Women can't be barred from entering Shani Shingnapur temple: Bombay HC

New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): In a landmark verdict the Bombay High Court on Friday declared that no law prevents women from entering places of worship. The court, in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Vidya Bal and Nilima Varta, said there should be no gender discrimination as far as entering a place of worship is concerned.

[h=3]Pratyusha Banerjee's post mortem report states 'asphyxia'[/h] Mumbai, Apr. 2 (ANI): The suspense surrounding the mysterious death of Balika Vadhu star Pratyusha Banerjee took another tense turn after the post-mortem revealed that 'asphyxia' could have been the cause of her death and that ligature marks were also seen around her neck. According to Mumbai Police sources, the doctors in the post mortem report have given their opinion that asphyxia, which is a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen , could have resulted in her death and added that ligature marks were seen around her neck. Following the last rites of Pratyusha, her 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Big Boss' co-stars spoke to the media, strongly denying the reports that she was in any sort of financial distress or suffering from chronic depression.

[h=3]HRD advises IITs to start Sanskrit courses[/h] The HRD Ministry has despatched an advisory to all Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to consider the idea of offering the ancient language as an elective course to their students. Sources said, the advisory, which was sent Thursday, also requests the IITs to create posts and appoint teachers for the above purpose with the approval of their respective Board of Governors. It had suggested the setting up of Sanskrit cells in all IITs, NITs, IISERs and central universities “in order to facilitate the student of science and technology in Sanskrit literature and inter-disciplinary study of various modern subjects and its corresponding subjects in Sanskrit literature”.
