New York is first U.S. city with salt warning on restaurant menus

By Barbara Goldberg NEW YORK (Reuters) - A tiny salt shaker symbol that warns certain meals are high in sodium will appear, starting Tuesday, on menus in chain restaurants in New York City, the first U.S. city to take the step in an effort to combat heart disease and stroke. Any menu item containing more than 2,300 milligrams (0.08 oz) of sodium, the daily limit many nutritionists recommend and which equals about one teaspoon of salt, must display the emblem of a salt shaker in a black triangle. The measure unanimously approved by the New York City Board of Health in September applies only to restaurants with at least 15 establishments across the U.S., and concession stands at some movie theatres and sports stadiums.

Underlining the fall In line for the online tests!!! :)

[h=3]Non-gazetted posts: In line with PM’s resolve, only online tests[/h]A month after Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared his government’s resolve to do away with interviews for non-gazetted jobs in the central government from January 1, online tests are set to replace the objective-type written examinations as a “viable and practical alternative”. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has decided to conduct online examinations across the country for vetting the candidates’ eligibility for all posts where higher secondary or above is an essential qualification. In a meeting held recently under the chairmanship of under secretary P H Pillai, a consensus was reached that the SSC will start conducting online tests, with objective-type multiple-choice questions, from next year for non-gazetted posts.

So they are certainly aware of their own intolerance and :argue:

their provocativeness to make the others also intolerant! :boink:

[h=3]Don’t make provocative remarks on floor of House, BJP tells MPs[/h]As the BJP tries to break the parliamentary logjam and get its legislative agenda on track, the party leadership Tuesday told MPs to refrain from making “provocative” remarks during debates. Briefing party MPs about the winter session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told them that their provocative statements were being used by the Opposition to stall the government’s development agenda. “Exercise restraint was the message in today’s meeting,” said a BJP MP.

Let NOT history repeat itself! :nono:

[h=3]Why is Chennai under water?[/h]The catastrophic flooding in Chennai is the result of the heaviest rain in several decades, which forced authorities to release a massive 30,000 cusecs from the Chembarambakkam reservoir into the Adyar river over two days, causing it to flood its banks and submerge neighbourhoods on both sides. While Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said, during the earlier phase of heavy rain last month, that damage during the monsoon was “inevitable”, the fact remains that the mindless development of Chennai over the last two decades — the filling up of lowlands and choking of stormwater drains and other exits for water — has played a major part in the escalation of the crisis. On the evidence of what is currently unfolding in Chennai, city authorities would appear to have the abandoned the concept of stormwater drains — the fundamental instrument of flood-fighting — altogether over the years.

How can refusing to pay one's bill be a point of honor???

[h=3]UK wartime leader Winston Churchill refused to pay his tailor's bills[/h]Refusal to pay the bills of one's tailor was famously almost a point of honour among English gentlemen in past centuries and Winston Churchill was no exception, newly released archives show. Britain's World War Two leader had racked up a bill of 197 pounds by 1937 - around 12,000 pounds ($18,000) at today's prices - with Savile Row tailor Henry Poole and Co before he was finally asked to pay up. Despite the arrears, the tailor had continued to make clothes for Churchill, said James Sherwood, a historian who has examined Poole and Co's archives.

To produce these Proton CT images, the world-first technology will use the same high energy particles that are used to destroy a tumour during proton therapy treatment.

[h=3]11 Female bonding...Bollywood style | Latest Movie Features - Bollywood Hungama[/h]This week's much-talked-about film, Pan Nalin's Angry Indian Goddesses is not the first Indian film about female bonding. Here's listing the 10 that tried it before. 1. Mandi (1983): When the redoubtable Shyam Benegal brings together a gallery of gorgeous women to play happy prostitutes it's time to rejoice. Mandi is one of Indian cinema's most accomplished films about female bonding with Shabana Azmi, fat and flamboyant as the Madame, and Smita Patil, Neena Gupta, Aneeta Kanwar and Sreela Mazumdar excelling as the happy whores. Interestingly for a film about female heroes the male characters were well fleshed-out too. 2. Queen (2013): Blatantly lifted from Parvathi Balagopalan's little-known
