Think or sink!

When I get time I am planning to write a poem about a crow!

Crows are often portrayed in negative light.

Its high time Kakas are given respect.

Dear Renu,
I am all ears and eyes for your poem on the Crow! :)
They are black but do not have the sweet voice of cuckoo.
They have strong beaks but are the scavengers of the sky.
They are one eyed and it makes them appear cunning.
Well they have many negative attributes and
are painted darker than they really may be! :(

[h=1]நரியும், நாரியும்![/h]

நரன் என்பது ஒரு மனிதனைக் குறிக்கும்;
நாரிமணி என்றால் ஒரு சிறந்த பெண்மணி.
நரியின் குணத்துடன் நாரியை வெல்லும்,
நரனின் தந்திரமே இங்கு காணப்போவது.

பொறுமையில் சிறந்தவள் பூமியைப் போல;
கருணையில் சிறந்தவள் ஒரு தாயைப் போல;
அறிவில் சிறந்தவள் ஒளிர் சூரியனைப் போல;

THE FOX AND THE WOMAN.

The title should have been The Fox and The Crow. But the story is slightly different. Hence the title too! ‘Naran’ denotes a man and ‘Nari’ a woman. This story is about a Naran who conquers a Nari with the cunning of a Fox.

The girls are as great as the Goddess of Earth in their Patience. They are as kind as the Universal Mother. They are as intelligent as the brilliant Sun. Why then do they get cheated by the cunning men?

Manu Dharma Sastra says that parent should not praise their children in their presence. Being born in a cultured and educated family, she has never listened to any praise at home. When a man praises her sky high, just as the fox did the crow, she becomes intoxicated by the praise and throws caution to the wind.

When a crow forgot itself it lost just a snack but the girl will lose her life and future . No one praises anyone else without an ulterior and selfish motive. If she is swept off her feet and gets carried away, her life gets out of her control.

So be on guard young girls! The story of the crow and the fox has been in circulation since several centuries. If you do anything rash, it will reflect on your family members for the rest of their lives.

Dear Sis,

Not a white cow but a white crow!

I found one on the web and it is here:

The White Crow

[TD]One day, a crow was flying over a village, looking for something to eat. After flying for a long time, he got tried and sat on a

wall. Suddenly, a thunderbolt made him loose his balance. He slipped into the courtyard of a painter’s house and fell into a

container that had while lime. Somehow, he managed to fly out of that container and reached a pond.

Suddenly the crow saw his reflection and was amazed to see his white colour. He realized that now he was a white crow.

This made the crow proud. He flew back to the jungle and presented himself as the new king. Since all the birds were in awe

of the white crow, they accepted him as the king and started serving him. One day, it rained heavily. All the crows sought

shelter in a large banyan tree. The white crow also went there. However, when the rain stopped, the white crow realized

that all the black crows were looking at him. The rain had washed away his white colour. Within minutes, the black crows

attacked the white crow with their beaks and drew him out of the jungle.

I wonder who chuttufied the 'Painted fox' story and reeled this new edition with a crow as the hero! :D

Why do we brand naughty childen as trisaman???

One Trisaman = three persons / three adults

Each naughty child needs three adults to take care of it.

One to fetch/ buy the necessary things/ goods

One to cook tasty, colorful nutritious food and provide for it,

One to feed the child, bathe and clothe it and entertain with stories.

Children need a house full of people. :grouphug:

The negative way the neuclear/ atomic/subatomic family :suspicious:

affects the normal growth of the child will be known before long. :moony:

The children from USA wonder at these things and cry over it - if it is possible!

1. WHY is the bathroom always wet???

2. Why is the potty so chill???

3. Why we do not get hot water 24x365???

4. Why does the Tofu here taste different???

5. Why does the Avacado here taste and also look different ??

6. Why is the Vegan butter different from the Earth Balance???

IF any of the parents of the NRI children entertain hopes that

they will eventually return to and settle down in India... please give it up!!!

EVEN if the NRI children themselves wish to return to India

the children of the NRI children WILL NEVER let it happen! :(

Dear VR ji,

Actually who wants whom to come back to India?

Don't you think we should let children/grandchildren free and let them decide where they want to stay?

We humans eventually have to be like birds..just teach the chicks to fly and let them fly away.

Dear Renu,
You are right! The birds teach their fledglings to fly and let them free to fend for themselves.
They live on a day to day basis. They do not hoard things/ build house and save for the sake of their children.
But we humans are differnet. We want to provide for and protect our offsprings for longer than necessary!
That is bondage and the root cause of all our worries and problems! :pout:

So one wild shot in the dark brought out
two fine stories with morals! :clap2:
Unity is strength. :flock:
Pretences won't last for ever - however clever!

OK I shall make up for it with a story on arab sheikh and condemned prisoner.

A prisoner condemned to death by the sheikh told him that he will teach sheikhs horse to fly and wanted two years for it.

His logic- in two years , anything could happen- who knows the old sheikh could die or he could die of natural causes.

also he cheekily added for all you know , horse could also learn to fly in two years.

at least he can feel happy that he will not be punished to hang for two years by the sheikh....lol

Yes! Two years is a long long period and anything can happen during that time!
The horse might learn to fly, kick start the by kicking the prisoner and
take off at supersonic speed with old Arab Sheikh on its back!

I am starting to wonder if Yoga could increase Sado Masochistic tendencies?

The reason is..after doing Yoga regularly the body starts to crave for more challenging poses..the more challenging poses at times comes with a feeling of intense stretch to the muscle and ligaments and initially there might be some mild pain which goes away after body develops the needed flexibility.

But if we push ourselves a bit more we start to feel that nice pain feeling that is like a deep massage.
So the body then starts to develop a higher tolerance to pain and seeks more and more challenging poses to get the initial massage type of pain feeling.

So can this escalate into S&M? Cos the body and mind starts to enjoy pain..I wonder if Yoga has the ability to lean towards S&M? I don't think many people want to explore this side of Yoga cos mostly everyone thinks of Yoga as spiritual.

Well we will never know unless we take out those whips and handcuffs! I am not talking about prison!LOL

Hey guess what?

I just Googled Yoga and S&M and found this.

The New Yoga? Sadomasochism Leads to Altered States, Study Finds

Sadomasochism, or sexual enjoyment from giving or receiving pain, may be a meditative experience and in some cases may lead to an altered state of consciousness, new research suggests.
Consensual sadomasochism was long considered pathological, but psychologists studying people interested in BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism) have failed to find evidence that these sexual practices are harmful.

One study, published in May 2013, actually found thatpractitioners of BDSM were better off than the general population in some ways, including having secure relationships and lower anxiety. Currently, the psychiatrists' definitive handbook, the DSM-5, lists BDSM as a paraphilia, or unusual sexual fixation, but only classifies it as a disorder if it causes harm.

If sadomasochism is not a pathology as once believed, the question is why some people engage in these painful sexual behaviors, said James Ambler, a graduate student in psychology at Northern Illinois University.

"It seems, on the surface, very paradoxical," Ambler told Live Science. [Hot Stuff? 10 Unusual Sexual Fixations]

The gain from pain
To find out, Ambler recruited "switches," or people in the SM community who like both receiving pain and giving pain. Fourteen switches, 10 of whom were women, agreed to be assigned one of those two roles for the night by roll of the die.
Before and after their sexual experience, the volunteers completed a cognitive test called the Stroop task, in which they saw a word for a color written in a color other than what the word said ("blue" written in red, for example). It's hard for the brain to read the word correctly when the color of the letters clashes with the meaning, making this a widely used test of cognitive abilities. The volunteers also filled out questionnaires about their feelings of "flow" during the sadomasochistic experience. Flow is a state of focus and enjoyment that people feel when fully immersed in a task.

The results showed that people playing the pain-receiving role showed poorer Stroop task scores, which are seen with short-term reductions of functions in a part of the brain called the dorsolateral prefrontal cortexAmbler said. This region is linked to executive control, working memory and other higher-level functions.

The pain that comes with sadomasochistic sex may cause the brain to shunt blood flow away from this region, causing a subjectively altered state of consciousness — and the appeal of SM, Ambler said.

"Part of the reason these SM activities may be so extreme, at some level, is that they're particularly effective at causing the brain to change its distribution of blood flow," he said. [51 Sultry Facts About Sex]
People on the giving end of the pain got benefits, too. Both sides of the equation reported similar levels of flow during their sexual "scene."

Spiritual, not sexual
The findings hint that sadomasochism isn't entirely about sex. A second study, conducted by Ellen Lee, a graduate student in psychology at Northern Illinois University, with her advisor, Brad Sagarin, and their BDSM Research Team, focused on a nonsexual — but very painful — ritual performed by some in the community.

Called the "Dance of Souls," this ritual involves people getting temporary skin piercings, through which hooks attached to ropes are placed. The ropes of one person are connected to those on others in the group or to a fixed object and are pulled taut as music or drums are played. These events are also known as "energy pulls" and are seen as primarily spiritual, not sexual, Sagarin told Live Science.

The researchers surveyed 22 participants in one of these rituals at a kink community conference in California. Five participants who were hooked agreed to participate, as well as nine supporters (who make sure group members are OK during the ritual) and eight observers. The participants filled out surveys about their stress, emotions, flow and the extent to which they felt their own selves overlapped with others at the event. They also gave saliva samples to test their cortisol, a hormone that spikes during stress.
Unsurprisingly, given the pain, cortisol levels went up during the ritual. But something odd happened: Participants reported feeling less stressed.
"We see this interesting disconnect," Sagarin said. "We think this may be indicative of the types of altered states of consciousness people might be seeking."

The effect might not be so different from what people experience when they push their bodies during yoga, or even during meditation, he said. People who complete the energy pull ritual also report feeling more connected to others, he added.

The brain effects Ambler found might provide an explanation. The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is responsible, in part, for distinguishing self from other, he said. If less blood flows to the brain during these intensely painful experiences, the result may be a feeling of oneness.

The researchers hope that future research will involve closer, minute-by-minute monitoring of participants to delve into how the physiological and the psychological are linked. The findings are interesting both because they illuminate that link and because sadomasochism may not be quite as fringe as psychologists once thought, the researchers said.
"Research would suggest that a substantial minority of people do either fantasize or participate in these activities," Sagarin said. "There is relevance to it in terms of the number of people either directly or indirectly involved."
The researchers presented their findings last week at the annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in Austin, Texas.

Dear Renu,
This subject is beyond my experience and scope.
But I bet it will interest many people in general.
Everything we do must be pleasant and enjoyable.
Deriving pleasure in inflicting/ receiving pain sounds strange to me.
