[h=3]Sexual harassment is widespread in India: Study[/h] Washington D.C, Mar 29 (ANI): After the Nirbhaya gang rape in December 2012, India strengthened its law, but now a recent study suggests that sexual harassment remains a pervasive problem. The research by a Michigan State University criminologist found that about 40 percent of women surveyed in Delhi have been sexually harassed in a public place such as a bus or park in the past year, with most of the crimes occurring in the daytime and 58 percent were sexually harassed at least once during their lifetime. Further, 33 percent of women have stopped going out in public and 17 percent have quit their jobs rather than face harassment, or worse, in public places.

Don't target my son Sid: Vijay Mallya

New Delhi, Mar. 30 (ANI): Liquor baron Vijay Mallya who is facing charges of money laundering has come out in defence of his son saying that Siddharth must not be targeted or be dragged into any controversy

In case if the borrower is dead, Bank after his death, used to obtain in stamp paper a letter called " Continuing liability" signed by all legal heirs to recover the debt due from the deceased.

Here in this case Mallayya is alive.Without obtaining a guarantee bond from the son nothing could be recovered fro him.
Otherwise, Banks have to prove that the son's property is not self acquired; only bought out of the diverted funds of Mallayya.

The crimes are on the raise; but I doubt the reliability of this survey. It appears to be a sustained effort to tarnish the image of India.

That is the 'beauty' of Statistics.

The % can be calculated out of a small number of cases which is not randomized.

It is "Lies, Blasphemy and Statistics!" in that order- when manipulated! :lie:

I am sure the crime against women has always existed. :(
The news spreads farther, wider and faster - thanks to the sensational media. :horn:

123. Monte Carlo Fallacy

If the wheel in a casino shows up even numbers 9 consecutive times, what will be the next number shown? Will it be even or odd? Most people will guess that the next number will be odd, according to the Law of Averages.

Statisticians call this as “Monte Carlo Fallacy”. In fact the Law of Averages does not exist! There is no unseen influence, which would try to balance the wheel’s past and future spins, to guarantee that the odd numbers and the even numbers show up equally frequently!

The wheel always comes up with random numbers. Whenever an event occurs, that is completely unpredictable based on its context, it is called a random event.

Randomness is very important in many games and in the several surveys conducted for various purposes. If the persons are not picked up at random, the results of the surveys will be misleading, inaccurate and completely useless.

It is quite common to find some people inappropriately rich - compared to their qualification and profession.

I find some stinking rich people live off and pose off the money made by selling the land and plots
bought by some clever ancestor( aka muth thaathaa) for a peanut - with a great foresight.

There is nothing great in being rich in this manner and nothing shameful in being not rich! :thumb:

When people belong to the '99 Club' , they lose sleep till they make it 100.

The plight of those who belong to the '98 Club' is even worse! :tsk:

They will be scheming and plotting all their lives (aka vEppilai adikkarathu)

to reach their target of 99 first and then 100!

Poor wretched rich people - making the most wonderful specimens of oxymoron.

பிச்சை எடுத்தும் கூட முயன்றான்;

“மீட்டுக்கொள் உன் ஏழு தாங்க ஜாடிகளை;

வீட்டை விட்டுப் போனாலே போதும்;

SEVEN POTS OF GOLD.

A king’s barber was very happy and well to do. While walking through a forest he heard the voice of a yakshA offering to present him with seven pots of gold.

The barber accepted the offer of the yakshA and was overwhelmed to find the seven pots of gold coins in his house. Six pots were full but the seventh was only half full. He decided to fill it up at any cost.

He sold all his properties and jewels, bought gold coins and put them in the jar. He did everything he could think of, including begging, but he could not fill the seventh jar.

The king noticed the change in the barber’s behavior and asked him whether he had accepted seven pots of gold from a yakshA.

The barber was surprised by the king’s question. The king advised him to return the jars as those gold coins could never be spent by any one and will ruin the house where they are placed.

The barber told the yakshA to take back his pots of gold. The seven pots disappeared magically, but along with the gold coins deposited by the barber.

He is left penniless, defeated and tired because of his greed!

Wonder where the glee of this little chap would flee
