

For years, Nadia wore her hair down to cover her ears. When she starts her first day of high school today, she will likely wear her hair up.

Asked about how she felt about the bullies who tormented her, she said: "I forgive, but I don't forget."

If a normal(?) human being can have more than one head,

why not our HINDU GODS???

The world is full of surprises which defy all known laws!

When Abby and Brittany were born back in 1990, the doctors told their parents they most likely wouldn't survive the night. (One in 40,000 twin births are conjoined, and just one percent of those make it to the age of one.) But they defied the medical odds by not only surviving, but thriving. At six years old, the twins were featured on Oprah and appeared on the cover of Life magazine, but since then, parents Patty and Mike have raised the twins out of the media spotlight in rural Minnesota, giving them a chance at a normal childhood.

Ms. VR ji,

Let us not make fun of freaks of nature.
The Hindu godheads are representation of different aspect of the God.
There was a girl born in India with 4 hands and 4 legs, and people started visiting her as Lakshmi, finally the parents had to go underground and get her operated for the child to have a "normal" life.

After the surgery, her family had to move away from the town they lived in to avoid people that were angry at the surgery and thought they profited from it (they didn't), but Lakshmi's attending a school for disabled children and her parents still consider her a goddess.

dear Mr Prasad,
I do not know what made you think that I am making fun of the freaks of nature :nono:
I had always wondered how several heads can fit in one neck!
So I was AMAZED that two heads had fitted in one neck pretty well.
I NEVER make fun of people who need to be pitied or at least left alone.

Of late men are also becoming conscious of Cosmetic Surgery. Perhaps they prefer to have
a charming and youth appearance so that one will be fit enough to contest in competitions
besides an attractive person in a business field and society in general.

One feels body contouring cosmetic surgery is an artistic form. What appears to be best for
a male is significantly different than for a woman. of late, people adopt latest techniques for
cosmetic surgery in places like nose, cheek, forehead, mouth, abdomen, etc.

Never sympathize a person with a 'pain in the neck!' :nono:

Remembering a dear friend who left us on this day last year.

“THE RISING SUN”.

Gone with the rain!

Her name was the time of the “rising Sun”,
And her face was as lovely as the full moon!

Spic and span at all odd hours,
Smiling and serving all the others!

I know her for just years ten,
And yet my heart she has stolen!

Closer to me than my own sibling,
Always happy in joyous bubbling!

Even when come here as a guest,
She would help and play the host!

She just left without saying “bye! bye!”,
Never gave a hint that she is going die!

She just took off like a “poof!”
For god’s existence I need proof!

Why did those words inauspicious,
Made my poem very conspicuous?

Did I know that there will be a crash,
When I was writing about the trash?

Left for Bangalore in a large car,
But reached eternity, age no bar!

Life is so complex that we hardly feel,
Until the unforeseen kicks with a heel!

Life is indeed a serious stuff,
Not to wasted in spurious huff!

I am off to pray for her dear soul,
That it may rest in Heavens’ bowl!

The Night and our fright.

I had spent a sleepless night,
Tossing in bed with the insight!

Human life is so ephemeral,
And is also so full of trouble.

Scattered voices were soon heard,
When people should have been in bed!

What was keeping these people awake?
At middle of the night, for whose sake?

Soon the murmuring grew louder
And the news that made us sadder!

The young man who is our secretary,
Had also taken off to enter eternity!

Hurry, curry, worry and scurry,
Are the bane of modern society.

Hurry he always did, to meet
With the doctors’ appointment!

Worry too, he must have been in,
With many problems unforeseen!

Curry is also a very likelihood,
Being of non veg brotherhood.

Did heavy smoking claim its price?
And took his soul away in a trice?

It was all the way merely digene,
When an E.C.G it should have been!

The whole colony is off-mood,
This is surely not for our good.

Miseries I believe strike us once,
Or in threes, but never ever twice!

What will be the unknown third?
The worry had made me feel tired!

Third too happened just as I feared!
Our plumber’s own brother’s suicide.

What varied ways end the human lives!
By oversight, neglect and wantonness!

Remembering Our young colony secretary
who left the world on the same day last year.

I saw and felt his presence in the temple AFTER the man was dead and gone!!!
Was he also there?

He visited our temple regularly;
And attended the Puja eagerly.

He had a kind word for everyone;
His total sincerity would often stun!

Not like most people who pretend;
As if Puja will stop unless they attend.

He was the first one to read my blog;

And register his opinions all agog.

Today I thought I saw his figure trim!
Though I knew that the fate grim,

Has snatched with cruel hands him!
And allowed things to settle and sim.

The thought that I almost saw him,

Filled my deluded eyes to the brim.

Farewell good friend! Rest in peace!
We will pray for your loved one’s ease.
