[h=3]counter: Ishrat ghost comes to haunt Team UPA[/h] As former Home Secretary G K Pillai again targeted his former boss P Chidambaram, who was Union Home Minister when the UPA government changed its affidavit in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, the BJP Tuesday attacked the Congress brass and urged the government to investigate “the entire flip-flop” on the case. Pillai’s statements on “luring” the alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba group to Gujarat also prompted Vrinda Grover, lawyer for Ishrat’s mother, to demand that the former Home Secretary be made a prosecution witness since his remarks backed the CBI finding that the encounter had been faked.

Parts of Great Barrier Reef face permanent destruction due to El Nino - scientists

By Colin Packham SYDNEY (Reuters) - Parts of Australia's Great Barrier Reef face permanent destruction if the current El Nino, one of the strongest in two decades, does not ease this month, scientists said on Wednesday. The El Nino is a result of a warming of the ocean in the western Pacific -- ideal conditions for coral bleaching, where coral expels living algae, causing it to calcify. The scientists said areas of the Great Barrier Reef, a world heritage site, are experiencing the worst bleaching in 15 years.

Peter Mukherjea, who is an accused in the case, and his sister Shangom Das Gupta had moved the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the film’s release on the grounds that it would stall Peter’s opportunity at a fair trial. The CBI has filed its supplementary chargesheet running into over 500 pages and mentions Peter Mukherjea as a conspirator in the Sheena Bora murder case,” states the affidavit of the film’s Kolkata-based director Agnidev Chatterjee.
