Yamuna river pollution affecting Delhi's water supply

New Delhi, Jan. 20 (ANI): With pollution in Yamuna river affecting the water supply in the national capital, Delhi Chief Secretary KK Sharma has written to his Haryana counterpart DS Dhesi to take necessary steps and has assured that hygienic water will be supplied through tankers to the affected areas.

Led by "Star Wars" merchandise, toy sales in the United States rose 6.7 percent to $19.4 billion in 2015, making it one of the strongest performances for toy sales in years, NPD Group said.

[h=3]Terrorists kill 21 in Pakistan university; four attackers too die[/h] Peshawar, Jan 20 (IANS) At least 21 people including students were killed and dozens injured when four terrorists stormed the Bacha Khan University near here and opened indiscriminate fire in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is at war with the Pakistani state, claimed responsibility for the horrific attack at Charsadda that only ended when troops shot dead all the attackers after over five hours of fighting. The morning attack started around 9.30 a.m. when some 3,000 students and university employees were at the sprawling campus besides 600 guests, many for a poetry recital to commemorate the anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as Bacha Khan.

Activists skeptical as Kerala becomes first in primary education goal

Jose THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Activists welcomed the south Indian state of Kerala being named the first in the country to give a primary education to its entire population, but stressed the need to improve the quality of education. Vice President Hamid Ansari last week declared the coastal state of 34 million - popular among tourists for its backwater canals and lagoons - had achieved its goal to educate its population to the primary standard of grade 4.

Rao further said that dalit scholar Rohith Vemula had psychological problems which were revealed in his suicide note. The minister also stood guard of Labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya, saying that when the entire report was received by the latter, he did his job.
